Stage cautions suck. I'd rather watch a flag to flag blowout with zero cautions than have the manufactured excitement of stage cautions, on all tracks.
I've enjoyed the last two road courses. The reason being is less cautions means less commercials being shoved down my throat. I would much rather watch a caution free race as opposed to seeing the same commercials 10 times every hour. If you want better racing find a different tire supplier cause Goodyear isn't getting the job done.
Every time I start to give Hamlin the benefit of the doubt re: his personality and character he does something dumb. Now he's messed with my driver. Boo, Denny.
No stage cautions are great. The problem with the last race is there were no lead changes. All cautions would do is make pit stop times the only way to pass. Not to mention the bad wrecks following cautions. Dump the stage cautions and road courses and make the cars more competative.
Put blame on the car that has wide tire with less fall off, big brakes, too much downforce, and lack of horsepower. It's not because of no stage yellows. When stage cautions are removed, the race is on, you can't make mistakes like McDowell and Larson did. If those two didn't make mistakes, those we could've had closer finish. It's racing. This is not the end of the world after few lack luster races. It would be the same we had stage yellows. Just look at Road America last year. No natural cautions other than stages. The only cautions last year's Roval had was the debris yellow and stage yellows. It's says something about the car.
Couldn't have sumed it up any better. I would only add, what you said applies to every track. It's the car Nascar is so heavily invested in it, they refuse to change or fix the obvious problems.
Wait a sec….you want MORE cautions? Why? Just to have more restarts? That’s not racing. F1 hardly ever throws a full course caution and it’s the most popular motor sport in the world.
Nope xfinity car needs a next gen update! I know everyone won’t agree but a would love to see a mix between a trans am ta2 car and a modified to be the next gen xfinity car!
Never did like stage racing when someone comes from working hard on his car and someone else is out to lunch . Why should everyone else give them a break for not doing there job ? Fastest car and best team of the day should be able to collect their hard work!
Do away with the caution flags for stage finishes. Let the race run it's course, no need to manufacture finishes of any kind, let those who win by running the best strategy have at it, at least they will earn it, instead of having it fall in their lap because of a stupid caution.
Get rid of stage racing . I enjoyed both of those races because it was non stop racing just like when I started watching NasCar many moons ago . The best teams will come out front .
God I hate NASCAR fans. You have such short memories. Sonoma and COTA were amazing with no stage cautions. The strategy was amazing. Also I love how short the races are. The problem is not the stage cautions. It's the cars.
Oh give me a beak. The boring racing these past 2 years is a direct result of this crappy new car design. No passing, no more three-wide, etc etc. Throwing stage breaks at the road courses would not have changed the product at all.
I agree with the no stoppages on road courses, opens the door to strategy. I would say the Super speedways could lose the stoppages as well. For all the other styles they need to keep the stoppage at the end of the stage. Teams need to work on their cars and the drivers need that little bit of downtime to take a breath. Restarts are fun and creates lots of opportunities to gain or lose track position. They could throw in a caveat that you don’t have to stop at the stages to work on your car.
I don’t know about that. He’s got 50 wins. I did hear over the weekend one commentator say that race car drivers are some of the most insecure people in sports. So there’s that.
V8 supercar series tried this yeeeeears ago, it didn't work, and they got rid of stages and the cautions completely, here comes Nascar with the same exact idea lol and guess what, same results, stage racing and made up cautions don't work. Nascsr needs (they won't) to get rid of stages and stage cautions, and give the car back to the teams, like the playoffs it's not working, it hasn't improved anything, it's made it worse "but we got parity" I don't care about parity, I care about the best car on the track winning, and race cars racing. I pay attn to F1 just because it's thee best teams building the best car they can and putting it on track, "its so boring" they're racing, they're building their own cars, and the points system isn't confusing at all. It's 100% authentic racing, and Nascar has gotten away from that for gimmicks "we're gonna change 75yrs of culture and we're doing it" is there words...its not working and it's not gonna, cause Nascar executives are not race car drivers they have 0 clue as to what they're doing. Now it's suffering and has been a failure.
The ovals stages breaks make sense, since I’ve seen drivers struggling… boom stage caution and later they got it going on . But RC I’ve always enjoyed the strategy teams use to win and missed it when they took the breaks.
Remove the stage crap from all races, what are we kiddy car racing, they need a rest? Lack of action is because the cars are not stock cars, plain and simple. too easy to drive. If the competition was better you would have battles all around the track just like all other road course races that don't try to add wreck for entertainment.
Lost respect for Harvick when he shoved Me sells ski from behind after a race and started a fight between K and another driver. Never respected Hamlin or his constant whining and bullying. He got what he deserved for constantly hazing Logano.
Too damn many cautions.. why not just break it down to heat races and the top drivers do the main at the end. cautions breed cautions.. you see it every race.. no need for 7 restarts on the last 4 laps of every race.
I have been telling everyone that what Denny Hamlin, President of NASCAR wants he gets. Racing this year with all the road courses have sucked and are so boring. I do not foresee the play offs being any more exciting that the regular season. NASCAR already know who they want to win and will do everything possible to make sure that driver wins.
If NASCAR really wants to make it interesting, do away with stages and do what is done at countless local tracks every race, run heat races. That should light a fire under some of the drivers.
Tbh i don't think the lack of stage cautions was the issue, i think it was the race itself (plus not to mention indy last week). A race in general no matter where it is with only 1 or 2 cautions is almost impossible to come by today. With how aggressive drivers are now it's probably not gonna happen again the next time they go to the glen. If anything it's gonna ramp back up again once the playoffs begin anyway. Plus whose to say that even if they did put stage cautions back in, that fans wouldn't start complaining all over again? So i just stopped giving a shit long ago because of that
Harvick has a trophy Hamlin doesn t maybe Fedex&Gibbs want one and figure that they can get one cheaper than Hamlin and besides why would JGR want a driver who s focus is elsewhere.
If you need stage breaks to make the racing good or even better than your on track product sucks. Stage breaks aren't a solution they're a band aid. Harvick is right but they need to follow through with fixing the shitty car.
What is everyone whining about. Races are fine. Stage cautions suck and serve no purpose but to create false results. How about coming to the track with a good car. Probably same people that like having a dumb playoff system. Which by the way does not produce the real champion.
This is a snapshot of a bigger problem. It appears that NASCAR is turning into just another full body car going to more road courses. The leadership is taking the racing body in the wrong direction. When there were 2-3 road courses per year what was the problem with that? Why the push for going to more road course races? They’re definitely not fan friendly. How can they be when there are many parts of these tracks you can’t see the racing, and having these huge screens to let people see more, then why not just stay home and watch on tv? Just doesn’t make sense. I can’t remember the last race where the stands were full. And in regards to Denny/Harvick, what’s there to say. I lost a lot of respect for him. He will dump a guy and then when someone returns the favor, they are a hack that should be suspended.
Stage cautions suck. I'd rather watch a flag to flag blowout with zero cautions than have the manufactured excitement of stage cautions, on all tracks.
Stage cautions are nothing more than a gimmick.
I've enjoyed the last two road courses. The reason being is less cautions means less commercials being shoved down my throat. That glen was unacceptable
Stage Cautions should only be in play at superspeedways, having no Stade Cautions at super speedways would be dangerous
Id rather watch a race playout with no manufactured cautions . If your teams car sucks and gets lapped 20x then they need to go faster.
