Obviously we don't want to lose our dominance in sprinting. Nobody is saying we do. However, losing sprinting doesn't stop us from being happy for our field athletes. Stona won our FIRST ever gold medal in throwing and Campbell won our FIRST ever throwing medal before that. It would make 0 sense to sit there and be upset when thats going on because sprinting has been going poorly.
Roje Stona's gold medal will always be remembered ....especially because that was the only time our national anthem was played.....Yes!! We need to get back to the tracks but.......
We are already cemented as a sprinting nation. This year is just not our year it does not mean we have stopped being a highly rated sprinting nation. Seeing the field events athletes winning is however refreshing. We don’t have to sit and wait on track action plus they are winning. Full time we start dominating on an all round basis like USA regardless of our numbers.
Certain schools DO. How do you think we got Carey McLeod, Wayne Pinnock and Jaydon Hibbert all of whom went from that school to the University of Arkansas. Stona also doing his Master's at Arkansas collecting his Bachelor's from there last yr. Should MORE schools invest in field events? ABSOLUTELY.
@@michaelmaxwell2464 I remember Wayne pinnock from watching Champs, and I know Stona goes to University of Arkansas and is coached by the American Shotput Champion and I know Shanieka was a star at champs what I should have said is a program that is of equal importance in the field events

Shericka is currently our main athlete and she is injured, and that is potentially 3 gold medals right there alone. Watson injured, shelly injured, elaine injured. I am just glad that we are getting medal. The field athletes are definitely standing up for us. We need to give them more respect.
Congratulations to all the field athletes. They are often underlooked and now it's their time to shine. We will do better in the next Olympics in both the field and track events.
I am impressed with the field medals. Thank you guys. Well done and all of Jamaica are proud of your field performances. I am getting disgusted with Oral’s negative and immature commentaries. We have had our ups and downs with track events and will be back; but diversity in sports is very good. I would not pit one area against the other. The real challenge is the management of our track and field programme and that is where some attention must be placed. We need an independent audit and an inquiry in what has gone wrong with the administration of our most important programme in this Olympic; and steps taken to address the issues affecting its continued growth and development.
It should not be one or the other concerning field events and track events. We can still get back to dominance in the sprints and continue to grow and get medals in the field events. Glamor events depends on who you are talking to, how they feel about a particular event or sport.
Two things can be true.... 1. We are in crisis for our track events. 2. Field events made our anthem play, same like how the sprint would have.. Medal is a Medal.... Don't discredit the field events.
I hope all the Jamaican field event athletes watch this video, read the comments & see that they are less than & their medals don't count according to Maverick & the people who agree with him.

I have to realize Oral Stands with Administrations and not ATHLETES. We are watching you Oral. You beat the Reggae Girls standing up for their rights and now DODS. Its the Athletes whose sweats and tears make Jamaica what it is. Never forget that!!
If we were Europeans from Poland, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Germany setting an Olympic record in an event sugu as Discus would be a very big feature it all comes down to culture and our culture values the sprints more depending on culture events are equally as important and breaking such an Olympic record is very important
Only Failure will make you truly appreciate success. Jamaicans have been spoiled rotten past 20 years in sprinting. Entitlement bred in...maybe now they will know winning was not guarantee. Those past JA athletes had to risk it all to reach the mountain of gold. JA will be back on top but cherish those moments of success because its not guaranteed every Olympic
I agree with that assessment. Years from now Stona name will be in the record books yes! but on the broader spectrum, his name won't be the topic of conversation in many circles. What happen in the 100m final certainly will be what people gonna be debating. We are certainly happy a excited that the world see that Jamaica can also produce gold medal field athletes so dem cant count we out but when it comes to track Jamaica name will always be in the conversation including that foto finish decision. So a real talk Maverick.
Kmt nobody ever said or feels that a field event medal is equivalent to a sprint event medal, but a win is win and it should be celebrated equally as much .
People realize that Jamaica rank No.1 in the World in Olympics by far, based on both GDP and Per Capita!!! Amaizing aint? Gratitude is a must. Well done to all our athletes, none of us want the victory more than them, and none more disappointed than them.
Sprints are not the only events in the Olympics so please respect the achievements. Jamaica has been spoilt because we dominated the sprints for so long but to discount the field events and their success in this Olympics is myopic.
Not taking away noting from the field events athletes and medals won. But has you say it on point mr Tracy, the SPRINTS is the cream of the crop events we needs to dominate and take back home has in our glory days😮.
Bigup to the Jamaican field event athletes. You made us proud 👏🏾 Bigup unnu damn self. ❤❤ Kishane did not lose. He was deprived of his gold medal by shameless people.
I hope our disastrous performance in the track events trigger the Jamaican people enough to call for the necessary changes to grant us further success in the years to come. We need new blood and our dominance will wane until we again find the prospective athletes that can make us proud. The great trio Shelly, Shericka, and elaine have now seen better days.
So true, we have had a wonderful 20 years of sprint domination. It will take time, effort and good management to get there again. We had the blueprint but through carelessness and mismanagement we seem to have lost it.
i don't care as much as i love track and FIELD and was looking forward for the events but right now a medal is medal big up to the once who did their best to achieve them much ❤for my country Jamaica 🇯🇲
Based of your fair and fearless analysis Thompson Dodd’s plight is factual track events get preferential treatment by the Jamaican officials and field events must make water into wine with little support. This is the reason why when they even medal it’s literally more valuable than any track event
You are speaking around the need for a CLEAN HOUSE of the JAAA and JOA. Just like how you came out and boastfully blame Kishane so too you should come out and blame our incompetent leaders for this global fiasco. Our young black brothers in Kenya and Nigeria protesting for good governance, I salute your bravery. Sad to see that Jamaicans have become used to second class treatment and would rather stand by and let our hard earned Brand die because of their cowardice in holding leaders accountable. Marcus Garvey must be turning in his grave right now asking the eternal question. "Den a coulda who dem?"
We commend the other athletes for their success but the sprints are the marquis events. It is great to see the development in the field events and we need to continue to grow these area to compliment the success we have on the sprints.
Him start out every show saying "Fair and Fearless analysis." Him analysis is always fearless but never fair. It's cold track and field, not track and track. The medals are equivalent. Especially since we are holding another world record. You have gold fih open mouth medal. We not underperforming either. Jamaica is a dot performing on the world stage. We should be proud of all of the athletes.
We can dominate in events other than the sprints. The things that are stopping us is that we don't have the resources, facilities and the athletes do not have the type of patience to train to do middle and long distance running. Most of the time we Jamaicans like to perform but don't like practice and training. Nuff respect to the athletes thus far
Mav...this is not panicking position that Jam is in. Its just the backbone support that our girls normally provide that has been missing. They are normally very reliable going all the way back to Juliet and Merlene. That sprint powerhouse was due largely to Legend Bolt's gauranteed 3 golds
Maverick the current set up is unsustainable for us to continue the dominance we once had , there has been no infrastructural development despite the achievements of our athletes, in past Olympiad and World Championships, The JAAA’s lack of vision and strategic planning is reason for the current decline in our performances.
U r been absolutely nuance on this video.Yow medal is a medal.it takes a village get that sink inna u membrane.C the woman a ball? No coach for 2,5 weeks.Mr Nuance😭😞
It is more good than bad for the track and field results. We have older athletes that did not have much to contribute, and we were always worried about what would happen going forward. We now have a proven and tested male one-hundred-meter runner in Kishane - which we never had. We now have a NINETEEN-year-old female sprinter, who looks extremely good for the future, and Lyston is still waiting in the wings. We have demonstrated that, even with the changing of the guards today, we will be able to do better next big games. We might even win gold in the male one hundred and at least a bronze in the female version. Kishane won silver, but Seville is at least 'up there' too with Noah Lyles, the best they have. We exposed future athletes, and they did not do badly. With most of our female fire power diffused before the games started, we were always depending on other events. It is unfortunate that Shelly Ann and Shericka robbed some of our girls the experience. This is very selfish and detrimental to team Jamaica. That's the part I am ruffled about.
With this reasoning we shouldve never celebrated the Reggae Girlz getting to the world cup because the mens team failed and thats where the real money is. Slippery slope. All medals should be celebrated regardless of how they’re received on the circuit. Some countries would do ANYTHING for one gold.
Field events medal is of the same value. Its only because we are used to the glamour of track events why but at the end of the day they all add up in the tally of medals.
Boss man, I must disagree with your analysis. This should not be about comparing the value of a medal based on the associated event, but rather, we should acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of our athletes regardless of the event. Must admit that from a track perspective, there is work to be done as we did not achieve as expected. Our athletes work their butts off, so I am sure they will be ready for the next championship, putting us back on top. Nevertheless, I am an avid fan of your commentary and also look forward to your analysis. Big up!
There should be no comparisons of medal. Every one is significant.... to categorize which medal and event makes no sense vs which makes sense is like disregarding the hard work the athletes put in to accomplish what they achieved. Jamaica will always be a sprint nation and we in no way wanna substitute medals in the field events for the sprints. But this year isn't the greatest for us in the sprints/tracks and the fields step up and we are grateful.... this is not a time to be comparing medals 😢 we want to get even better in the fields and to get back to the place we were in the tracks. That's all....
Direct competition is what brings excitement and is most entertaining to the spectators and without it these stadiums would mostly be empty, after all is said and done these direct competitions brings on a war mentality where your country(persons) must win. Watching the shot put is akin to watching golf.
olympic medals are all the same not because more people follow the sprints.athletes are passionate and will cry if they fall short of a medal no matter the event.
I don’t see it as a deferral from sprint just mishaps. I’ve been waiting for this balancing in all areas for Jamaica’s track and field “program. Next is the rise of the middle distances, YES!! The sprints will return. We need a national T&F program JAAA name only changed they’re still hanging on to the “Amateur” moniker. We need a true govt and private sector partnership for T&F progress.
Who is arguing that all is well because we got field events medals? Has the disappointment not been widespread? At the same time we should CELEBRATE the field athletes and give them greater support so that their accomplishments become the norm. And I don't know why Tracey is belittling the field events. It's unnecessary.
I hear you but at the end of the day every medal count's as the more events we medal in the more our prestige as a global athletic powerhouse grow's. We're already strong in the sprints but balance and variety is the key. That is what the US has over other nations who send large contingents to every event. Seeing the results we've had in Paris it is time to put more resources into field events as those athletes are beginning to earn their keep. No need to pick one over the other. With competent leadership we can do both. 9:469:46
The jamaican track athletes seemed waaay off the pace. For the 4x1 mens relay team not to get out of the heats , is sending a signal. Ending up 5th is ok ...things to come , Parchment in last place , Oblique last ? Wtf ? Seems Franno and Mills are falling behind in coaching . Itl be a few years of effort before Jamaica is a world power again 😢
In all fairness to Mr Mills, remember that Oblique Seville ran more than credible given the fact that he had just been to Germany to see Hans. His groin just couldn’t hold up to the intense pressure from 3 tedious rounds of the 100m. Hopefully, he’ll get back healthy enough to be on the podium @ World Championship in Tokyo next year.
Maverick, You are not wrong- we want the prestige of the sprint medals, but this games, olympics 2024, is in full swing and we are not getting that. Stop shrouding the joy with such immediate rants. A caveated congratulations can be passed on. Lets give the respect without the caveat. We did good in the field event, lets show love for that- because we are surely not getting the sprint trophies now. Onwards, to more glory in field events, and onwards to reclaiming our sprint crown.
We happy that the field events step up when the sprints fail us . Great sprinters will always come throught but we are down so we happy with the field medals ..
Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion. Congratulations Sir Stona. I will remember your Olympic Victory, more than Noah " Lies" ( overrated).. lucky Gold.
Hey Maverick - Stop talk down di people dem medal - It's an equal playing field - Olympic dominance in any event is a seasonal thing - Though USA and Jamaica are the 2 most dominant sprint nations from time to time other countries produce athletes that upset us. It's not lack of effort; Jamaica still has one of the best track and field program in the world and its Island wide. It just happen that sometimes the talent is not there so it's good that we are not a one dimensional country. It's called track and field, don't belittle the field medals - I would like to see Jamaica in gymnastics, swimming, rowing, weightlifting, wrestling etc
Hey Maverick nothing is wrong with medals in the field events, maybe this will motivate the sprinters more to rededicate themselves, don't water down their performance. The 100m has always been the star event of track and field...let's celebrate the winnings no matter which event we get them from.
Let's give thanks to the field events team. We should endeavor to be a powerhouse in those events. However, we should never surrender our ranking as number 1 on the track.

All athletes work hard and deserve the same respect and support for representing their country.
That's true
Jamaicans are very industrious they should start doing other events, even break dancing, and rock climbing so they can get more medals.
Tebogo saved Track and field
I don't know about that, but it definitely saved us from hearing Lyles yap and brag even more.
Yes big up Bostwana and Mr. Tebogo ! Millions of people had that 200 wrong . I was not one of them.
@@IanJames_4 Did you see how him nearly have a breakdown after he saw that he did not win! I was so concern for him. Behind all that chatter he is very fragile. Bless him.
So happy for him and Botswana, love the tribute he paid to his beloved mother who passed away in May. Don't know if you have seen it in Jamaica. Proud of the way he dealt with the press too. They asked him about being the face of athletics and he basically said leave that to Noah, because he is loud and arrogant 😂😂😂
@@alwaysbeautiful3696 Lyes has covid again SMH. Lyes and Mu are very covid sensitive.
It’s all hard work Maverick, whether you look at it from a track or field point a view. I sympathized with the young athlete earlier pleading about support for her field event area and not having her coach present.. Me ah watch you step.. 🏃🏽♂️
That is why we need to pay more attention to the field events also.
All Jamaicans care about Lestile Tebogo beat Noah Lyles in 200m final
Meanwhile team jamica is in shambles. You guys are worried about the wrong thing

We need to get back to the tracks but.......
i think so too, why he thinks he should diminish the youth accomplishment. As if its a normal feat
Jamaica must invest time in field events also training at school as well.
@@michaelmaxwell2464 Notice where they went University of Arkansas, I said Jamaica I see Tajay Gayle regular because he trains at MVP and I go to that specific university where MVP is based
@@michaelmaxwell2464 It wasn't Stona who was our known discus star it was Dacres as he won world silver before and he and Travis Smikle came from Calabar under that discus program.
Let us look at a comparison then. Michael Sharp passed away years ago. His name will always be remembered. Oral Tracey is not as famous even while he is alive. Oral Tracey’s brand goes as far as the Jamaican borders. The reality is that people like this man contributes to media confusion.
I think the negative energy from the administrative team this time around is spilling over on some of the athletes
How so, it's one complaint, so Sherica injured didn't mess up three medals, it the JAA 😂😅
BTW, Field Events contracts amount is generally much larger than Track contracts...
Wow didn’t know that
The marathon runner makes the money.
Maverick needs a good cut hip 😂...respk all disciplines of the Olympics track ain the original Olympics discipline ...it's a good sell but it ain original ... apologize to the Dodds ...you were totally wrong Mr Tracey
at least we diversifying, so when we back in Track we can dominate it all
Field events suppose to be extra medals... We supposed to be using those to reach 20+ medals.
Exactly!
Dat mi deh ya prep seh if d track did a gwan wid tings we wuda clap d twenty wid ease
Me agree....because after the 100m Sunday me depressed
Ah Stona bring mi back to life like Lazarus 😅
Two things can be true....
1. We are in crisis for our track events.
2. Field events made our anthem play, same like how the sprint would have..
Medal is a Medal.... Don't discredit the field events.
I hope all the Jamaican field event athletes watch this video, read the comments & see that they are less than & their medals don't count according to Maverick & the people who agree with him.
Our athletes have done their best to represent 🇯🇲 I am super excited that Tebogo showed Noah Lyles who is the big man. So I guess that Noah is now depressed. That press conference interview must be haunting him now😂 Tebogo wrote the wrong that was done to Kishane 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Back to the drawing board Maverick
Only Failure will make you truly appreciate success. Jamaicans have been spoiled rotten past 20 years in sprinting. Entitlement bred in...maybe now they will know winning was not guarantee. Those past JA athletes had to risk it all to reach the mountain of gold.
JA will be back on top but cherish those moments of success because its not guaranteed every Olympic
Well said.
Jaaa need fi leggo. All a dem fi get fired! Period. Tiad a dem like Jfff.
Seems like all the sports administration/management cut from the same piece of old rag. I agree time fi dash way all of them.
Medal a medal all the events athletes had to be disciplined and work hard to achieve an Olympic medal…. Bigup all the field athletes ❤
The norms for jamaica is to see our sprinters dominate sprinting in the world.
I perfectly understand where you are coming coming from
Based of your fair and fearless analysis Thompson Dodd’s plight is factual track events get preferential treatment by the Jamaican officials and field events must make water into wine with little support. This is the reason why when they even medal it’s literally more valuable than any track event
You are speaking around the need for a CLEAN HOUSE of the JAAA and JOA. Just like how you came out and boastfully blame Kishane
so too you should come out and blame our incompetent leaders for this global fiasco. Our young black brothers in Kenya and Nigeria
protesting for good governance, I salute your bravery. Sad to see that Jamaicans have become used to second class treatment and
would rather stand by and let our hard earned Brand die because of their cowardice in holding leaders accountable.
Marcus Garvey must be turning in his grave right now asking the eternal question. "Den a coulda who dem?"
We commend the other athletes for their success but the sprints are the marquis events.
It is great to see the development in the field events and we need to continue to grow these area to compliment the success we have on the sprints.
There is no but. They can excel in all aspects of athletics. 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
I would like to see more people participate in field events and even gymnastics. We all can be runners.
True Maverick Jamaica need to dominate the sprint that is what Jamaica is for.
Hundred percent correct Mavericks! All is not weĺl, if it was never for Stona we anthem wouldn't play not even once!! Very disappointing!!
At best!!!
Me waan we have all a dem. We can dominate sprint, field, swimming, and some team events
We'll take Stona if y'all don't appreciate him, 🇺🇲🇺🇸🇺🇲🇺🇸 Ryan is doing a great job with him😊
It's very tough on our athletes to do good with the support they are receiving
Yes maverick that's true, I'm with you.
We can dominate in events other than the sprints. The things that are stopping us is that we don't have the resources, facilities and the athletes do not have the type of patience to train to do middle and long distance running. Most of the time we Jamaicans like to perform
but don't like practice and training. Nuff respect to the athletes thus far
Fair and factual point Maverick
With your reasoning you should be repeating grade 2😟
Thank God for our field event medalist, or else we would be crying more than we are. I'm not with devaluing the field event medalist.
Who is arguing that all is well because we got field events medals? Has the disappointment not been widespread? At the same time we should CELEBRATE the field athletes and give them greater support so that their accomplishments become the norm. And I don't know why Tracey is belittling the field events. It's unnecessary.
There is a clear pecking order. The field events just don't have the same prestige as the sprints!
New to track and field?
Big up all the Jamaicans regardless of event
Correct is right
I hear you but at the end of the day every medal count's as the more events we medal in the more our prestige as a global athletic powerhouse grow's. 9:46 9:46
Yes we love! respect ALL our athletes BUT I have to agree- GET BACK IN SPRINT FORM YARDIES #Lovesign #OneLove #OneJamaica #SprintFactory
Field medals good ,still.
Ah fid Dem time yes it's the changing of the guards now young people take over
Maverick,
You are not wrong- we want the prestige of the sprint medals, but this games, olympics 2024, is in full swing and we are not getting that.
I am fully agree will you marvick.
Maverick you chatting foolishness
😮 Yow easy off a The MAVERICK these are his FEARLESS 👌 OPINIONS 🎉🎉🎉 state yours and let defend them if we agree with you 😉 😅😅😅😅
All I can say is WOW at this type of attitude. You aren't dominating sprints like that anymore. No wonder track and field has it's problems. Jeesh!
