The biggest problem with sticky holsters is they don’t retain the firearm if you sit in a deep couch or chair. On two occasions my J-frame slipped out of my DeSantis sticky holster onto the furniture without me even feeling it. I only knew the loaded firearm wasn’t in my pants when I saw it sitting on the couch. Plus, sticky holsters are not rigid enough to truly protect the trigger from NDs. I’ll NEVER use any soft, sticky holster ever again. The only two I use now are kydex Vedder and Alabama.
If you're wondering about something hitting the trigger with the sticky holster, just try it.. I'll bet you can't activate the trigger on purpose let alone on accident
I like your evaluation criteria. You thoroughly explained your reasons based on your experience. I didn’t know Vedder made a pocket holster, but the claw being curved in might help with printing to a degree. When I retired from having to pack around a full sized double stack, or compact and subcompact versions of full size double stacks, I intended to sometimes pocket carry a Beretta Model 2A Bobcat. Used a cheap Uncle Mike’s that also occasionally contained a steel J-frame or a Glock 43. Wasn’t the best all-round, anyway. Tim also discovered my old Berettas, which I’ve had since the 80s and shot a lot weren’t as reliable as I remembered them to be. Anyway, can see myself acquiring a S&W J in .22 or an LCP II Lite Rack in .22. I currently am carrying a Sig P365 - bought a DeSantis Nemesis for pocket carry. Not the end-all, but works fairly undetected in slacks or cargo pants/shorts. Not so well in jeans/jeans shorts that I wear most of the time. An old Massad Ayoob trick is to fold up an envelope (electric bill) and put in the pocket in front of the gun. Might cause some issue with a draw, but also might further conceal a gun and any issue can be overcome with practice. I think DeSantis makes an updated version with that idea in mind. The upside of pocket carry is that you’re maximizing concealment options as long as you’re basically sticking with pocket pistols. Downside is speed, hindered draw, and inability to access with the support hand. That said, pocket carry is a very viable option.
I use a sticky, mostly ibw appendix, but it's so easy to move it around depending on circumstances (sitting in the car) w/o having to screw with a belt clip. That's what I like the most about it. Plus it's so comfortable coz it's soft. I hardly ever pocket carry though.
@@LoganVanders I only wear it in cargo pants & cargo shorts. You can tell something is in the pocket but it doesn't look like a pistol, most people would probably think it's a cell phone in your pocket.
I think that kydex is the only way to go with a striker fired pistol. Those soft sided holsters dont give me much confidence with such a short and light trigger.
@@fastway007 Good point, but concerned manual lever may flip. Considering 365XL w/safety, also Masada Slim, trigger safety. Prefer DA/SA but Mfg-ers are too cheap to build one. Maybe LCR in 327 fed?
I have been using a kidex pocket holster from Alabama Holster. Works great but tends to chew holes in my pants pockets. Solution is iron on patches from Walmart.
Can you please show the actual “printing” of the holsters? I have a hard time finding actually holsters that don’t print in gym shorts, Like Lululemon or Vuori….
Good info about shooting from the hip! I have a few of the Sticky holsters. I can’t carry at work anyway, but this is perfect for me to my vehicle AIWB. I secure it before going in to work. When I’m leaving work, it also rides home with me AIWB. One size fits all 3 of my edc -which I do practice with all 3.
I know man, that’s what I’ve always said. Why are these TH-camrs so anal about showing everybody that their gun is clear? Are they afraid they’re going to shoot somebody on the video?
Great video thanks for posting. I have an Elite Survival for a 365 and a 42/43 and hold the firearm securely and stay put when I draw the weapon. The only problem is they tend to print a bit in dress pants or khakis I am interested in a kydex holster, specifically the vedder pocket locker. I was wondering how badly it prints. It looks like it will not do a great job based on the profile.
The urban carry g3 is an excellebt option for discreet carry and it keeps your gun ao clean. Youll need to oil your gun before you clean your gun. Excellent option.
I'm another DeSantis Nemesis owner. Given your circumstances, I can see why you prefer the Pocket Locker. But for me, I'm a retired guy, so I'm not as active as you. Oh, I do chores in the back yard (we keep chickens and rabbits), and go for 3-mile walks with the wife and dog, so I'm not exactly sedentary, either. But I'm not generally climbing ladders (let alone falling off of them), or putting in a full work day. So my rig of choice is my Taurus GX4 micro9 + DeSantis Nemesis (#N38BJE1Z0) pocket holster + Coleman's canvass utility pants. With the Nemesis there's no printing to speak of. You know what I mean: you might be able to tell that I have something in that pocket, but it's not at all obvious that it's a pistol. The trigger guard is fully covered, the gun is easily accessible, makes for a fast and smooth draw, and the holster stays put.
I tried pocket carry with a shield, but it was way to snaggy For striker-fired semi autos I would definitely go with the Vedder, however my typical pocket carry is an LCR in a Mika's pocket holster
I see so many good reviews of the Sticky and I'm wondering if they're sponsored because it seems like such a flawed system. Trigger is easily accessible and the firearm can slide right out of the holster and you can lose the entire gun and holster in IWB if you move around much.
Problem with Vedder is that Vedder doesn’t make one for my LCP MAX with a ArmaLaser installed on it so it’s a moot point! Something beats nothing every time, just like what’s the best caliber?? 😎
I feel the same way! I really like the barson IWB non/tuckable for my shield 2.0 or Plus. My gun free zone carry gun is a Kahr p380 with a Vedder pocket locker. About to upgrade to a Glock 42 for pocket carry only. I’ve been doing some consideration to buy a pocket locker for my shield 2.0 but I feel the weight of the 2.0 in a pocket is a bit much and then wasting another 65$ for a holster I’ll never use. The shields are my favorite edc. Particularly the 1.0 or 2.0. Check out the Barsony and see what you think.
Well said, I feel my Shield is to heavy in pocket, I am using a Houston double clip model very comfortable for me. Looking to use Desantis Nemesis on my Glock 42 be well
I own a LCP Max, and I carry it inside a Sticky holster made for a Glock 42, I placed a small piece of rag inside which it brings the LCP to the perfect height and a very smooth draw. I also have a Vedder pocket holster for it but it’s extremely tight and I have to make sure that I use the thumb rest to break free the LCP first.
@@johnbankston72 this is not the first time I have used a Vedder pocket holster they have been very good for me but this one has not loosened up I have been thinking about sending it back to see if they can fix it. But I’m extremely happy with the Sticky holster plus I have placed a Velcro strip on either side of the trigger guard ( on holster of course) which gives it that extra grip for the pocket and protection for the trigger. I still recommend the Vedder holster to anyone. I forgot to mention the vedder holster does extend a bit so you can push with your thumb to break loose so that is a plus.
Problem with pocket locker is the size and hardness, the sticky I can put in my pants pocket or jacket and it is not bulky. Remora is more sticky but a bit bulkier. I like the remora with a clip for inside the waist, soft and not bulky. Problem with kydex is so hard and large. Have not found a kydex holster that feel good IWB. Prefer OWB.
