Chiefs fan here: I think Burrow is one of a handful of QBs currently playing that should call his own plays. How would you feel about that happening? I don’t watch closely enough but is he already doing it, as in are they sending him two or three options over the headset every play? How often does Burrow check out of an initial call? As for wanting the Bengals out, hell yes I didn’t want them in the playoffs! It isn’t about being scared, it is minimizing risk in trying to threepeat. The Bengals were f&$ked by the schedule makers. The Chiefs were resting starters regardless of who they were playing. Had they been matched against the Raiders while the Chargers go to Denver could have been the difference too…
The reason they did not make the playoffs is the same reason they lost the playoff games on those playoff runs... Zach Taylor!!!! Name one game this season where the Offense carried them to a victory. Typically when a QB that has 2 WRs they could at least win you 1 or 2 games that you should not when your defense and special teams struggle.... Taylor with an MVP QB and 2 WRs is always shown on the sideline praying a Kicker or the defense closes out the game... On that SB Run I think Taylor was absolutely useless. Defense played way better than their talent. They averaged 2 TOs a game on Defense, never gave up 25 points or more in all 7 playoff games and the offense with all the talent (Burrow, Mixon, chase, Higgins and Boyd) never got 28 points or more... Not once... All that talent and never got 4 TDs. Anytime they scored on offense that run it was Talent making something out of nothing after clutch TOs... Taylor cannot close a game with the best unit on the field. They only got to 9 wins as 8 of the teams they played this year were under 500. Lou had little to work with before and all he has now is Hendrickson. Defense had tons of injuries too. If they did not play Levis, DTR, Watson, Dalton, Minshew, Daniel Jones and Rush... 7 wins against Backup/Bad QBs and why is that because Taylor needs his Defense to close out games. Some of those games were way to close. 4 years later and we still need the Defense with very little talent on it to close out a game to win... I am sorry but this playoff run made it seem like the Offense carried them to the SB and Burrow and Taylor were putting up 30+ a game, when they never got to 28 points in 7 games. The reasons why Bengals won are the same reasons why Allen lost... Burrow won because his defense forced TOs getting 13 in 7 games, including the one in OT to Mahomes... And his Kicker made Kicks in the playoffs winning 2 games for him late. Allen lost games watching his defense gave up 9 straight points to mahomes with 13 seconds left in reg and his kicker missed a kick to go to OT the last year... When you have the best unit on the field you need your offense and coach to find some wins where the rest of the teams struggles. They won the coin toss in OT and it took 3 possession to win the game with a TD. They had to rely on defense to get 2 stops in OT and relied on the Back up kicker over Burrow, Chase and Higgins. They need to get a better OC and HC... If you have Burrow, Chase and Higgins and got to play 8 teams below 500 if Burrow did not put up numbers you would be alarmed. Taylor is benefiting from the talent but not winning games. We know what Taylor will do... There is no way they get 8 games next year against bad teams... So they need some big changes. I have seen enough form Taylor. And down the stretch I saw more from the defense with less talent than the offense with all the talent. I say fire Taylor and bring in a real OC/HC... Get Lou some talent on defense. No HC and QB has won a SB if they haven't in the first 5 years... Do your really think Taylor will buck that trend??? This team had one of the easiest Strength of Schedules and could not get into the playoffs... Its way worse than it looks. Everyone acting like they barely missed the playoffs when they had the easiest road to the playoffs and missed it. Just imagine what next year will be like if the schedule is harder...
I don't think anyone expected the Chiefs' reserve team to defeat the Broncos! I wouldn't have played my starters either. If there's a caveat to all this, then get ready for next season.

"Money" Mac wasn't worth much this year and missed critical 4th quarter kicks. Joe was back from injury rehab and didn't start the season like he finished it. Taylor got embarrassed by the NFC East at Paycor (ugh, that name). 0-4 home starts has "yips" written on it. Anyway, there ya go. This was a 10-7 team that went 9-8. Everyone had a role in its failure, but it's definitely fixable and probably anomalous. The difference between the Carson-Ocho and Red-Green "meh" seasons is knowing that Shiesty-Chase actually can win in the postseason.

Mahomes had to deal with a multitude of injuries on his offense as well as his own injury and still took them to a 15-1 record, making critical plays when it mattered. Bengals had a small window and it's likely closed. They got the great picks in Burrow and Chase when they were bad enough to get them, and not so good when picking later. They aren't a good enough organization to sustain success. And this is BEFORE they've paid Chase and/or Higgins or felt the full pain of Burrow's cap hit. Aint gonna get any easier with cheap ownership.

The regression of the entire secondary was crazy considering the volume of premium draft picks used for that position group.
It comes down to pass rush tbh they are nearly last in sacks and besides Trey there is no one proven. Also Dax hill and Dj turner.
the pass rush was the fault the secondary was bad. THe past 5 weeks they played better because of the past rush.

Bengals had a small window and it's likely closed. They got the great picks in Burrow and Chase when they were bad enough to get them, and not so good when picking later. They aren't a good enough organization to sustain success. And this is BEFORE they've paid Chase and/or Higgins or felt the full pain of Burrow's cap hit.
