Every time I have had these floors laid all in one direction for an entire house there is always a room or two you have to lay it in backwards to achieve the seamless look. We try to Identify those rooms at the start and start with those. Gets all the hard work is out of the way and nobody tries to cut corners at the end.
I hope this flooring doesn't expand with heat/wear and tear, because I didn't see any gaps left on the sides. I was always told to leave 1cm (1 finger thickness) open at each side of the vinyl flooring..
I work for a flooring store Cortec is our most popular with the best customer service . Also you can just cut it down with a utility blade and bend to snap it.
at 4:47 I was like shocked at the thickness of that. 20 millimeters? 2 whole centimeters, that's basically more than one inch!? God damn! then I checked the specs on their website and saw that it was 20 MIL . ... about 0.5mm (millimeters). got me! Never knew MIL (plural MILS) was a thing, a thousands of an inch.
We used Core tech in our bedroom closets (7x11 each). My husband had to build a secret entrance in the floor of his to get to the crawlspace. He also covered it with the core tech. It looks amazing!!
Hello. I have a lot of respect for what you do. I do everything myself in our apartment, my husband and I. I build cupboards, I wallpaper and paint walls, lay laminate, put stones on walls and also build furniture. The only thing I don't do is electricity and plumbing. My husband is responsible for electrical outlets because he learned to use electricity. If I could do an apprenticeship again today (I'm 52) I would learn to be a carpenter. Best wishes. Kind regards, Natascha from Germany
A tapping block makes installing backwards easy work also invest in an undercut saw for your future projects makes cutting trim way faster, and you're able to use a masonry blade to cut any brick work. It makes scribing almost totally necessary
Another great episode. I've been loving this series and I don't think I've missed an ep. That final walk through is going to b one hell of a video and quite a project to hang your hat on! Keep on truckin!
One thing I'd have done differently is making sure the sub floor is clean before laying the flooring over the top of it...sweep, vacuum, mop with a damp mop to collect the rest of the stubborn dust...the end result will be even better...BUT regardless it does look nice...
I may be wrong but i believe for concrete application and not wood subfloor it requires a thin plastic vapor barrier. Looking at getting the exact same flooring. Nice install!
We do that here in the US as well though it depends on the flooring. Some, like the tiles in this video, already have a membrane attached which doesn't require the foam roll underneath. Probably still a good idea to throw the foam under there regardless for, as you said, evening out the floor overall.
Flooring installer of 10 years here, coretec locking technology is a bear to install backwards. The typical way I do it is by angling my piece at a 45° and sliding it and unfortunately when installing backwards you have to use your bang bar an a mallet. Also the wider and longer the floor the more difficult to install.
I'm just about to put similar flooring down in our 20x20 office in our house. The room has baseboard heating on three walls and a weird transition to the living room. So I"m not really looking forward to it. I ripped the carpet out of the room, like 6 months ago. So my wife is getting tired of it not getting done. I'ver had a few valid excuses as to why it hasn't been done, I got injured and was out of commission for 2 months. Then I got really sick, but thats over now. So I'm going to just try and slap it down.
Cool you worked out the bedroom to the rest of the flooring. But curious, could you pull the bedroom flooring to match the rest? After all, it a flotation flooring. With extra help I bet you could.
Like everything done so far except the cabinets on each side of the fireplace. Don’t think they fit the overall look of the living room as they are so bulky. Think floating shelves or just bookcases would have been more ideal
It's too late to help you bro.But an iron, an old goodwill iron. We'll loosen the glue. You need parchment paper or something. As well so the iron doesn't stick to the plastic... It makes a huge difference
I had floors with that black glue and the first time I replaced with laminate floors and that black stuff bleed through my laminate floor so we had to replace again but we put a thicker protective Sheets on floor then replaced the laminate It was so hard
Every project is perfectly done, it is just the order of things that gets me confused. Doing demo work so late in the project when everithing is freshly painted and mint is hard for me to understand. Otherwise great work!
Can some one tell me what that tool he used to cut the flooring is called? It looks like a circular saw but I haven’t seen one on a floor track like that. Looking for the make and model if possible.
It is the Ryobi Flooring Saw model PGC21K. You can buy "tool only" if you already have Ryobi batteries and chargers. SKIL also makes a flooring saw model 3601-02.
Why not just completely remove all that before building the fireplace and everything else. Would make clean up way easier in the end. Now he has to go back and clean all the finished surface from that dust.
He complains when the old floor was coming off too easy. He complains was it was hard? Don't you want it to be hard(that's what she said)? That means it was done correctly.
lol even though I believe you said it a million times before you forgot to add the most important reason you want to leave the marking and that's because you don't want to cut to much off
I was just gonna say that. We had those tiles in our old home and the contractor who came in to redo them had to put on a hazmat suit and respirator. He said it was over kill bc it had to be very tiny to get in your lungs or skin but he wasn’t taking any chances. At least he had a respirator on.
you actually install floors with the light source, you in this house, the floor is actually installed wrong. Why? Cause the room looks bigger and you cant see the joint. But still good job.
@Mr.Buildit did you check that those tiles don’t have asbestos? and that mask is not very good either. I feel afraid for you Ps Keep the good work and great videos coming
I'm not American so I don't know the regs and what was built with back in the 60s, but they look like they could be asbestos to me? You aren't protecting yourself nearly enough.
It’s hard to tell the type of tile that you are ripping up in your video here. But based on the size and what I could tell, the material is. In my area. Sometimes tiles this size contain asbestos
No hate or anything love your work! But why do so many people feel the need to remove all the old flooring when installing lvp flooring? Even thin vinyl material? This lvp type of flooring easily goes over all flooring types. As long as the floor is relatively smooth and even I’d say it’s definitely a waste of time and hard labor to do all the work to take up the old material
The way this house is transforming is NUTS. Every component of each video is one step closer to such a beautiful asset.

In the UK we put a thin layer of foam underlay under this type of flooring. Makes it more comfortable (and warmer) to walk on.
I'm dealing with the exact same situation. Heat gun is really, really helping.
One of the most satisfying renovations. Lots of hard labour & time invested, but this house looks so cool now 🍀👏🏽
I hope this flooring doesn't expand with heat/wear and tear, because I didn't see any gaps left on the sides. I was always told to leave 1cm (1 finger thickness) open at each side of the vinyl flooring..
It won't expand. It's basically a veneer on a piece of cork
10:46 🤔 I've worked with hardwood flooring from Ollie's ngl that flooring you got I may buy if it comes in a color I want 😅

SDS with scraper go slow speed makes a huge diffrence. just went through this.
Another great video. I know such projects as well and that feeling when everything hurts from knees to the back. So respect!
Any reason why no expansion gap?

SDS rotary hammer drill, dude floors come up like butter

Those floors look great and durable!! I have luxury vinyl flooring that looks similar and they are bomb proof!
Glue contains asbestos too
Women are also toxic but we love them anyways
4:50 I dont think it has 20 milimeter of top layer haha, maybe 2 milimeter :) The whole thing is probably between 6 and 9 milimeters.

Beautiful floor and labor
There’s also a tool that snaps or cuts the flooring pieces; absolute game changer!!! 🙌🏻

Looks fantastic! What a job!
Genius tip with that washer scribe!
Why didnt you clean the floors before you put the laminate down? Just curious
great!
Wouldn’t it be better to demo the floor before painting the walls and doing other finishes in the rooms like the built ins and fireplace, etc?
I could feel the ad at 4:49

i hope he made sure to really deep clean that floor with a vacuum cleaner before installing the flooring
Looks like the ceiling needs to be repainted.
Beautiful flooring
Hey man! Awesome job as usual - also, your hair looks great! Good to see that the HRP went well!!!!
Did you not use spacers to have an expansion gap up against the walls? That floor might pop out of place when the weather changes.
Love the videos and the series but the perps not lining up make me cry.
Like everything done so far except the cabinets on each side of the fireplace. Don’t think they fit the overall look of the living room as they are so bulky. Think floating shelves or just bookcases would have been more ideal
Going the wrong way with LVP sucks! But it can be done. Nice scribing tip with the washer!

I really hope the black does not come through the cork backing because it will come through the laminate and you will have spots that are disclored
This. I’ve done the same. Best case is the glue is tacky and you hear it all the time as the floor sticks to it when you walk over it.
How are the plugs coming in?
Excellent video
Here for the 'no expansion gap' and 'stairway to heaven' pattern.
The sheer tenacity...
Get a sample of the floor tested for asbestos brother!
What is the brand of this floor?
i feel tired just watching you video's brother.. soo much effort goes into reno's!
How much did you spend on the flooring?
Hey just curious, what are your plans with the house once finished?
Lesson learned put the doors in after the flooring hahah just messing but good work man!
Is this a flip house to rent or sell or what?
Not vacuuming before flooring🥴
If he did the math backwards in the last room , then he wouldn’t have needed a transition 🤔 right?
Living room: 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
The guy who added to this house must have been crazy lol
Ya

Don't you want it to be hard(that's what she said)? That means it was done correctly.
I've never seen anyone using their leg to cut wood before. That was scary
Must have not worked in the construction industry. 😂😂
Did you get that tile tested for asbestos?
Who cares? Wear a mask and double bag it.
I’m not a huge fan of ryobi but that pseudo track saw you used for the flooring was neat.
lol even though I believe you said it a million times before you forgot to add the most important reason you want to leave the marking and that's because you don't want to cut to much off
Pain in the crotch?!?! The house is coming along beautifully!
That is asbestos tile

Ok? And? Just wear PPE and double bag it. HGTV has put fear into everyone when it comes to asbestos. Just take precautions.
@@lscales6131if I’m a flooring guy, I’m going all out. If I’m a homeowner doing my own floors, a simple mask respirator works.
Early in the series, before doing any significant demo inside of the house, he had various samples tested for asbestos, including the tile.
@@puckrocker854 that’s good to hear.
FYI 20 mil is 0.020 inches, not 20 millimeters
Dude!!!!! With all due respect… Clean your floors from all that dirt, dust and debris before laying the floor!
I appreciate that the curse words are muted in your videos, thank you.
no subfloor under the laminate? Cold feet entered the chat. (nvm it has cork on the back. my bad.)
Why replace the subfloor that is already there?
@@saulgoodman2018 because of isolation and sound dampening, I'm talking about a foam subfloor that you put inbetween...
@@Refilon That is the cork on the back replaces that.
@@saulgoodman2018 my bad then I must have skimmed past that part
I probably still would've put an underlayment even though it has cork.

IMHO, but patterned vinil flooring is ugly. I preffer random floor alignment.
