The principle of woman’s submission to her husband/father is the ongoing command. Not a cultural symbol.

Hello I’m going to began covering my head at church this Sunday. I just wanted to say that at my church we kiss each other on the cheeks. So I that argument is extremely weak. I’m convicted to cover my head because of scripture thank you!

Raquel R Serrano I’m not sure as Christians we should be diverting each other about small situations that due nothing with a Salvation .. as Paul speaks in Romans 14 when people argued about Meat, Sabbath ... let everyone be convicted in their own conscious . If you believe that’s what you should do, Gladly do so. But I’m not sure why he feels the need to respond defending Head coverings when it’s clearly not a normative when read in context in 1 Corinthians.

Hello. I think there is much more to headcoverings. As a woman, the whole idea of dressing modesty has shaped my character and Christian walk more than anything else. I came across the Corinthian passage in searching bible scripture than specifically pertains to woman and after studying I was convicted that it is essential character building practice of modesty for my Christian walk. Coming from a feminist background and a family of women who didn’t believe in modesty, for me ( like meat to some Corinthians) clothing can be a stumbling block. My husband supports me because he knows my past. For me it directly related to modesty, prudent, and like the Bible says, the symbol of authority. It’s a Christian practice that I believe once a women is convicted to do it, does it joyfully.

Hi Joshua, here's how we'd respond to your concern about worrying about small situations: www.headcoveringmovement.com/articles/is-head-covering-majoring-in-the-minors-is-it-a-distraction
Also, we see head covering being normative in 1 Corinthians 11. If you're interested in learning why we see that exegetically you can go through our guided study here: headcoveringmovement.com/study

Thanks for the video. It's been over a year and God keeps bringing this issue back to my attention. Before i just figured it was a matter of personal choice and conviction. Now it seems to me that it has more of a spiritual meaning. Can someone please explain the relationship with angels and women and man and authority and God. It seems covering your head as a female is more about protecting yourself from fallen angels.... Or am i reading it wrong.
The cultural debate for me personally isnt so strong because some cultural practices can be good and others bad. If it's a good practice that helps your relationship with God, why not do it. I feel we have so many freedoms as christians and that is what real love is all about but just because i have the freedom to do or not to do something doesnt mean i should. I really dont get it yet but i'm starting to believe that head covering is about what we cannot see with the naked eye. Is it because of what had happened in the garden with Eve... There is more to it than just covering your head because it's a shame if you don't. It's must be about protecting yourself... I dont know yet.
Let me check out your website and see if you mention that.
    Thanks and be blessed :)

I'm not sure why he calls it an "adornment", looking up the word it is "something that adds attractiveness; ornament; accessory:", if the point is covering glory, it is _the opposite_ of adding attractiveness. Sometimes subtle reframing like that can really affect our thinking without our realizing it.

1 Cor. 11 is not a "difficult text" unless you are determined to not follow it but instead you want to explain it away and to find a way to get around it. Being willing to follow it causes the confusion to go away. A big problem with believers is that instead of taking their practices from the Bible, they tend to take it from what they see people around them doing.

Well Dr. Schreiner, that did not answer the question. How can a women read and yet chapter 14 says she shout be quiet? Or if chapter 11 says she can read or prophesy, then she should cover. I mean it's pretty straight forward. It's right there. A few different ways and a few different arguments.

We don't have an official position on it. We are a diverse group of evangelicals who have many different beliefs on secondary issues.
However, Jeremy (the one who made this video) gave his take here: www.headcoveringmovement.com/articles/head-covering-and-the-holy-kiss

The passage requires a covered head when a woman prays or prophesies. I do not pray or prophesy in public worship being a woman so this does not apply.

I wear a hair system for male pattern baldness. Am I violating 1 Corinthians 11?

Hi friend, wigs (or something similar) would be considered hair. The covering that is forbidden is an artificial covering (like a hat) during corporate worship.

The holy kiss is me to men.and women to women. It is on the check and not on the mouth, and not men to women or women to men. It's not used because people
    See it as gay.

Why not obey the exhortation to greet one another with a holy kiss?
