Hey Azeal, I know Imma sound like a scumbag and all when you're trying to spread positivity around, but at 13:00 when you started saying that this was purely a culture war thing, I kinda have to speak my mind on it. I cannot speak for any lawmakers nor the general public, but saying that it is purely "fighting for the sake of transphobia" is a little rash of you to say. Yes, I do believe that the laws system is currently an utter catastrophy, but saying that and generalizing the whole section as literal transphobes is dangerous on public appeal... Might wanna be careful in the future as not to turn down a whole section of an audience by making a personal political statement... It's mainly one of the reasons why I try to maintain some knowledge on matters of politics but to mainly stay out of the whole discussion when on some form of social media...

Anyways, I never came out and probably never will, because my family is not even remotely supportive, except for my sister probably, and they hate any minority they know. Not only did this guy had the balls (lol) to come out, but he also managed to get through something as crushingly tragic as _that_ period of depression; I mean, I went through depression too and already it's not fun. Then when I heard that his friend shot herself I was genuinely caughtoff guard and got sad. Then the transphobia, the bullying, people not taking him seriously, jesus christ. But then he somehow had the pure, raw determination and willpower to have the craziest glow-up, overcome his insecurities and get to the level he currently is at. I fuckin love people like this, if it was me, I would've never made it. Never. I mean, I got second-hand confidence from this

Hang in there, as cheesy and overused as it is, it really does get better. Eventually you’ll be old enough to make your own choices and find your own family.

I've made SO many friends just by being open minded and accepting of other peoples gender and preferences. No matter what, they are the gender they tell me they are. I once met someone who had a full beard and classically masculine features, but she introduced herself to me as female, so she is female until she directly tells me otherwise. Another great example is my old college roommate (now great friend) came to learn they are nonbionary, but when we first met they still identified as female. They had a lot of anxiety about it, but i could tell living with me was always comfortable for them. Partly I thinks its because the moment they came out to me as nonbionary thats exactly what they became to me. It took a week or so of consistent effort to completely change my habit of using their old pronouns, but I could tell it meant a lot to them. Something a simple as accepting people for people no matter what words are used to describe them is probably the easiest way to meet fantastic people, and forge lifelong friendships. I'm just sad my way of thinking is such a minority.

@@commandercorl1544 honestly the mentality is just how I was raised. It would be a lie to say I fully understand the various genders and preferences, but I do it least try my best. The area I grew up in didn't have anyone who was open about a gender other than male or female, so I've had to learn about it all while in college. The college I went to is huge within the lgbtq+ community, so I really wasn't exposed to those sorts of things until college. The lgbtq+ community where I grew up is practically non existent. So despite being pan I've had no one to ask about these things or to teach me them before I went off to college. Well regardless, i didn't want to be held back by my lack of knowledge on the community so I did put forth more effort into trying to understand.

@@kai_alex I've always been super interested in medical stuff and so hearing about all the changes my trans acquaintances go through medically is super interesting. I've talked to a few who were comfortable talking about what going through the process in order to finally get their gender was like. They were all really happy with their choices to pursue physically becoming their true gender, and hearing about the steps and procedures was really fascinating and enlightening. Btw sorry if my wording is a bit off, I'm not the best with words. All the trans people I've talked to have all described it as always being one gender internally, but another physically. And that going on hormones and getting gender reassignment surgery was just physically becoming the gender they always were. To be fair the ones I've talked to have all been on hormones and pursuing surgeries, so I haven't heard yet from the prospective of a trans person whose not as interested in undergoing such medical physical changes. I do know there are plenty who worry about hormone treatments and surgeries, and thats okay, they'll always be the gender they tell me they are regardless of physical features or where they are in their process. Sorry that was kinda long winded. Its just really important to me that people know there really are allies out there who'll put forth the effort to at least try to understand them better.

hi, ftm ex-athlete here. until covid hit, i did downhill skiing since i could walk. then i started to enter race teams and train along with other girls, no matter what team i entered i was always looked down upon and excluded just by existing. girls always laughed at me for always being around my dad (him being a coach on one of my teams) and the guys were most likely afraid of my dad, everyone was afraid to talk to me aside from the coaches, so i never really grew up with friends my age. never really was included into a friend group anywhere i went for that matter even if it was outside racing. not only did i recognize my masculine tendencies and behavior when i was 14, but i finally fit into a small friend group on this one team (which was the most popular one in the region); as for the other girls on the team they always bit my head off and made fun of everything i did over the years bc again, one of the reasons was that i was on several other teams before joining this one. luckily, they were queer/trans friendly, as only one was straight but allied. then covid hit which was really bad for my health overall. i was always snowed in and the rich kids were attending races across the US while rubbing it in the faces of everyone else on the team while the coaches did nothing. my parents knew that racing was a burning passion but finally decided to move out where there were healthier people which was unfortunately away from the mountains which is where i tried to transition but didnt go well due to a bunch of the kids my age that lived in the neighborhood happening to be extremely rubbish which was a huge halt to my transition. in the last year, ive moved again even further but im in an amazing relationship, haircut and am finally able to bind, probably getting top in college. also surrounded by helpful, lovely, inspiring online friends and looking for another sport which will most likely be skateboarding.

It's... really hard to deal with the body dysphoria that comes with it, as well as the backlash. Unlike the awesome guy in this video, I do vocals and singing. Every day I have to sing baritone (for you non music nerds that the second to lowest pitch) and it really triggers my dysphoria. I gained a hint of self confidence randomly in 8th grade and went to ask the principal would I be able to change and go to the restroom in the girls rooms. She just laughed at me and told me absolutely no, called me a creep and to get out of her office immediately. I have never asked about it again, I guess I just don't belong in the women's rooms. I studied sport and exercise science at University here in England, and I can honestly say that (except at the elite level) trans-genderism in sport is basically an unknown topic.
It's such a varied and multifaceted subject that, in my opinion, nobody truly knows whether or not there are distinct advantages inherent in trans-athletes or not.
At the international level, yeah there is a distinct gap, but at the college/district level, the numbers seem to completely corroborate what this athletes is saying.
I genuinely hope more research on the subject is conclusive enough to make judgements on who competes with who as soon as possible, however, its not looking good.
There are just too many variables with each individual trans-athlete for us to come to a universal consensus about how we approach trans-genderism in sport.

Literally runs counter to all sense, until the numbers are conclusive, which they aren't right now, it'd be intellectually dishonest to have a strong opinion either way at the district/college level.

I think there is no point regulating anything on sub-national levels, but national and especially international/olympic levels of competition? There may be a sizable disadvantage for FtM athletes and a sizable advantage for MtF athletes (which is the point most of us "normies" get stuck on), but of course there is still data missing on that. Probably the best way to solve this would be to put people in narrow brackets of just about similar performance, leaving gender at the wayside entirely.

But even then, you'd just get the exact same gender divide we are seeing now.
I suspect the outcome would be most males dominating most females in all physical sports with slight overlap in the middle, thereby necessitating the need for gender seperation in sport again.

Obviously there's the whole "college experience" and you probably want that to be good. But I dunno I went to college for 9 years I'm over it :p It was neat. But my fondest memories I have from sports ever are playing in leagues and competing after college. And pickup games and competitions with friends, for what it's worth. College isn't necessarily the end-all-be-all of life experiences. I swam so I know what you mean by the suffering part. Like it just hurts while youre doing it, and that's about it. I used to call people by the wrong gender all the time as a kid, trans or otherwise it didn't matter; got to a point where I had to take a class on being able to tell the difference as a kid. Anyways, calling people by the wrong pronoun doesn't automatically indicate that the person misgendering is transphobic or shit.
Another thing, isn't it possible that those children were just curious? As a toddler, anyone suddenly changing genders probably made them think of a mythical gender-swap potion you'd see in a fairy tale.

WARNING: Mentions possibly anxiety(not diagnosed so I can't just say I have anxiety or depression for certain) or just low self esteem in general. Also just really sad self loathing. If it's triggering pls don't read.
Man, the way he described his friend Blue... the way he seems to have taken the situation too, he took it fairly good, at least from what I heard, I don't want to sound too parasocial, of course.
I feel like if one of my best friends died by suicide, I would NEVER recover from it. It would absolutely fucking shatter me, specially if it was a situation like his, where it would make me feel guilty because "I didn't say, or do the right thing". I always feel like I need to treat those around me the way I want to be treated, and in theory that sounds like a very good rule to follow. And I do follow it, every single day, every single interaction, I always have it in mind. It allows you to stay humble and empathetic. But sometimes it backfires and makes you put yourself last, you end up not mattering as much as the people around you. You want them to be okay, you want them to feel good, and by extension you're supposedly helping yourself, right? What they never tell you about the golden rule is how important it is to balance it with self love. I never practiced self love, I somehow confused it with narcissism. I always thought it was complete selflessness and unconditional empathy towards everyone no matter what.
I have so much trouble accepting compliments or gifts, I feel like I don't deserve anything but the basic things I already have.
If a best friend went away in that way... I would instantly blame myself. I would never forgive myself. I know it may sound illogical to so many other people, and they simply respond with "it's objectively not your fault, you couldn't have done anything", but that doesn't change the fact that I still *feel* guilty. I know it's illogical, but that part of my brain screams so loudly, it won't shut up. I'm the most paranoid person I know, I'm supposed to be prepared for any situation ever, if I'm not prepared for that, if I can't do every single thing possible to help that person, than I've failed. My paranoia was worthless, I was useless, worthless. Someone died and I could have done something, I was close to them. Just a simple "I care about you", just keeping up with them, being more attentive. The excuses keep piling on and on, and they weigh you down so much, you feel crushed. I wish I could be more confident, I'm doing baby steps towards being better about my self esteem, but it's so hard. I just wanted to say that I'm really proud of him, he is so incredibly strong. I would completely break had that happened to me.

Testosterone is literally used as doping, so yes it'll improve your performance, however certain things don't change depending on what puberty you went through. Female bodies generally have smaller hearts and a different bone structure so unfortunately tans men will always have a disadvantage in certain sports.
Also on trans women not breaking records, they unfortunately are. That's because in general, the testosterone levels can be over 10x as high than most cis women to be allowed to compete. This also means that cis women that go over that threshold because of a condition aren't allowed to compete, and that many women are flirting with that threshold with hormones. None of this is fair, and it's because sports shouldn't be gendered but divided into classes, like you have in sumo wrestling kinda.

I live in a red state too, and I worry so much for my community today but especially trans youth. Ron DeSantis in 2021, on the first day of Pride Month, signed into law a bill that bans transgender girls and women from competing on female sports teams at the high school and college level. Also, trans Medicaid recipients here are having ALL of their transition-related healthcare (surgery and hormones) revoked. That includes hormones, puberty blockers AND surgeries! Because of him, my wife's insurance won't cover ANY of her breast augmentation procedure. Not only that, he's pushing for trans youth to not receive ANY gender-affirming care. I suggest everyone read the guidelines that were released in April, its just a page long, "Treatment of Gender Dysphoria for Children and Adolescents", contradicting leading federal medical advice, it states worst of all that "social gender transition - a nonmedical process in which a person uses a name, pronouns and/or clothing that matches their gender identity - should 'not be a treatment option for children or adolescents.'", they're trying to make it illegal to be trans. And the doctors that treat us will become scared of treating us for fear of prosecution. This man is running for president. He is using us for votes built on transphobia. We are the 'civil rights issue of our time'. And I suggest anyone reading this with hate in their heart realize that we're human just like you. We want to play sports like you. Have friends like you. Our rights are being taken from us. Trans rights are human rights, and if you believe in this land of freedom and liberty you'll understand how fucked up we are treated and how bad it is and could continue to worsen if a dingus like him becomes president. One last thing, just the last 2 years, at least 130 bills have been introduced in 33 states to restrict the rights of transgender people. In 2022, over 230 anti-transgender bills were introduced in state legislatures in a coordinated national campaign to target transgender rights. Many of these bills became law. The Equality Act must be passed for not only our protection but numerous others too. We are only protected in areas of employment but not in so many other aspects. Thanks for reading. You don't have to perpetuate hate.

and it makes me feel bad about my own life... because sure, i have some difficulties due to being queer and gender non-conforming, but not nearly as many as she had. and i'm still here, horribly unsatisfied, lonely, mentally unhealthy, and unproductive. i'm not the person i would like to be, even though i probably have a better opportunity to do it than she did. i'm not even sure about my gender identity; i might even identify fully as a trans girl, but i'm not sure. all i know is that i want to be a feminine person, and i wish i was one of the girls (even if i still identify as a boy). but i haven't transitioned as much as i would like to. i'm too stupid to even be able to shave my body successfully.

I can't think of anyway hormone treatment can be life saving when used for transitioning. It can give you a false sense of hope, but at the end of the day it more psychological than physiological. It SHOULD be considered a felony though cause as a child who doesn't fully understand life and what it means to transition won't just be able to turn off the effects of hormones. It will permanently alter the body it's not like taking a birth control pill and just choosing to stop one day and being fertilize the next day. You won't just get your voice back or your body back. That's why so many trans people end up suicidal, it's more complicated than just getting a prescription for hormones and it magically fixing everything. Dysphoria is a mental illness that stems from upbringing, social environment, preconceived gender stereotypes, etc. Treating Dysphoria with HRT is like treating cancer with an ice pack.

Nobody really knows what happened but I was still getting off the playground and what everyone believes is, that someone from the other class took my spot in line after their teacher counted them in their line. Like, they went in my line after the teacher counted them in theirs so the teacher thought that kid was in their line so they set off. Then my teacher counted and counted everyone but me because I was getting off the playground and they couldn't see me because it was dark and that other kid took my spot in the line. So my teacher thought everyone was there, so they left without me when I was on the playground. I think I was like climbing off the stairs saying "wait" but everyone else was talking so I guess she couldn't hear me or she thought I was talking to someone else. I was hiding in a tube with holes so I could see outside. I was outside for about 3 hours( that's what my parents said). Thank goodness I probably had a jacket because it was November and probably really cold. I was only scared because I thought I was gonna be eaten by a raccoon, but that's how dumb little 3 year old's work (lmao). Someone did come out on the playground to come and get me but they were searching inside first because they didn't think I was going to be outside.

I’m a Male to Female Transgender Sophmore in highschool and it is very annoying dealing with people staring at me when I wear bras and stuff. Also about the sports thing, I understand why because due to the fact biological males are stronger than biological females (in general) therefore it becomes shifted in their favor but eh

I am a little confused because as a gay asian in conservative asia, I am very scared of homophobic people because of the increasing oppression and they make me fear for my life sometimes. So I am curious if this perception is shared by others, or how does it differ, to learn about the significance of this label.

Unfortunately though, I can’t be on any teams and I don’t have testosterone and all that fancy stuff cause I live in Florida which is in some cases worse than Texas (for example if I were to receive therapy that involves discussion about gender then I could be taken away from my parents because I would be “at risk of abuse”, that “abuse” being hormones). I feel so bad for your experience and i hope things go better as you go on your journey of transition. My whole thing is i feel like there should be a way to make everyone at least a little happy in some way. If you’re FTM or MTF, the best thing for sports would be based on resemblance. If you physically show traits over clothes of being male, then you should be on the male sports teams until surgery takes place. If you look like a female over clothes, then you should be on the female sports teams until surgery takes place. Once that shift of “boobs or no boobs” happens, it’s gonna be a lot easier for people to swallow. It may not be exactly what you want, but at least the precedent is there. There also has to be a way of protecting trans students at school. Whether you’re not allowed to come out to anyone except the principal and your closest friends, then during the summer have your surgeries, get your hair cut, and have your name changed. I don’t know. There just has to be a way to protect you from all the heartache and save the trouble of other people from being offended. Like everyone is up in arms for some reason and I don’t understand it.

Men don't belong in women's sports I'm sorry but that's how things should be because that's reality. Male athletes are physically stronger and faster than female athletes. I live in Texas and I am a trans male swimmer, the Texas government doesn’t know about my transition so I’m still able to compete. Plus I am a trans kid making it harder to just live here. I hope one day people will change and just let humans have their freedom, that’s right I said humans. Everyone is a person it doesn’t matter if your cis trans or gay we’re all people and we should be treated like so, not like some sort of disease. It’s been so hard just having the Will to live here in these conditions, I’m trying so hard to not commit suicide. The only thing that’s keeping me alive is my friends and family, I have no other reason to live besides that. I’ve been bullied in school verbally and it’s tough. I had a dream recently of me being bullied by the same person that would bully me for being trans, she’s call me by my dead name and by my name over and over again. I’m lucky some of the people by her side changed for the better and used my pronouns and name. She however, didn’t change at all. She’s still a bitter, ugly person(not physically). Again, I hope some day people will change and give our human rights.
