    • @mazdakmina9493

And we now know that the team that handed them their only loss that season, took 5 total points off of them that season, and won the title over them that season (and were the only centurions in league history the year prior) were rampantly cheating the entire time!
This isn't just a "What If." As far as I'm concerned, this team *is* all of those things and this is the greatest season ever put together by a (non-cheating) team!
The question now is, will the league agree once the investigation and trial against Man City is over? Will Man City be found guilty (let's be clear, we *all* know they *are* guilty - even crybaby fans of the team pretending they don't know that - the question is whether the league will *officially* rubber stamp that fact!)?! If found guilty, what happens? Do they only get punishments that affect their future, or do any of their illegally won past accolades get retroactively removed? If their past accolades get retroactively removed, then what happens? Do *any* of those get re-awarded?
To be clear, Cup competitions likely can't be re-awarded, because there's no good way to know, for example, if the cheating team's semifinal or finals opponent (both of which were eliminated by the cheating team) would've won on that particular day in a hypothetical finals matchup. But *league* competitions - it's tough in some cases, but in *multiple* cases, a clear winner *can* be awarded. Liverpool that season were *25 points ahead* of the next closest team (3rd-placed Chelsea with 72 points), and they *very obviously* win that season if the cheating team doesn't exist. Seasons like that and the 2011-2012 season (where Man City and Man United tied for 89 points, with 3rd placed Arsenal a full *19 points* behind them) should almost certainly go to the team that *clearly* would've won if the cheating team had not participated.
But then, another question should be asked. What about individual matches? Liverpool played Man City *twice* that season, drawing at home, and losing away (a total of 1 point out of a possible 6). That loss was their *only* loss of the season. And that draw was one of only *two* draws at home (the other was a 1-1 draw with Leicester City, a team they defeated in the away fixture. To put it simply, Liverpool got a *minimum* of 4 points off of *every* team that season *except* Man City)! If you replace Man City with any hypothetical non-cheating team, Liverpool gets a *minimum* of 4 points off of them and reaches that centurion mark!
So, in other words, it took *literal cheating* to prevent this Liverpool team from *not only* winning a PL title, but going *undefeated* and reaching the *centurion* mark as well, all in a season where the team *won* the Champion's League! To me, there's no debate by anyone being truly objective! *That* 18/19 Jurgen Klopp Liverpool squad is the greatest single-season squad of all-time! And I doubt that they will ever officially get recognized as such on the official record, but if the record were ever corrected to account for Man City's cheating, it would show that!

Theres a what if inside of this what if. Basically in the 2019/2020 season Aston villa was playing a game against Sheffield United. Sheffield United sent in a free kick and the goalkeeper catches it but then fell back into his net but no goal was given even though it clearly crossed the line. That game ended 0-0 and without that point Aston villa would’ve been relegated and Bournemouth would’ve stayed up. Because of the relegation, Nathan ake left and went to man city. During the 2021/2022 season during a game vs Arsenal he made a goal line clearance and that game would’ve ended 2-2 if arsenal scored there and Liverpool would’ve won the league

Especially given that the team that denied those historic titles was cheating the entire time!
I hope that one day the *official* record will be corrected - especially for this 18/19 season!
A quick summary: against the other 18 *non-cheating* teams, Liverpool got 96 points across 36 matches, and got a *minimum* of 4 points (out of 6 possible) against *every* team across both fixtures with that team during the season. And if you don't believe that, there's a quick way to know it's true. Again, against the other 18 teams, the *only* team to prevent Liverpool from winning at home was Leicester City (a 1-1 draw), whom Liverpool *won* the away fixture against. Against the other 18 teams, Liverpool lost *zero* games out of 36 total games, and there was *no* team that achieved a draw at Anfield who also achieved a draw at home - therefore, Liverpool got *at least* 4 points (a win and a draw, and/or two wins) against *every* other team that season!
That brings us to the Man City matchups. Liverpool drew at home and lost away (a total of 1 point out of 6 possible across both fixtures) to the team we now know was rampantly cheating! Replace that team with *any* random hypothetical non-cheating team, and Liverpool gets a *minimum* of 4 points (remember, 4 points was the *bare minimum* they achieved against *every* other non-cheating team that season)! Do the math, add those 4 points in those two fixtures to the 96 they achieved in all the other fixtures, and they achieve 100 points and go undefeated, and win the PL title, all in the same season they won the Champions League!
Oh, and as an added bonus, the only other team to reach the centurion was those same Man City cheaters the year prior!
If the *official* record is ever rightfully correct, *that* is what it will (or at least *should)* show! Yes, there are other aspects of correcting the record that I won't know how to properly correct, but *this* is one where it's *beyond patently obvious* what happens if the cheaters don't cheat!
But yes, even if the *official* record fails to note that, hopefully everyone can see now that that official record is wrong, and can now see the *actual* historical significance of that 18/19 season! By far the greatest season ever put together by an English team in history! It took *literal cheating* to prevent this 18/19 Liverpool team from going undefeated and reaching a centurion to win the title, all in a season the team *won* the Champions League!

Sticking with the Liverpool and what if themes, I feel like the Rodri handball in 2022 is worthy of a mention. If that’s given and Everton score the pen and all other results stay the same as they were, we win the league. Similarly, the Sterling offside goal for Liverpool against city in the 13/14 season, clearly onside and if he scores and the game ended 2-2 instead and all other results stayed the same, then we won the league that season too.

The biggest 'what if' I've ever witnessed is from the 18-19 season as well. Newly relegated Deportivo La Coruña (my beloved team, LaLiga winner and UCL semifinalist not so long ago) had the chance to be promoted a year after, playing the playoff final against Mallorca. In Spain, promotion playoffs are two-legged. On the first leg, in our delightful Riazor Stadium, we won 2-0, playing a brilliant football and being very close to returning to the first division. Unfortunately, the second leg was a dissaster. Our manager planned a ultra defensive style that was not effective. We lost the match and the whole promotion run, we lost 3-0.
However, in the last minute, our defender Pablo Marí (later a Flamengo and Arsenal player) had the perfect chance to score the 3-1 and win the promotion due to the double values of away goals. Well, he missed the perfect header with the whole goal empty. The match ended then and we lost that opportunity.
The following year, we got relegated to the third tier, where we are set to start our fourth season in a row. Many disgraces have happened since; maybe scoring that missed goal could have changed it all. Since then, Mallorca has been brilliant in the first division, has sold players to PSG and this season looks like it's going to compite for entering in Europe.
I encourage you to look at Deportivo's situation, it could be a massive video. Greetings from Spain!

What if Nathan Dyer hadn't put his body on the line to score that winner for Leicester against Aston Villa in the 2015/16 season?
Looking back, that was such a big goal. It was still only September, there was no talk of a title challenge yet. The objective for the Foxes was still avoiding relegation at that stage.
Leicester had been 2-0 down to a Villa side that were, by a distance, the worst team in the league that year. But they completed a great comeback, rounded off by Nathan Dyer throwing himself to get his head to the ball to score an 89th minute winner.
Without that, Leicester would have dropped points in 4 of their first 7 games, and the mentality and expectations for the season would have undoubtedly been different.
Dyer got absolutely clattered by Brad Guzan, and needed treatment for the hit he took to the head. But he put the ball in the net, and the rest is history.
Whilst Leicester won the league by some distance in the end that year, I believe that comeback against Aston Villa was when it first started to feel like there was something special happening with that team.

My only issue with the assessment of that Liverpool squad was the dismissal of Gini Wijnauldum as a role player that was rotated constantly. He was the V12 engine of their midfield, a true box 2 box CM that was crucial to how Klopp wanted to play. They thought players like Naby/Thiago/Arthur could fill the void after he left, but his level of play for the entirety of his time at Liverpool was simply world class and not easily replicated. I’m an Arsenal supporter so this is only from my neutral vantage point and the amount I respected him while on Merseyside.

One of The biggest “What If” , is from Brazilian Football
    In Brasileirão 2014, Last round
    The table was like this:
Criciuma and Botafogo were already going Down
Bahia was fightingto get out of the zone, by winning their last match against Coritiba (and the other teams losing or drawing)
and Palmeiras and Vitoria were fighting too
    the Table was like this:
    Palmeiras had 39 Points
    Vitoria 38
    Bahia had 37
    Last match would be
    Vitoria X Santos
    Palmeiras X Athletico Paranaense
    Bahia X Coritiba
All the games were very difficult, but Bahia lost 3-2 to Coritiba
So It only had Palmeiras and Vitoria, one of them would survive
    Palmeiras were tied 1-1
And in the last minute of the game Thiago Ribeiro, Player from Santos scored, relegating Vitoria and saving Palmeiras (Santos Rivals)
After surviving relegation, Palmeiras got a new sponsorship with Crefisa, and started investing heavily in the team.
In 2015 They won the Copa do Brasil against Santos in the final
In the next year (2016) they were champions of the Brasileirão, with Santos in 2nd.
Palmeiras started getting stronger and stronger with every season.
And managed to Win the Libertadores Final, against Santos AGAIN in 2020
If Santos lost the game to Vitoria, maybe Palmeiras wouldn’t be what they’re today.
And in this years Brasileirão, Santos in fighting against relegation, while Palmeiras is getting to Libertadores again…
(I’m a Santos fan and this really makes me think sometimes)

I have two greatest what if, two are about Romanian football, first is Romania back in the 1994 World Cup and how they were one penalty away from the semi-final with Brazil. If Dan Petrescu scored Romania could have beaten Sweden and played a semi-final with Brazil, then there's a more recent one in 2003, Romania under Mutu's new generation had to win against Denmark to qualify for Euro 2004, but that was not the case as famous Swiss official Urs Meier refused to end the game and Denmark equalised. As a liverpool fan, those 11 milimetres haunt me to this day. Every time i watch football, without a doubt I will think about that clearance and what it did.
but I want to add something.
earlier on that season, liverpool faced arsenal at the emirates and drew 1-1. however, sadio mane had a goal ruled as offside near the beginning of the match, and it was CLEARLY onside.
here are the highlights: th-cam.com/video/NaKAIR3RZuE/w-d-xo.html the goal is at 0:10
if that had been correctly given as offside, we wouldnt have been centurions or invincibles no, but anfield would've been able to celebrate the premier league title. something that even when we did win the premier league the next season, didn't happen.
so when the club is in trouble, a 5th place finish and questionable transfer window behaviour, it brings me back to what could've and should've been.

If he didn’t do this the game would’ve ended 2-2 and Liverpool would’ve won the league

As a City fan myself, one of my biggest "What If"-s is definitely our 18/19 season. In that season, we ended up winning the Community Shield, Carabao Cup, FA Cup and Premier League too. The reason I'm calling it a "what if" season is because WHAT IF in that Manchester City vs Spurs Champions League 2nd leg match, Sterling's goal wasn't OFFSIDE and that Llorente HANDBALL goal was called HANDBALL instead of being counted, IMO that goal is the sole reason why UEFA changed the HANDBALL rule right afterwards.
Im not trying to sound biased here or anything, but I believe had we made a comeback that night, we would go all the way and win the competition.
Had that happened, City would've won the Domestic & European treble and could potentially sum it up with 7 TROPHIES, because they would also participate in the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup too.

A big "What If" we may need to grapple with *very* soon (and it relates directly to this Liverpool team and season) is, essentially...
"What If" Manchester City doesn't cheat! And for now, I'd ask we just focus on what is *clear and obvious* would've happened! So ruling out cup competitions, because I'm not even going to *try* to predict who would've won in, say, a hypothetical Finals matchup between the team a cheating Man City defeats in the semis and the team a cheating Man City defeated in the final (and you'd have to do that for *every* round and rework the entire tournament bracket to predict something like that). I'm also not going to predict who wins if the 2nd/3rd/4th placed teams are very close in a season Man City won (for example, in Man City's centurion season, 2nd placed Man United and 3rd placed Tottenham are only 4 points apart and only 2 goals apart in goal difference - and if you remove their games against Man City, they're only *one* point apart and Tottenham as the GD lead. That's close enough across 36 matches that no one can definitively say what two more matches against a random hypothetical non-cheating opponent would land in terms of the final title race).
But there *are* certain things we *can* predict with almost absolute certainty! For example, we can say with almost absolute certainty that Man United wins in 2011-2012 if the cheaters weren't there - given that Man United's 89 points (tied with Man City, only losing on GD) was 19 points ahead of the next closest team, Arsenal (with 70 points). And yes, we can *also* almost certainly say Liverpool wins *this* 2018-2019 season's title, given they were 25 points ahead of the next closest team, Chelsea (with 72 points).
But in keeping with the theme of the video, the *known* affects would go *far* beyond that. As stated in the video, Man City handed Liverpool its *only* loss that season! If Man City doesn't cheat, Liverpool almost *certainly* goes undefeated (and in a season they won the PL title *and* the Champions League)! *That* much *is* known!
But I would add *one more* "known" effect. And simply put, I'd say, Liverpool almost *certainly* gets to that 100-point mark if Man City is replaced with *any* hypothetical non-cheating team. And I can sum up why with *this* crazy stat: Liverpool got a *minimum* of *4 points* out of 6 possible from *every* home-and-away PL matchup *except* Man City! Liverpool only got *one* point from *both* matches against Man City (because they drew at home and lost on the road)! Remove the Man City fixtures, and Liverpool got *96* points in their other *36* matches! To reach 100 points in the full 38 games, they'd need only *4* points in the home-and-away fixture against that hypothetical last non-cheating team, and Liverpool had *achieved* that against *every other* team that season! Outside of Man City, Liverpool won *18* of their 19 home fixtures - with *Leicester* being the *only* other team to take points off Liverpool at home (and Liverpool defeated Leicester in the away fixture). All of Liverpool's other draws came *on the road* (and they won their home fixtures against those same teams - again, for a *minimum* of 4 points out of a possible 6 against *every* other team that season). Simply put, Liverpool almost *certainly* gets *a minimum* of 4 points (out of 6 possible) in the overall home-and-away fixtures against a random hypothetical non-cheating team that year (instead of the only 1 they got across both matches against Man City), adding *three more* points to their total *at least,* getting them *to* that 100-point centurion mark to go with their undefeated season, PL title, and Champions League title!
Oh, and add to that that if Man City doesn't cheat, they *also* don't reach that centurion mark the year prior, making Liverpool the *only* team in history who would have achieved that (let alone in a season where they were *also* undefeated *and* won the Champions League)!
Simply put, I believe that the evidence is there that *this* was the greatest English team of all time! It took *literal cheating* to prevent them from going undefeated, reaching 100 points, and winning a PL title *all* in the same year they won the Champions League!
