  • Rainwater is ideal for watering plants, the challenge is to catch it using a regular polytunnel. In this video we'll show you how we installed a gutter on our polytunnel without straight sides or guide rail. We use a 12V pump to move the water until we have the connections for the IBC tanks. Later we'll be connecting a garden hose for easy watering. Another video on this to follow.

Great job on the gutter. Lovely to see you thinking of local animals who might fall in as well. We unfortunately lost a pet to this happening years ago and it still plays on my mind every time I see a totally open water tank.

Now that is a cute little bird. Good job on the guttering for catching the rainwater for the polytunnel.

I put on overflow from my first tank to a second tank w 2” pvc pipes. And from 2nd to third. And finally a drain on the third one w option to add more.

@@GardensforLife Yes, You use a hole saw to cut it to the right sive to install pvc fittings as close to the top of the container while it is still a flat mount. but yes, you have to drill into the tank.

@@alveygardens Got it, Thanks! I don't mind drilling holes, the only trouble is now that the tanks are full so i can't move them at the moment :D

Bird droppings are on the roof. Rainwater should be collected for about half an hour to water the flowers. After half an hour, the rainwater should be boiled for drinking.

why didn't you plug pipes on the bottom taps of the tanks? much easier and no pump needed
