I think I like the lighter wood varieties but a little of both would be a good mix. I never plan anything when doing an island, which probably shows with the chaos and villagers I end up with. I mostly just go with what I am given. I am not computer savvy and, though I do jot down ideas on the old paper and pen method, I tend to just go with what seems to fill an area at the time.
I think planning has really helped me keep focus since I was very much an easy going builder before, the act of actually recording has made me build more seriously. But! If it’s just for fun then whatever is most enjoyable matters more ❤️ and I’m going to have to try a couple combinations and see how things go this time 😅👍
