@@mattbryonphoto2357 I wasn’t sure if it was speakers or just that digital allows much higher frequencies to get through than tube amps. Although, I do keep the presence pretty low on the Deville. It can get pretty bright. In this video, I tried to get the two amps as close in tone as possible.
A had a bit tiny bit more midrange distortion. B had a little more reverb and was "cleaner" from what I heard. Might be wrong but I think A was the Deville. Both sound good in the recording.
@@border2beachwithchipleach63 Well I couldn't tell much difference, but if I owned both, I'd have opinions based on their sound quality, weight etc., which would inform my decision. So to clarify my question: would you sell the valve amp or the modeller?
@ I honestly would hate to sell either of them. If I sold the TM I’d have to replace it with another amp that was more gigable than my Deville. Also, though I would never want to sell my Deville just because it is a great tube amp. Even though it’s not practical or reliable enough to gig with anymore.
@ mostly because it is 20 years old now. I bought it new. It did break down on me the first year I owned it. It has had a few reliability issues while gigging, but most of those have been in the last five years. I’m sure it could be made reliable again.
@ I didn’t want to give it away too soon but Actually the Tone master is A and the Deville is B. Don’t feel bad about getting it wrong though. I intentionally set the eq’s to sound as much alike as I could. Even while playing the two of them side by side using the A/B switch it was difficult to tell which amp I was playing through at times.
gotta baby that tone master, theres a full fledged computer inside, with cpu, memories, A/D converters and lots of thin ribbon cables.
@@djkamilo66 I had to take my Deville to the shop the first year of its life. So far, I e had my TM two years trouble free. Knock on wood!
Most of the top end chime is from the Jensen’s in the tone master.

Just wish they weren't so dang expensive
Me too. As much as I love my TM SR, if it goes down, I will probably not buy another because of the price.
Can you tell which is which?
Which one do you prefer?
If you really needed some money, and had to sell one of these amps, which would you let go?
@@1man1guitarletsgo let me ask you the same question. A or B?

@@border2beachwithchipleach63 why do you believe the deville is not reliable?

Amp A sounds better to my ears. More depth to the tone. I'm guessing that it's the Deville.
@@kingstumble Amo A is the Tone Master and B is the Deville.
@@border2beachwithchipleach63 Wow. Thanks. Shows how little I know.
@ Don’t feel bad. It was hard to tell which was which after a while even in the room. I tried to adjust them as close as possible.
Deville sounds better. There's a weird EQ quality to all of the tonemasters that can't be dialed out.
@@a1-wm7fg But what I’m asking is “which is which” is the Tone Master A or B?
@@border2beachwithchipleach63 Tonemaster is B
