    For anyone working on building projects that want to use exact measurements and 3D modeling I recommend SketchUp the 2017 version should be still out there and it is free. It is a 3D design software that lets you do architecture and engineer drawings. And for any renovation project for dimensions a laser measurer is a life saver.

    This building is beautiful and will make a great home for your family! One thing I would like if it were my home is a place to put the kids bikes and out door play equipment, most people use their garage for this need. Also, a mud room or large entry way to use as a drop zone for the kids. A very large pantry would bet great. Lastly, a covered place to part the car.

    Maybe make that extra room into a game room! Board games, video games, computer, pool table, maybe a reading area. You could knock the wall down so it’s extends to the balcony, or maybe just create an opening in it!

    Make the small room into a theater for the family

    What about making the smaller room into a walk in closet for you and your wife?

    Why don’t you swap the closets to the lower roof area? Or the bathroom? And bring the actual bedroom party closer to the mezzanine area? Would give the bedroom a higher ceiling?

    You are asking for ideas for the little room past the closets. I'd say that little room makes a lot of sense as a bathroom. Seems weird to have a big bathroom and a hallway when you first enter the master bedroom. Makes more sense to tuck the bathroom on the other side of the closets for privacy and to get rid of having a hallway in your bedroom.

      Thank you for the suggestions! We have decided to hire a designer to come in and create a layout for the whole space. We want to do it right and we may end up changing the layout quite a bit and we may end up using the little room as the bathroom.

    In regards to the room at 10:36, one suggestion I’d make if you were to go with the guest room route is to push the wall out so the balcony is absorbed into the room. Then, for the privacy of you and the mrs, I might block off the doorway off of y’all’s room. By doing this, the guest room is expanded comfortably and is no longer directly connected to your personal bedroom.

    To make the room seem even larger on the second floor leave the ceiling open and stain the rafters. It’ll fit well with the industrial look of the house overall and will make the ceiling feel taller

    • @ourcafehouse
      @ourcafehouse  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah that’s a good idea! We are considering that. Not sure what direction we will go at this point.

    I’m no building engineer or anything so I’m just going to give my aesthetic opinion. Since your trying to make this building a home, get rid of that entry hallway. Making that entry way more open and welcoming will make it more homer . And I would get rid of the flat roof to put in high roofing. At least that’s what I would do in the Sims. 😂. It is really a neat idea, and I’m totally here for it.

    • @ourcafehouse
      @ourcafehouse  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So the hallway entrance is actually the secondary entrance. The main entrance comes right into a larger more welcoming room :)
      We like the hallway area there because that whole section of the building can be entirely closed off from the rest. It has two large rooms and a bathroom. I do a lot of video production work, and so in the future it could serve as a great work/office area, being that we can totally close it off from the rest of the building. It will also be great in the future when we have people stay with us cause they will be able to have their own area that is more private. Those are some of the reasons we left that long hallway area as is.

    I love what you are doing with your building and new home! Personally, with how many guest rooms you already have projected, I would absorb the little room into your master suite and make a big master walk in closet. I mean, why not? You have 10,000 sq ft! Go big!

    • @ourcafehouse
      @ourcafehouse  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes, I've definitely considered that. The design is all still up in the air and we may end up doing something like you are suggesting. Thanks for watching!

    • @aiannetta89
      @aiannetta89 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would also do this. Make that whole area a big master area. To avoid having a hallway and open up the space when you walk in id put the closet, storage and bathroom all along that back wall.

  • @TheSeaphish
    @TheSeaphish 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Oh, I would make that room a small home gym. That would be perfect right off the master suite. You could have a treadmill in there where you walk ot jog and then you would be right by your master bath to shower and your big walk in closet!

    That room that is just off the master would only make sense as an office or living/entertainment room seeing it has 2 doors and would be odd being a bedroom that you'd walk through from the master to get to the stairs, if you understand what I'm trying to say here. I don't think anyone would want a bedroom that is also used as a passageway.

    • @ourcafehouse
      @ourcafehouse  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah definitely. If it doesn’t have its own access point then it won’t be a bedroom for sure.

  • @jenniferfaye529

    I would use that room as a nursery. And absorb the balcony into it to make it larger. When the kids get older, then turn it into an office or a gym or something.

    • @ourcafehouse
      @ourcafehouse  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a good idea! At this point I think we will remove the staircase leading up to that room and make it a part of the master suite. We will probably use it as a nursery and then in the future an office when the little ones are older.
