    Ah man it's fascinating to see my old scene get scrutinized 5 years later :D
    I'm actually surprised to see it holds up alright for the intends and purposes it was made for at the time.

      It's your scene? ;D Thanks for making it- I was looking for something free yet properly made (not random scatter of intersected rocks) on Marketplace. It's well optimized, save for the 4K succulents

      @@TechArtAid thanks! Yes the 4k texture were a unique decision for this project, I wanted to provide the source texture resolution for ArchViz-close up shots. I actually included a document link in the decscription explaining that for realtime purposes, the max texture size resolution should be clamped down :D
      I am however surprised at my past self that no lodding was included whatsoever. I could swear that was a requirement for the asset store...

    So, if I understand correctly, it's a good practice to have high resolution textures, but then reduce their size in-engine as you start optimising the game?

    • @TechArtAid
      @TechArtAid  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, it's an easy way to control the final size. Though if you're already sure about the max resolution, resizing in Photoshop, Affinity or Krita with bicubic/Lanczos will give you better quality (Unreal resizes with box aka linear)

    Really useful tips here. Can you make a video like this but with a scene using Lumen in UE 5.2.0? I know it takes a lot of time but Lumen sometimes has issues like flickering and performance costs that don't know where they come from.

    • @TechArtAid
      @TechArtAid  ปีที่แล้ว

      Lumen guide would be useful as hell, that's true. Unfortunately I barely understand the system. Someone experienced in lighting would have to do it

    when my vram start to be used in 100% my normal RAM start to help and go up 100% and then Unreal crush, so beside of scene optimization the cheaper way to prevent this is to bay some RAM?( i got RTX 2060 6GB and 16gb ram) . or i need to change GPU?

    • @feanorfs6313
      @feanorfs6313 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just started learning UE5 (I work with 3dsmax+vray now) and I was very uncertain about my RX580 with 4Gb :) So I took real heavy tree from my project - about 3.5M poly with 4K textures and used about 4-5 copies of it. It took 12Gb of my 4G vram and handled it with 5-8 fps without crash! This is incredible and much better then 3dsmax could do!
      Maybe you ran out of your RAM too?

  • @feanorfs6313
    @feanorfs6313 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for the info! Could somebody help me with the GPU selection, I will work with archviz (still / video / 360*) so the projects will be huge but the frame rate is not important. The nearest 16Gb Vram gpu is RX6800 (xt) but the next RTX with more vram is 3090 which is twice as expensive. If I will use lumen
    Which is better AMD RX6800xt 16Gb or RTX3080 10Gb ?

    • @TechArtAid
      @TechArtAid  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ray tracing is useful for arch viz. I took the RX 6900, because I prefer ram, as you mentioned and I can live without RTX. Btw AMD just released newer cards

    • @feanorfs6313
      @feanorfs6313 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TechArtAid yeah, the reflections are very important, and I'm not sure if I can receive a clear result with RX and lumen. New cards are nice, but there is no info on them too. Thanks for the response.

      I use 64 GB at home, 128 at work. The latter is only needed for big world processing, like HLOD generation. Don't overspend on RAM now until DDR5 becomes cheaper imo. Instead get a great NMVe SSD, 3 TB+
