What is Virtual Mass?
In physics, there's a concept called 虚擬質量 (virtual mass), where an object behaves as if it has one mass, but it actually has a different mass. That roughly mirrors the behavior of Yuki's technique; she and her shikigami interact with the world as if they have an effective mass different from their real mass.
This phenomenon is surprisingly common, given the right context. Computing motion in a vacuum is easy, but when an object moves through a fluid, or a charged particle moves through a metal, you have to consider the force exerted on it by what it displaces or by its interactions with the surrounding material. It turns out you can model this behavior accurately simply by assigning the object an appropriate 'virtual mass.'
What is Imaginary Mass?
The term 'imaginary mass' is misleading because it's also an established physics concept for a mass that becomes negative when squared. However, the established translation for that concept is 虚質量, so it seems unlikely that's what the 虚擬 in the raw text is referring to.
Perhaps Akutami-sensei wasn't thinking about physics at all, though. Given what we know, 'virtual' still seems a more accurate adjective. Something that is 'imaginary' does not exist at all; something that is 'virtual' is not truly real, but it behaves as if it exists. Both Yuki's technique and Gojo's Purple have a presence in the real world that makes them 'virtual' rather than 'imaginary.'

Sukuna used DA to tank Purple, and DA disables any CT it touches, and even with disabled effect of purple, Sukuna was in shambles.
So Purple isn't tankable by anyone who doesn't posses insane amounts of CE and DA on top of that

@@dangerouslydubiousdoubleda9821dividing by zero technically makes absolute nothing, absolute infinity and an impossible number all at the same time. 1/0 is infinity cuz 0 can fit into 1 an infinite number of times and it still won't get to 1. However, sharing something among 0 shares results in nothing at all. Then, there's the method of proving the division by multiplying the product by the denominator. 0 by 0 can't equal 1 (an impossible number) and ♾️/0 can't be 1 (an impossible number).
I think this is what the limitless techniques were based around, but I don't wanna yap for too much longer.

i feel like gojo’s domain is just basically forcing everyone to be gojo for a second because the six eyes over analyse every little detail happening around gojo even while blindfolded but since Gojo was borne with this burden he’s able to live with it where as others simply can’t because the information is unable to be processed by their brains and i love how it all comes full circle Gege is really smart
I can explain this to people very simply, but it’s also this ability that made my old physics teacher fascinated enough where he spent several of his lunches talking to me about all the math problems and paradoxes that needed to be solved to make it a reality.

Hollow Purple, in other words, is like the creation of "matter". Now you can't actually create matter. That's impossible. But since Gojo is already doing the impossible with Red and Blue (per your explanation) what results is the sum of 2 negatives (-1 apples, per Gojo) into a positive.
Where there is nothing, there is now "something" and that something *_still_* needs to be corrected by the universe, hence the deletion of space.
Honestly, that's a scary thought. It reinforces the notion that Gojo (as a different creator described) is a God amongst Sorcerers. As he is practically able to "create matter" where there already is matter using cursed energy.

Let's say Gojo has a Max Mana gauge of 100, Yuta has 150 and Sukuna has 300
If they use CE, they refill the gauge by 1 every second
A Domain Expansion would cost the user around 70 Mana per use no matter how refined or powerful it is
But due to the Six Eyes, the cost would get reduced to a meager 2, so it would only take Gojo 2 seconds to regain the CE he used for that DE

this is a transcript of the tcb translator clarifying the terminology used in jjk to describe hollow purple. its basically stating that no, purple doesnt erase matter, it simply just is an extremely powerful blast of energy. which is supported by *every instance purple was used* against hanami, it didnt even bother deleting her ribcage, that shit was still intact. against toji, the only reason it made those clean cuts is because the size of the purple used is only a finger flick. the 200% hollow purple used literally sent buildings flaking, which is *not something that erases matter should do* and more of an energy that simply crashes down on something with immense force. and finally, unlimited purple, which burns sukuna's arm off. and bonus anti-feats for purple: its tankable with ce, it had to erase several cubic meters of air in its travel, which is obviously undemonstrated since it doesnt even erase the matter which comprises of the fucking building sukuna was standing on but simply fragmenting it. and lastly, sukuna accounting purple's power to be relative to the distance gojo fires it from and amount of energy gojo uses for it, these are *not variables that should depend on a matter erasing ability*.

I think this is kinda how purple works and how the damage cause is affected by different variables. Im going to explain it with both math and physics as this is my main area of study. This explanation is long and detailed so please bear with me but it is interesting and i think it makes perfecf sense.
Since limitless is based off math and physics, this is the explanation of purple i came up with. Cursed energy inherently has a negative value so blue being the negative aspect of infinity or convergence can be given the value of - infinity or -1 to be more simple. Red is the divergence of infinity and uses rct which is positive in value as -ce×-ce = +ce or rct. So red can be given the value of 1 or infinity. Now purple is made by colliding both the negative and positive infinites together. Colliding is addition here so -1 +1 = 0 which is purple. Based on the explanation of the power system of jjk which is cursed energy and how the limitless technique blue red is used to create purple. This is basically a 'proof question' as you would call it in math to prove the value of a certain something.
Now as to the physics of purple and how it effected a few characters in the series who werent immediately erased. This is a pretty good explanation. If something has a value of 0 it doenst exist so therefore is imaginary. So theoretically imaginary mass should be impossible but the limitless technique is all about bringing impossibilites like the achilles and the tortoise paradoxes into reality in the case of infinity. Tachyons are theoretical particles that are said to have an imaginary mass. Now there are still studies going on as to whether these actually exist or not in the real world. There is an article called 'Do Tachyons exist? By John Baez' that talks more about this issue in real life. But in the case of jjk its a fair assumption to beleive they do exist as limitless is about bringing impossibilites to reality. With this in mind purple can be said to be made of tachyon fields constantly and simultaneosly attracting and repelling whatever is in its path and converting the mass of whatever it touches to 0. Hence erasing it. This does make sense as tachyons are also theorized to be particles that are in black holes or behave as black holes. This is consistent with the constant and simulatneous nature of attaction and replusion done by purple as it is a combination done by both infinities as black holes have a similar nature as whatver enters them or goes too near them go through a process called spagettification which is where matter expreiences immense attaction and repulsion to the point where its spaghettified and eventully erased. This is consistent with the nature of purple with ots value proven by math and real life physics phenomena this is based on.
Now how come hanami or sukuna didnt get erased when hit by purple?
Purple no matter its nature is still made from ce or its property is still cursed energy which can be tanked by domain amplification based on a set of variabkes such as skill refinement and strength. Which is why we say a difference in damage between hanami and sukuna. Also it is consistent with the tachyon theroy is well as like black holes tachyons are extreamely unstable and evaporate over time. Gojo when firing purple in the 4 instances fired from a distance away so damage will equal the amount of tachyons that are left aince the release of the technique to when the technique hits its target and whether it hit anything in between its release and its target. Also its important to distinguish the nature of the technique as we see it when used against toji. Purple only erases what it hits. For example if purple was fired at a rock but the users aim was off and it hit the top right hand corner of the rock it will erase only the top right hand corner rather than the whole thing which is why we see only a big chunk of toji gone rather than toji entirely. With hanami and sukuna purple was fired from quite and distance away and with many things in between point a and point b such as tress, buildings etc. So a lot of tachyons in purple would be used up then. Also since it was fired from a long distacnce in the case of sukuna more than 4km away a lot of its particles which didnt hit the objects in between will have evaporated. Leaving far less tachyons left to affect the intended target at point b. But even if some tachons are left shoudny it still erase what it touched? Yes but the tachyons are made possible by ce which can be tanked by domain amplification so a lot of them would be used up in in that calsh leaving even fewer to affect the target as we see with both sukuna and hanami after being hit by purple. And in those conditions factors such as distance and objects in between as well as domain amplifiction apply to the result of the damage caused. So in conclusion while purple does erase it is still composed of ce being its main property which can be countered based on skill stregnth and refinement.
This is the most logical explanation i could come up with as a student of math and physics.

So when gojo uses red or blue, is it technically a form of durability negation? Since both techniques create impossibilities and create empty space and manipulate thus space, wouldnt that mean no matter how strong you are you're still gonna be pushed or pulled by the effects since you reside in thus space if that makes sense?

gojo needs to add certain degrees of power to his blue and red, like when he chanted for blue to attract the water beam sukuna fired. this basically means that characters with enough strength just can ignore blue and red's effects.
Gojo can see through cursed techniques, though. The Paperbag Man scene was already pretty clear with that, but we got even further confirmation with Gojo seeing through Miguel's cursed technique to the point where he was even able to detect that Miguel doesn't have Domain Expansion. That may also be why Gojo knew Sukuna didn't go all out by using the full extent of his Shrine CT against him - although it seems there are weird body and soul shenanigans when it comes to vessels and possession of someone's body since he only could see Geto and not Kenjaku (or maybe it was just Prison Realm suppressing Gojo's abilities)

Something I noticed when I was analyzing what Gojo did after his awakening with Toji.
There is a very simple way to bypass Gojo's infinity, as he said, he no longer activates or maintains his infinity manually, but rather his six eyes independently analyze everything and protect it.They protect him by creating a 24/7 perimeter on Gojo and if something dangerous approaches they will instantly activate infinity to protect him.
That means that infinity was not there before, so anything that surpasses the analysis and vision of the six eyes would surpass Gojo's infinity. Of course it is clearly implied that nothing within JJK's world is fast enough to surpass the reaction of his six eyes, but outside of JJK there are characters with much faster speeds.
Characters like the strongest from One Piece Naruto, Dragon Ball, and more. That a long long time ago they exceeded the speed of light which is much more than any JJK character never done. So characters like Luffy and Goku can beat Gojo as soon as the fight begins with just one punch at FTL speed.
Infinity has nothing to do with speed tho. Gojo’s limitless is basically space manipulation. Infinity is just gojo choosing to manipulate the space around him where people, things, poison, techniques, etc can never touch him. He can even extend the range of infinity like what he did to hanami. So essentially unless you have a technique that bypasses the world and space itself, then you can’t get through it

This wasn't explained properly, so say you're at distance 1 (trying to punch him), and Gojo is at 2 (a few inches from your fist). The reason you can't touch him is because theoretically there is an infinite number (representing the space here) between you and him. Logically, we know that before you can get to 2, you have to get past 1.5 (which is halfway), right? Great, Gojo mixes that up to make you stumble around what the math people call an infinite series between 1 and 2, so you've got: 1, 1.2, 1.21, 1.23, 1.24, 1.25, 1.26, ...., 1.29, 1.30, 1.302...., 1.310, ...., 1.3220, ...1.3545, ...., 1.423594, .... Notice we haven't even gotten to 1.5 (actually, 1.5 is the same as 1.500000........♾️, but we don't add the 0s, because that would be madness) yet. Exactly, this could go on forever (hence the word infinite), and so is the time it takes for you to get to Gojo.
