To the point where in the winter theyd just lay track across the short part of the lake to save time lol Those mills have been gone since the 60s though and same with the rail lines unfortunately
I want to call bull on the idea of the Russians laying an ice railway over Lake Baikal, which is the deepest lake in the world, but at the same time, it is the Russians we're talking about. Regardless of whether they have a Tsar, Premier, or Putin in charge, the Russians have proven to the world time and time again that there is nothing they can't build with a little bit of engineering smekalka, which normally involves duct tape, bubble gum, shoe polish, and a lot, and I mean A LOT of vodka.
