The All-Aluminum LS4 is all-day reliable, the car is a great driver, and for an all-around cruising V8, the Front wheel drive is not prohibited whatsoever with no notable torque-steering under acceleration. Treat your LS4 once and it will last as long as those Silverado V8’s with over 300k miles on them!
Great video and explained perfectly accept the Earnhardt Sr part. I have the 04 6cyl ss had a bad knocking noise was the flywheel hairline cracked. Pulled motor fixed it. Then the ignition did it's thing which my buddy fixed. But all and all it's a pretty nice car. It never drives in winter. Once the winter cancer strikes the cars not very appealing anymore so mine gets parked every year it's whole life never been in the winter.
The 3800 series 2 engines are good engines. The only major issues they have are intake manifold gasket and head gasket failures. The intake manifold gaskets and head gaskets are typical 3800 series 2 v6 problems though.
Had a 06 with the 3900 wasn't much slower than the LS4. Engine siezed on me in 2017 got rid of it since I had 2 coupes. Had the Monte since 06. I had three transmissions put in that car it was broken when the car was brand new right off the lot the second one died the third one was on its way out before the motor seized.
LS motors are awesome! Unless it's one of these AFM(aka displacement on demand) motors. Active Fuel Management is the system that physically collapses the valve lifters to disable cylinders to save fuel when cruising in a low load situation. I have replaced a LOT of these lifters and others parts on these motors. The lifters will stay collapsed when they are supposed to pop back out. It's a poor design, but I make good money working on LS's. You can buy kits to delete this system from these cars.
1:31 is a 2002 Dale Earnhardt Signature Edition with the N/A Series II, not the 2004 Intimidator. Some other things about these cars. The N/A 3800 cars have plastic intake manifolds that crack, and the stock trans isn't exactly durable. They're still great cars though. Regret selling mine.
I have a heavily modded 2003 Monte SS that's been sitting for a few years due to rust issues. I want to save it if I can, as it was my first car and a damn fun one too. I wouldn't trade it for anything (except maybe a Chevelle lol).
the great thing about these cars is they are capable of 900hp out of the v6 and over 1200 out of the v8 with awd capabilities. but it takes money of course.
👍 I’ve owned (5) Chevrolet Monte Carlos, (2) SuperCharged SS’s and (3) LS’s. Solid runners. My current ‘04 SuperCharged SS has never been driven in the rain. Only because my daily driver is a LeMans Blue 24 hour Commemorative Corvette 😬 6 speed manual. Way funner than the front wheel drive Monte.
HEY!!! I have a question....a little back story, 1st. I purchased an '07 Monte SS in 2018 noth8ng wrong with it and was in love with it. Then something happened and now it has been sitting for 4 years. It has a full tank of gas(full for the past 4 years) and hasn't been started up or anything. What are some problems/issues I can expect when I start it up and "get it going" on the road again? (if any of that is possible)
Let my Grandpa look at it, I bet he could fix the issue. Him and I love Monte Carlos. And he works on cars all the time especially Monte Carlos owning two of them, and mine being the third.
I bought my 01 SS in 01 I still love it. In 03 i had the 03 SLP factory upgrades done to it by GM (it put in larger cam Ect) with those it does 250+hp w/out a supercharger.
I had a 2002 monte carlo Dale Earnhardt edition. Unfortunately 02 didn't come with the super charger. Man I loved that car. I still wish GM would have made it rwd. All the "possible issues" you described I had the opportunity experience. 1st maybe after a month of owning the vehicle the bcm went out a few years later the catalytic converter got clogged. Then maybe a year or two later the head gaskets began leaking which caused air to get into the coolant line and blew a whole in the radiator. Then of course the dredged power steering and break line failure. Tbh I want another just a 06 ss.
4:30 Big Facts! Had a SS shitty whip ran hot & had 2 get a whole manifold as well. Probably had it 4 a year no burn outs, rough driving maybe raced a handful of time but I was younger & didn't have 2 many people 2 race knowing very few people with cars

@@lsdpepe3516 First off, they're not Tritons. Tritons are the truck engines. A stock 4.6 Police Interceptor puts out 308 HP and 318 ft-lbs of torque. If you have a Triton it was put in there. Second, the 5.4 was an optional package because my brother in law was looking at buying the Mercury Marauder which is the Mercury version of the Crown Vic. Third, I live in Dallas, Texas. Fourth, It doesn't matter if your 4.6 is stock or not, it is not worth it for me to drive to Denver because here in the Dallas area we have plenty of tracks.

Just bought me one last month. 05 SS. Not a bad car but I got the dreaded P0420 a few weeks ago so either replacing that or just deleting the cat altogether.
The "Last Hurrah" V8s were the best (since the early/mid 80s SSes), although I have heard now 15 to 16 years later, you're gonna be back and forth to the parts store or junkyard for a few things... Not worth the $$$... Better off with getting scrapyard replacements for the early/mid 80s ones... Plenty of those to be had...
I luv my ss supercharged monte but I dont claim it's by anyways a muscle car. Also its always been RWD they butchered this one.....but it looks cool. 🐴
The displacement on demand ruined those engines. Then had a bunch of ring problems on it because of that, cause it would just use four-cylinder until it gets past a certain RPM, and then it would kick in the eight cylinders.
I have an 04 3.6.. basic as all hell but quick and clean. Help me out guys. Do a resonator delete? I just want a little umph to it but idk how that’ll sound.
Just sold my 03 monte carlo ss 2 months ago. I miss her. One day oll buy another one but make sure it has the super charger or buy a 07 and put the front clip from the 2000-2006 on it

and WHO CARES about hp...if it goes 65 at more than 15mpg its good. i want a phone that makes phone calls and a car that does the speed limit
The 2006-2007 Monte Carlo SS was awesome only thing that wasn't was FWD.
DITTO my friend...... Chevy FUCK up on that platform seriously😠😠😠😠😠😠😠😠😠 FWD BULLSHIT!!!!!
Damn that slow-mo ending kinda made my heart sink a little.
That’s Earnhardt Sr.
the great thing about these cars is they are capable of 900hp out of the v6 and over 1200 out of the v8 with awd capabilities. but it takes money of course.
In Indiana, we pronounce it mon-tee carlo.
Intimidator car was themed after Earnhardt Sr. Not junior. 🤦
My roommate used to have a 2001 red Monte Carlo SS, that was a fun car to drive. I am thinking getting one.
I bought my 01 SS in 01 I still love it. In 03 i had the 03 SLP factory upgrades done to it by GM (it put in larger cam Ect) with those it does 250+hp w/out a supercharger.
Grand Nation! 3.8 love
I was gonna subscribe till u called it a sleeper...
I got a 2003 Monte Carlo ss limited edition
So do I. I’m trying to figure out why my transmission is acting up
Real monte carlo is front engine, rear drive (83-88). Anything breaks on those cars RIP it out and put real muscle in it
I like anything from '70-88. That said, I'm on my second 02 ss, lol
But I've owned six from the 80s era.
I have a LS4 Monte Carlo with 40k miles, consumed a lotta oil but just turned off the DoD and no more problem. Loud and fun
You need to get your facts straight, Skip.
I love my Monte!!!
Intimidator was Dale Sr. not Jr.
“Kunta Kinte type roots” 🤣
That shit ain't funny
😂
Lol 😂 I’m going down down baby shimmy shimmy coco puff comment got me over here rolling 😂
My 2004 Monte Carlo SS getting closer to 363,000 miles.
I owned an 07 SS NASCAR Pace Car edition. It'd haul ass in a straight line... But that was about it. 😂
If they would have made the V8 version RWD and gave it the 6 speed transmission or added a manual option these things would have sold much more.
Same w platform car lol same front end problems which is none
Bro you talking crazy on your channel… the reference about Nelly and kunta kinte is a bit much
Had a 03 super sport had a lot of fun this car. Thinking about buying another for old time sake and fixing it up as a show car.
Not first!...my coworker has a 2002 I believe Monte Carlo v6 auto. Poor thing has seen better days I’ll tell you that!
4:30 Big Facts! Had a SS shitty whip ran hot & had 2 get a whole manifold as well. Probably had it 4 a year no burn outs, rough driving maybe raced a handful of time but I was younger & didn't have 2 many people 2 race knowing very few people with cars
I could swear I can hear snickers coming from my Interceptor when one of these pull up next to me...
It's coming from the Monte Carlo driver laughing when they see a guy thinking his 4.6/5.4 spark plug spitter can take the Monte Carlo.
@@tskraj3190 If you have the balls we can meet up and I can embarrass you and your front wheel drive car. We film it for the world to see. Also Crown Vics come with 4.6s. Your move princess.
@@lsdpepe3516 4.6s or 5.4s depending on package most have a 4.6L. And I don't own a Monte Carlo SS, but I do remember the Camaros with the Supercharged 3800 V6 stomping the shit out of the 4.6L Mustang GTs.
@@tskraj3190 Im far from stock. You know Jack Shit about Crown Vics. They never came factory with those Triton 5.4s. I'll run whatever you have then. Come to Denver or I can come to you. I'll even do it for free so long as we film it.
4:02 that's a timeless 0-60 clip
Bro did you really just burp in your video.... Love it!!
I've got two 6th gen Monte Carlo SSs. An '02 SS with the limited edition High Sport appearance package and an '01 normal SS. I love them both!
Early Z34 Lumina with DOHC 3.4L and 5 speed manual was a better car even though it wasn't as fast in a straight line, had Corvette style monoleaf rear suspension and wasn't cheapened to death like this last W body 2 door.
I had 2... red auto and black 5 speed z34 miss them greatly
Still driving a 6cylinder 2800 with220000miles
Still driving ?
0:25 ...a damn good, under-rated, unappreciated, sleeper of the "LATE 2000's?"
Don't you mean the "EARLY 2000's" since the LATE 2000's are yet to be???
I got a 03 Monte Carlo SS Limited Edition Pace Car
Its nice
Nelly was from St. Louis. But, valid point.
I have an 04 3.6.. basic as all hell but quick and clean. Help me out guys. Do a resonator delete? I just want a little umph to it but idk how that’ll sound.
Just sold my 03 monte carlo ss 2 months ago. I miss her. One day oll buy another one but make sure it has the super charger or buy a 07 and put the front clip from the 2000-2006 on it
Also it was 250hp i havent been able to find any reports of 240. And 200 wasn't bad, it wasnt super fast but it wasnt a dog.
@Yankee Fan ya thats another thing i liked. I was lucky enough that mine still had the little cover for that indent. Apparently those covers are extremely rare to still have
These cars gave you hell but you I’ll be damned if you don’t miss them once they’re gone.
Do they make any after market parts to hop these things up???? to bad they are rear wheel drive bummer. my buddy had an 87 back in the day it was sweet.
“It was themed after nascar legend himself, Mr. Dale Earnhardt…Jr. *BRAAAAAAP* ugh“
I got a 01 ls and one thing people should know is security/ignition problems with a lot of computer problems... I haven't drove mines in a year because of this and still trying to find a way to by pass it
I started working for one of the biggest corvette dealers in the country in February 2005 I built ever custom c6 corvettes brand new with 0 miles from the factory I put together some super cool custom vetts Callaways with GS vett paint scem GTR wide body's. Zo6 converters be for they became available from factory they were 1of a kind still factory warranted brand new cars. But the one leftover2004 Earnhardt Edition SS they still had leftover when I started I though was way cooler then all the corvettes we put together ...I'm just the type of guy who likes to be different then everyone else and o always wish I would of bought that car it's a very nice automobile that I kick myself for not getting the last available one in the state of Colorado ...I bet some people know the chevy dealer dealership I'm talking about now that I said what state it's in I really enjoyed working there o did a lot of nice stuff but it was time to move on and start my own business.. Now I have fradom to do what ever I thinks cool 😎😎😎
My 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo ss has 268,000 miles plan on rebuilding the motor or replace it with the 5.3 LS4.
Hey guys. Im looking to buy this car. It has 240k clicks on it. Should it be running mint or will there be problems? Is it worth it? Honest response.
Are these cars worth buying even at 190000 miles?? I’ve wanted on of these for so long but the only one I found close by has that many miles. I’ve heard the transmission have issues
So 2000 to 2007 Chevy Monte Carlo are the same body styles?
I had an 06 SS and I had a major problem with the iintermediate steering shaft. I had it replaced so many times. Other than that, it was a beast.
