I really like how Guile came in and basically "passed the torch" to Luke.
Seeing as Guile has ALWAYS been my favorite character in the SF universe, I am happy with the passing of the torch to Luke. Ryu passed it to Sakura, Bison to Ed and now Guile to Luke. SF lore is the main reason why I continue to invest in this series.

More like Boxer's torch (or Mike bison/Balrog/whatever) since he practically raised him to be a boxer and maybe serve as a replacement character
Ryu hardly passed anything to Sakura except telling her to follow her own path and that he can't help her yet with that (not understanding that she actually wanted him to put his seeds in her)
Luke's story maybe short (then again everyone else is) but like Rose's I'm intrigue to find out where does it leads. Like who's Luke,Why was there a bomb at the mall,Why did he join the military and what is his purpose leading up to SF6!? He's not my favorite character at the moment but he's someone to keep an out, that's for sure.
Maybe Gill or urien is behind the bombing that killed Luke's father and Street Fighter 6 May take place after Street Fighter 3
@@johnpaulgontor2362 I've read an article in which the current executive producers of Street Fighter all but confirmed that SF6 is gonna go beyond SFIII (and also 3rd Strike, I guess) in the timeline, so there's stuff to be hopeful for.

Not terrible for an opening to Street Fighter VI. Not the most interesting plotline in the world sure, but in my eyes it's not the worst thing either, I'm pretty intrigued so far. Though still, I'd rather keep my expectations on the low end for the story mode of SFVI.

I feel like, as a whole, Capcom should've shown more MMA like movements, not just some exaggerated punches. Besides that, he's a cool character.
I get they don't want to give TOO much away. Since he supposedly the big character for the entry. Still they could have added a couple more story fights to flesh him out more.
Honestly they should have waited to the big cutscenes heavy story til after all of the roster was released. Maybe even a part two that more properly covered the lingering plot points and character resolutions.
I get it's a fighting game and people are rarely ever going to do play the modes over just the multiplayer, but sometimes the how they interact and build on existing lore is just as interesting. Not for everyone yet it still brings attention.
I assume that he is slated to become the new protagonist beginning with the next installment since he was created to be a vision for the future of Street Fighter.

I have to admit, I like the way he's being characterized as a guy who joined the military out of genuine hate for terrorists. His reveal trailer certainly didn't do him any favors, but listening to his dialogue in English, I can say he doesn't come off like the obnoxious KOF reject I thought he would be.
I still have no interest in playing him in this game or SFVI, but as a new main character, I can see him resonating with people. Now I just want to know who the next lead female is that everyone's gonna start shipping him with........

kind of a let down, but most of the story mode in SFV was too. On a side note, it would add an intensely personal element if it were revealed that either Bison or Gill's forces were the ones responsible for the terrorist attack that killed his dad; something to direct his fury towards, even if is just a rework of Guile's original story line from SF2.
I am always underwhelmed by the stories in SF games.
Backstories are always like “Chun Li’s father was a Hong Kong police officer pushed down an elevator shaft by an assassin from a mysterious crime syndicate” and endings are always like “Then Chun Li had some ice cream! With sprinkles!”
For current fighting game standards where most of the time story is absolute garbage or doesn't exists, is good

Rumors? No, they're more like dumb speculation on the part of Eventhubs being passed around as fact. Every time they have a podcast on the subject, they keep talking about Rose traveling back in time and resetting events from Alpha, making SFVI a soft reboot like MK9 was. Which is fucking stupid because it was never hinted at in her character story. There's a huge difference between doing that, and Rose sending a message to her past self hoping for a different outcome with G. You can play with that element and still move forward in the timeline. And I've heard that Takayama himself alluded to the latter being true.

I don't like the idea of Street Fighter introducing anything involving time travel either but it's coming so hopefully the execution is decent.
Rather than reboot, most likely they planning on new tech for next title, and like KOF series, Luke is the new protagonist in the next arc.
Alex, Abel (remember him?) and Ed was suposed to be like that for previous titles. Kinda neglected though

It would have been cool to see a main character who is a little rough around the edges, maybe even with a bit of ill intent. Or maybe his fighting is kinda sloppy and everyone thinks he's just a brawler and then one fighter like Ryu or Ken notices that he's different or special and becomes involved. I mean, even was the last time Ryu or Ken did anything relevant? There's so many places this could have gone!
I think Luke fits what you want: a clearly new fighter with a chip on his shoulder and a genuine set of demons. His moves, while powerful, are clearly sloppy, and that brings a charm to it

I just hope when the next SF game comes out they do a better job in the story mode and not almost botch it like they did with this one(SFV). And as for his gameplay not gonna lie but looks sick, Hell Diago seems to be interested into playing him so I'll go try him out myself!
They did a good job on Tekken's story mode and The King Of Fighters.

While I don’t dislike Luke, I’m still very salty that he is replacing Alex as the new main character.

I was expecting something else after all the drama and suspense about this character.
OK then. Now to think about the launch roster for Street Fighter VI. Ryu and Chun-Li are pretty much shoe-ins, Capcom themselves have pretty much stated this. And it seems Luke will have a major role, so he's in. I think Ken is guaranteed too, since he and Ryu have appeared in every SF game since the original. And I'm gonna guess that Sean and Necro from the SFIII series will be present, because they are the only fighters introduced in New Generation that still have yet to make the transition from 2D sprites to 3D models. I also think it's high time that Sodom makes his comeback, along with Eagle, Maki and Ingrid. And I believe there will be at least four newcomers in the launch roster, as was the case with SFIV (Abel, C. Viper, Rufus and El Fuerte) and SFV (Necalli, Rashid, Laura and F.A.N.G.).
Add:
1. Alex (since he is the main protagonist of the Illuminatti Saga)
2. Guile (since he serves as Luke's mentor)

So the Arcade Ending was like: Luke was beating up Dan, then Guile showed up and made him write a formal apology?
Apparently he was left before his official discharge date that allowed him leave from the military. So before got into legal issues Guile made him sign the proper papers and apology to avoid further issues. I guess its suppose to humorous.

I'm kinda disappointed that Luke's story is short and you only fight Guile, like, this is how you end SFV? It would have been interesting if the terrorist attack was connected to Q story in SFIII, giving more hints that G is the main antagonist of SFVI. They could have also added Rashid and Ryu since Rashid is the main character and one of the first of the original roster, so it would have come full circle, and Ryu because like Luke, he wants to become strong as well.

Certain special forces groups like delta force takes recruits from different branches of the military if they pass the training. Unlike navy seals who just train those from the marine branches.
So him being in the air force he can still become part of the army's delta force I believe.

Correct this is just the build up which sucks. SF6 will dive into the lore a whole lot more.
Give characters two + supers. Why no Q? Why no Sean? Change the art style please. The ending of how Luke is drawn looks better than the actual in game model but just feels like a Ken, guile, Charlie and Cody rehash. A guilty gear/dragonball fighterZ style would be good. Load it with sf3 characters n forget adding characters to just stage designs.

Hands down the most terrible Capcom has done on introducing a new character. If we were going the whole "I wanna become a man like my father" route, this character should've been in since season 1 or 2. This was definitely rushed. Very disappointed.
