Good job Steve! i think you need to see the other festivals of our country. they are just as historical and full of fun as the Ati-Atihan of Iloilo. See the Panagbenga of Baguio, the Kadayawan of Davao, Pahiyas of Quezon, Masskara Festival, Pamulinawen of Ilocos and more! Thanks for featuring this! You must have enjoyed the fun and warmness of the Filipino people! God bless you!
yeah, of course... it was a typographical error and sorry for that. thanks for the correction though. and by the way, you don't have to be sarcastic. you could have written it in a nice way. anyway, the important thing is; I just want to appreciate Steve for featuring this colorful festival in our country and would like to suggest to see our other festivals that one thing for sure he would like to see and endorse to other tourists. Mabuhay Ati-Atihan ng Kalibo, Aklan!
Thanks for the feedback. The "A Day Away" series is just that.... what we do in a single day. Since we spent two days at the festival, we thought it should have its own video.
Man, that looks incredible! It's a gorgeous vid, especially @ 1080p. Looks like y'all had a great time there. I have a friend who just spent her honeymoon in the Philippines, so I need to see if she was there during the festival. Thanks for sharing this!
If you hadnt said where you were, I would have sworn that was somewhere in the carribean or mexico. Biggest festival here in connecticut is at the pequot rez.... Green Corn Festival!
Well done, but too short. Why not combine this with your "A Day Away: Kalibo" video? The quality of your work is excellent. No silliness or wisecracks or stuffing your face with food. Of course, walking shots are difficult without a Steadycam. We look forward to more of your travel vids. My wife and I spend several weeks in Aklan each year, mostly in Malay.
hmm... well since I'm originally from California there really isn't anything specific to talk about, there is always stuff happening in LA ^^b Thanks much for the vid! ;)
you leave out key details. The Malays painted themselves black and dressed up in tribal costumes so that they would look more like the Atis. It was a celebration of the Atis, giving them thanks for letting them have the island. The religious part was just added later, but it's not really a religious festival. It's a celebration of blackness
You drank out of a plunger? Really? Brave or silly, Don't really know. I lived in Columbus and there would be 2 or 3 candidates. The 4th of July fireworks downtown, the Gay Pride March and the Community Fest. 10's of thousands to the later 2 and nearly 500,000 to the first. But I haven't lived there in nearly 3 years, so there is is nothing remotely close in my small town.
