One of the best ballads of the 80's. It came out on Lita's album 'Lita' and was her highest charting song.

"Close My Eyes Forever" peaked @ #8 in 1989. Lita Ford was a member of the all-girl punk band The Runaways between 1975 - 1979. As a solo artist, she charted 4 singles on the Billboard Hot 100. This was the biggest hit.

One thing I like about rock is that no matter how much you slow it down, no matter how lovey dovey it gets, there is always an under lying feeling of potential mayhem. You can feel it when the guitar solo starts going, or in the imperfect notes, that slight raspy sound in their vocals that lets you know that this could explode at any moment, but they are barely containing it. Not sure if I'm getting my point across well enough, but in a nut shell, every rock ballad has an underlying current of violence, mayhem, and imperfection that is just barely in check.

DUDE!!! any Ozzy with Randy is legend...2 albums of beginning to end excellence. Then there is the oft maligned Jake Lee stuff...it is also excellent. Jake had huge shoes to fill.I think he did it competently. Jake was not Randy, but Jake was also great...imo...Then there is Zak.Not really as good as Randy or Jake, but has a raw and powerful sound, gotta love Zak too, and he has gotten better and better over the years, and has been with Ozzy much longer than any other guitar player. Obviously, I must mention Tony Iomi. He is legend. He is the archetype. Tony, Geezer, Bill, and John Michael Osborne created a type of music that defines my youth.Another of my favorite Ozzy albums was "Speak Of The Devil", this live album featured Brad Gillis on guitars, a live album of Black Sabbath tunes that was made after Randy's passing and before Jake Lee joined Ozzy.
"Close My Eyes Forever", is not my favorite. It was more about Lita's rack, than it was about music,,,but, I like a good rack as much as the next guy...Peace Brother, I can not pronounce your name, but have a good holiday Cadinho

Once saw an interview with Lita where she tell about her days with Ozzy (and Tony Iommy) where she tell about the recording of this song...where she are genuinely surprised of Ozzys skills as a singer...she said "He can really hits those notes" :-). Lita being underrated IMO knows what shes talking about. Ozzy may not have a spectacular voice...but he is certainly skilled

Ozzy's wife was managing Lita at that point in time which is one of the reasons she managed to snag Ozzy. If you enjoy this song and the other song y'all listened to, Kiss Me Deadly, you should listen to her songs Gotta Let Go, Shot of Poison, and Playing With Fire. Also, if you want to hear Ozzy do another ballad that I've never seen a reaction to you should check out Dreamer. I think Amber would love it, and the piano would probably hook Jay.

My favorite ozzy ballad is goodbye to romance. This song was written about ozzy's break up with black sabbath. You can however put multiple meanings to the song. It is my all time favorite song.

Ohhhh, you did one I requested! Thanks! And yes, you saw how sorrowful and chilling this song is. Yes, another that I like, too.
And yes, it is powerful when you get two emotionally charged singing together like this, as you mentioned.

King and Queen of the Darkside ! It took the country by storm! "Close My Eyes Forever", and "Falling in and Out of Love", a song co-written by Nikki Sixx of Mötley Crüe. The ballad "Close My Eyes Forever", a duet with Ozzy Osbourne, remains her most successful song, reaching No. 8 on the US Billboard Hot 100 / BUT this Billboard rating is for "Pop Rock". The "Heads" as we were called back in the day short for "Pot Heads"{Brains, Jocks were the other 2} made many babies to this song and hoped that they would do more. Never happened!

I know you love guitarists, so I’d like to bring Junior Brown to your attention. He plays a double neck neck guitar, with top being electric and the bottom a lap steel for sliding. It’s his own invention, and he plays it sweetly. His biggest hit is “My Wife Thinks Your Dead,” but he also wrote and performed the theme to BETTER CALL SAUL. Also, he backed Stone Temple Pilots on Letterman for “Sour Girl.”

I saw this song done live by Lita Ford with Lzzy Hale of Halestorm and they killed, you can find them doing this on you tube, worth tracking down.
So for Female Friday how about more Halestorm? Going on a year since your last reaction with them, how about Freak Like Me? Please, You would both love it. Enjoy. 🎵🎸🎹🎶

Sharon Osbourne was Lita's manager. They did this song in one session while waiting for Sharon to come home. Another interesting fact the jeans she's wearing she bought off a line worker she met while out driving. She paid $100 for each pair he would bring her.
