Good video, the "Washer A and Washer B" or the Black "square packing" and the white "backup washer" are the primary sealing device. The external seal is basically a dirt seal. As you mentioned, anything that gets past washer a and washer b goes back to the transmission. If washer a and washer b get wore out they will leak and overcome the external dirt seal. The dirt seal is not made to hold the full pressure inside the pump. Something else to check is the drain line that goes back to the transmission sump can sometimes get plugged causing the dirt seal to fail as a small amount of leakage is expected past washer a and washer b. Also I noticed your dime valves showed quite a bit of wear, the ones sitting on the rear plate. Those are cheap and easy to replace. Like you said, many times the main bearings and races do not need to be replaced. Good work, keep it up. Also good english, easy to understand. God Bless

One of the best comments 👍 Thank you so much for your time, I am sure lots of people will appreciate it as much as I do. With the valves , I couldn't find the tool to get it all done. Any advice or video will be greatly appreciated. I am planning to restore this great backhoe.

I loved the video as I am about to tackle a leaky pump myself. I am curious how did you press off the bearings with that cam in the way?

I used a press and bearing puller set from Amazon, but I should have gotten bigger one from hurbor freight lol.

Thanks for the education. The flat race around those pin bearings is not the same on both ends. One end is beveled and the other side is flat with a groove around the inside perimeter. I did not notice this in disassembly. Do you know which side is which? Is the beveled side on the shims or is the beveled side against the bearing?

Bearings go one way only, and shims go on outer plate side .

Was wondering what model machine it came off of. I have a slightly different hose location set up and am trying to figure out a different problem. But will be doing going through it the same as you are. Did your noise go away or get better when you used a hydraulic function?

It's 310a and it was green color before =(farm) it's definitely more Quiet now and I am not as worried about it anymore. Just make sure it's all done by the book (end play and other things like that) once you will have it all on the table , the pump shaft will tell you what you need to get. You will see the difference. Good luck on your project.

Great vid! What tractor is this out of? I just bought a 300b and can hear a bad bearing sound (growl) from the pump area. What kind of noise was yours making?

    • @colossus5752
      @colossus5752  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Probably the same bearing noise. But it's a 310a john deere

@@colossus5752 where did you get your parts?

How does the pressure limiting system keep the pistons off the cam? Does the pressure compensating (relief) valve feed oil pressure to the pump case?

Interesting question, does it at all?

Great video. Did the new bearings fix the noise issue?

It's day and night. It sure sounds healthy now. I would say not as horrible noise. Its loud when it's brand new. I believe it's normal , but it doesn't punch you in the years anymore.

@@colossus5752 awesome. I’m rebuilding a pump from a 4020 right now. It has the same issue as yours with the pitting on the cam portion of the shaft. Waiting on a new shaft and bearings now. Thanks for the video.

@@MSCrappieSlayer I have a 4020 to rebuild myself. How difficult is removal? Any pointers? Where did you get the shaft and bearings? Can you list part numbers? Thanks, and hope it all worked out for you.

Do not spin a bearing like that
If you want to inspect the bearing thek the outer ring
If it have a dul and not shiny surface or is steaky replace it
