Nice Job Terry 👍🏻. Guttering is something that seems unfinished on most greenhouses. I utilised the existing gutters and joined them with UPVC into one tank. It is amazing just how much water is collected from the roof. Happy new year to you and your family 😀

I gotta set up a rainwater collection system for this winter. It's a shame I didn't have it this last year, california got record rainfalls, it was madness! Great for the soil and lakes, our soil was like concrete last year I don't know if I'd even have been able to dig it without wetting it down for a few days with the hose prior to digging. Any-hoo though. I gotta do this, I have 4 mango trees and they don't like salt or high ph in their water and our city tap has both, apparently a lot of city water systems can tend to have sodium in the water and the mango leafs get salt burn on the tips of the leaves and eventually they just shed them cause mango trees(avocados as well) are not able to process salt as other plants so that's all they can do when they get salt in them. But rainwater doesn't have that so I gotta do this. Apparently some states actually have laws against collecting rainwater in America if you can believe that, I don't even know how that's possible or how they'd enforce it, but they have lawd against it in some states. Luckily I don't think mine is one of them. The laws that the powers that be come up with can truly boggle ones mind at times. As if they have nothing bigger and more concerning to fine and arrest people with than collecting rain to water their gardens, haha. It's all about money, God forbid someone find a way to get some free water and the government gets cheated out of 60 or 70 dollars... siiiigh... thats a whole other can of worms though and I can talk about the government and their nonsense for hours, lol. So I'll spare you that side of me hahaha. Sorry this got so long and I left a couple other comments too. I tend to watch your videos in clusters and want to comment on all of them. Thanks for taking the time to read them and not chewing me out for writing too much. And last but not least, who on earth is putting thumbs down on your videos? Lol, who actually does that on a gardening video, bunch of buttheads that's who. Sorry for them, just think of all the people who like them and forget those asshats.
after my attempt to put a water barrel by the greenhouse? the water barrel can stay down the bottom of the garden, terry. I tried to set everything up last spring. the butt is on a plinth. unfortunately the soil is soft where it was going. I firmed the soil with my heels and laid a few broken flagstones. the plinth was set and the butt was lain on top. the butt was filled via hosepipe so I had immediate access. all I had to do was turn my back. the weight of the water sunk one of the flagstones too far. after hearing the crash of a butt full of water falling AWAY from my greenhouse you will understand my decision. lol. ............brian
allotment life its surprising how heavy water is and yes a good stable base is required, hope you have more success in the future. 🌱Happy Gardening my friend, Terry.
I have the exact same greenhouse ours is sold by a company called Harbor freight unfortunately ours do not have glass in them they have the poly carbonate.
Hello Alan, the blue barrels are delivered to our work with Add blue in them and they aren't returnable so I recycle them. I have them all over the allotments now if you have seen one of my recent video's. Happy gardening, Terry King.
The metal guttering is intergrated and I couldn't fix anything to the ends and because I wanted to collect water from both sides I did it this way, which has worked for several years with no issues. I now have 7 barrels conected to this system. Happy gardening, Terry King.
@@terrykingsallotmentgardening Yes. I've discovered that now! I've managed to attached some PVC guttering below my existing greenhouse's mtal gutter rail, bent the ends flat and just need to attach some ends to divert the water from one to the other!

Why attach the PVC guttering to the existing metal guttering, rather than removing and replacing it??
