Even playing as a deep lying midfielder, his movement, awareness on and off the ball, and his ability to ping passes from deep linking defense and attack is immense. One of those rare midfielders who constantly moves into space making himself available for the next ball. Not many players have that quality. A player who's absence is felt and realized when they are not in the team. No coincidence that every Arsenal manager since Wenger has started him week in week out, that a top level manager like Mourinho wanted him at Roma, and that Xhaka captains his country and is a critical part of the Swiss team for years now. Always been an exceptional player, before Arsenal even signed him.
He was very good last season. He's so important to the team and the midfield. He was scapegoated during a time of pure frustration for arssnals and even then, it was a minority section.

Of all players we have, this is the man I want to see lift the PL and Champions League trophy. He’s only 28, he’s got 5 more years to achieve that with us and it’s entirely possible.
Biggest change that has happened in my opinion is that he feels protected by both midfielders and defenders. Years ago he would be the defensive midfielder but that's not his role at all. Too slow at times, sloppy on the ball, wouldn't search for spaces up front with his decisions. But now, with Partey doing that job, having Zinchenko/Tierney to help in there too, we are all seeing FINALLY his true potential. If it wasn't for the misses by the strikers he could easily have 5-6 assists in PL right now. Scoring more goals than ever. I know Jesus and Zinchenko have been great signings, Martinelli and Saka are doing so well, defense is magnificent with the likes of White in new position, or Saliba, the new fan favourite, but for me the biggest discovery this season has been Granit. I'm so so glad we didn't sell him and that he can prove what we thought was impossible ever since we signed him in 2016. So so pleased.

I have said this all along when xhaka took his shirt of was getting red cards etc it was because the team wasnt a unit there was nothing about us there was no passion almost like the team didn't care, and he was frustrated..... Look at us now some would say the "COMPLETE" package and I'd have to agree, the whole team just oozes passion , the way football should be played as a team, not just about an individual, the passing the cohesion, the togetherness everything is done together just how it used to be.... This is the arsenal the fans have been missing and been waiting for and it's so good to see.

Even this video, the reason he made mistakes was that he was forced to cover the leftback role when KT went MIA up the pitch, now KT is on the pitch less, he can go forward and cover a normal space for a numnber 8, rather than several acres of space, this should be called "Mikels finally playing him the position every other team he played for used him"
His positive influence in the dressing room cannot be overstated, and his fitness. I don't think anyone at Arsenal played more minutes than him this season so far, not even Ramsdale who rests in EL games.
