    I purchased the same box for my General, and use the same bags to hold tools and tire repair kit. I use a Harbor freight moving blanket on inside of box to deaden sound and protect box. I can also put small cooler in side the box, pretty sweet.

      Great suggestions. I pulled out an old trunk storage bag and added it to the box. I've still got plenty of room for my helmet as well as a cooler and other stuff for the trail.

    Anchors get really tight in the hole but the box its self is moving around the anchors a lot. Nice video...

      I had to adjust the anchors a bit. If you use a wrench to tighten the nut, you can get the movement to go away. I got it where it was snug going in and out, but it was very secure once locked in.

    Appreciate the info. Looking for a cooler lock and ride like that. Two door access similar to that. Anyone know of one?

    Have you attempted to mitigate the pipe heat from making the bed floor and the box extremely hot ? The bottom outside temp of our bed mounted cooler on longer rides is easily 100 degrees.

      I've noticed some heat. Add you said, it does warm up on longer rides. I've not tried any mitigation, but my thinking would be some additional shielding on the underside.

    Ben could by chance measure from the back of the box to the inside of the tailgate and tell me what it measures ? And have experienced any water getting in the box when raining or dust when riding. Thank you

      I don’t have the measurements handy right now, but I think they may be in another comment. As to water, I had good luck, but I did add a second layer of stick on weatherstripping on top of the OEM weatherstripping to help seal it well.

    Ben still love your vids, but I have one thing on my 2017 deluxe that you don't have yet? and thats turn signals which i got at super atv that intragrates the rear taillights its a plug and play

      I've looked at some of those kits, but I've never decided to actually get one. In Georgia, you don't have to register SxS vehicles, so it's not required. As such, it's something that's low on my list (but not off my list) right now.

      James Gourlie I wound up doing a turn signal kit from Corbin custom works on our 18 ride command General. Like yours, it’s plug & play for the rearsx the front has (2) 3/4” amber led’s per side. One next to the headlight facing forward and the other in the fender facing the side of the machine. Two switches (one, a 3 position rocker for left or right and the other a 2 position for hazards) are mounted in the dash next to the winch switch. That setup drove me nuts so I mounted a universal turn signal stalk to the steering column & wired that to the system. Here in nys, it’s virtually impossible to register a utv (because of weight) but I managed to get it done. Unfortunately, at least here, there’s 0 hope of ever getting it registered as street legal.

    Can it be mounted closer to tailgate instead of being up close to cab? I was thinking same thing with dividers, tools and straps on one side clothes and food on the other
    Thanks

    Hi Ben,
    What are the inside dimensions of the box? Can't find that information at the Polaris website.
    Thanks

      Bed of the General: 41"w x 28" d x 13" h (the bed does taper a bit towards the tailgate). Storage box (measured at the opening; the actual inside dimensions may be a bit more): 39" w x 13" d x 14" h.

    How do you prevent theft of the box ?

    • @GeneralTalkWithBen
      @GeneralTalkWithBen  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can install a lock on the lock and ride plugs to prevent the box from being stolen. You can't lock the box itself, though (you'd have to rig up a locking system for it).

    What do those boxes go for

    • @GeneralTalkWithBen
      @GeneralTalkWithBen  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Here's a link to the box on their site: general.polaris.com/en-us/shop/accessories/racks-storage/2881527/. The retail is $310. If you have a Costco membership, though, be sure that you get the 15% off coupon from their site. It's a great way to save money at the dealer.

      @@GeneralTalkWithBen Hi Ben! You mention the Costco coupon for 15% off on Polaris accessories. I have checked the Costco website and can't find that. Do you happen to have a link? Thanks!

    • @GeneralTalkWithBen
      @GeneralTalkWithBen  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tim Tishler try this link: www.costcoauto.com/Powersports/parts_and_service/Default.aspx. You may need to try a few different zip codes if it tells you that there are no dealers in your area. Look up those dealers, then use their zip code. If all else fails, call the number on the website. When I put in my zip code (which some sites think is in MO?!?!?) it doesn’t work. I have to use another nearby zip code. Good luck and thanks for watching!

    How can you be "really really pleased with this purchase" when you haven't even installed it yet?

      It’s been a good box, and it’s made well (and it holds a lot of stuff).

      @@GeneralTalkWithBen Is it easily removed to use the bed for other things?

    • @GeneralTalkWithBen
      @GeneralTalkWithBen  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes. Very easy, but it can get heavy after you load it up.
