It would certainly be cheaper and easier for Lou Lamoriello to add some younger, faster, bottom-six forwards to the lineup than a sniper.

Good morning team. Gil, how are you doing this morning? The Islanders, and every other team for that matter, needs a certain degree of toughness in the lineup. That was the reason for Martin. Let's face it. Martin was on the roster to be an enforcer. The occasional goal here and there was just a bonus. I agree with you. Getting younger faster, bottom six forwards will be easier and cheaper to do at this present time. Yes, that would likely make the team a better one. However, I'm not sure that will be good enough to truly compete with the elite teams yet. Of course, this is just my opinion. Thanks again, Gil. Everyone have a great day! See you again next time. Love those 4th liners but their time has past! It is time to let them Go and it includes Casey! This team needs 6 new forwards at minimum! Size! Speed! Grit! Skill! You are spot on Gill! What experience or leadership do you need on a team of Grandpas
Casey is awesome,he’s willing to go into the dirty areas and dig that puck out…and he does everything.
Doubt they'll get 3 let alone 6 new forwards but they do have the need. I hope we see some changes, Otto, but with Lou, I'll believe it when I see it. Thanks for the comment.

@@LockedOnIslanders if the Islanders plan to go with the same players they will get close to the same results. Love Martin n Clutter but time to let go for younger bigger faster! Is Lee coming back? Islanders must get salary off the books to do anything! If those players are gone you need to add 3! No doubt everyone loves Casey and he will be 34 in February 25. I am sure Lou will hold him but I am ok if he is traded. JGP? Will he be dealt? Face it! To add anything new to the team Lou needs to dump 12 to 15 million. Otherwise you are looking at an old team that is exhausted if they make the playoffs.
Good 🌄, Gil, how are you? The Islanders not only need youth, but they need grit, too. Fighting has always been part of the game ever since I can remember. I know I always say The late Clark"Jethro" Gillies, Matt Martin, and Cal Clutterbuck are like Rip Wheeler, but Rip always fought when he had to protect the hands or everyone on the ranch. However, they need a Rip Wheeler that can also light up the lamp at tbe same time, too. Matt Martin 4 goals, 4 assists. +7. He wants to come back. Hogberg got a 2 year 1.5M deal. He can mentor the kids while he's in the AHL. HAPPY 🎂, STEVE TAMBELLINI. He obliterated all of Bryan Trottier's records while in Lethbridge. Yesterday, I only saw the ceremony when they retired Mike Bossy's #22, they didn't show the game. Hear from you tomorrow, Gil, and LET'S GO ISLANDERS.

While I agree with James they need to get gritty the islander still need a sniper. It’s a perfect mix of ingredients (players) to make a recipe a success.
The need for another goal scorer or two is undeniable. Grit is also needed. This team has many shortcomings right now that need to be upgraded. Will Lou do it? That's a different question. Thanks for the comment, putuhstsuj.
@@LockedOnIslanders honestly if Lou doesn’t fix this mess I can’t see ownership keeping him because I have a feeling they will be playing to a fairly new and now fairly empty arena. Fans have had enough of this mess. He painted himself into a corner just like Snow did and now he better think of something before losing the fanbase.
I have no love for the Canes social media people but man if the NYR blow a 3-0 lead it will make these playoffs worth it.

Gm. As the team moves towards younger/faster/skilled after Lou is gone, that will be the time to get tougher. Doing so now would be wasted money. that said, tougher doesn't typically mean expensive ... More fights would certainly be more entertaining than watching the Isles embarrassing themselves as they did on many occasions.
There were too many times we saw this season when the team didn't stick up for each other. They also weren't as tough to play against as they were a few years back under Trotz. Thanks for the comment, Eric.
It’s always great talking Islanders hockey with you game time, or anytime! It was very apparent Matty Martin was hurting this past season, and depending if he can recover a 100% from whatever injury he had? Would be the deciding factor whether bringing him back on a 1 year deal. I know I’m very much in minority here but if he’s 100% next season? I have no problems signing him and Cal for one more year. I’m more concerned on how to get rid of JG Pageau and his salary. (Along with other players) Obliviously if we do trade him? We’re going to have to retain 1/2 of his salary. I just don’t see us buying out Lee, not gonna happen, but the good news it’s only 2 more years. My gut tells me there’s going to be a major change with this Team this offseason. I don’t know what it is? But that’s my guts tells me. Thanks Gil
Ken, I hope you're right about the major change, but I'll believe it when I see it with Lou. Lee is unlikely to be bought out, but should he be? That's a different question. Retaining half of Pageau's salary would obviously limit the impact of trading him, but they should try to find a way to do it. Thanks for the comment. Always good to hear from you.
As much as I like Matt, he was hurt this year and would better serve the team as a coach in the Minors, he was really good playing the boards and getting position on the opponents body. I wouldn't mind Cal for one year only, he played all season and can be an anchor for the fourth line. We don't have much Cap room or a deep Farm System, time to play the younger guys already here and make an HONEST Evaluation of the organization. I'm tired of the Rangers Dominating the Media in NY!
Yep cal is definitely an anchor brought the penalty kill down all season. We don’t need him back nor do we need Martin. Next year’s fourth line is Maclean,gauthier, and fasching.
Clutterbuck is more likely to be back than Martin, I think. We'll see what Lou does. I hope we do see some younger players in the lineup, but I'll believe it when I see it. Thanks for the comment, mftoms59.
That would be a workable fourth line assuming no other players are added.
Bring in a younger checking forward and put the priority on a top 6 foward or puck moving defenseman. LGI

With Rangers bulking up , we don't need a goon like Rempe
But could use a Tkachuk type forward that makes other teams uncomfortable . Or a young Florida type forward to bust thru checks

Priority is youth and skill, you can pick up cheap "grit" players at the deadline.

Should’ve kept Johnston he could have stepped in this coming season in place of Martin. He played fine when he was in. I am just spit balling here. Maybe they can grab a guy like Olivier have a nice tough couple of wings for Maclean

With the id line all but done you can add grit to speed, skill, scoring need, pk expert, and youth to the louzer list of needed players. Unless louzer can blink twice and make all that happen it aint happening. Just get used to six more years of 18 not hitting anything.
You would think it would be inexpensive to add some grit, but with Lou, I believe it when I see it. He's more likely to re-sign Martin and Clutter than he is to bring in younger players. Thanks for the comment, Steven.
Islanders need to clean house and make cap space, shop free agency.
