Two nights later 6/23 "For Badgeholders Only" might be their best performance of this song ever. But man this one sounds great. Been a very long since I heard it. L.A. always brought out their best performances. "Badgeholdrrs" by the way is the show where Keith Moon comes out on stage all hammered and addresses the crowd right before the encore. Then he procedes to spend the encore on the other side of Bonham kit bashing away on whatever pleases him using the mallets for the tympani. Classic. "very few people can actually tupper and tell you what rock'n'roll is all about..." There's a re-release titled "Sergeant Page's Lonely Hearts Club Band" with far superior sound quality than the original Badgeholders release. RIP JHB.
i used to sort of write off 77 for some reason...maybe due to the common hype about how awful a year it was for them (which it ended up being). But musically i like it way more than 75. Plants voice is better. And i LOVE the live versions of songs from Presence. NFBM and ALS, just incredible. Those songs just fucking rock so god damn hard live (and studio)....and theyre so evil sounding lol. I think Presence is Zeppelin at its darkest....the vibe is evil and dark. I like that. I kind of enjoy this period of Jimmy Page, he just was so far out there in excess and so caught up in that seedy dirty evil rock star life. Its Jimmy at total abandon, just totally reaching for the stratosphere, in all aspects...his playing, lifestyle, outfits, etc. and the music reflects that, and thats a unique period of zeppelin.

I avoided the 77 bootlegs for years but gave them a chance and actually came to prefer them for exactly the reasons you mentioned. The darkness, the excess, the decadence, etc. And some of the extended jamming on the songs, particularly No Quarter, is out of this world.
The Timekeeper, Bonzo,just whipped this song into a furiously -paced, sonic assault on the senses!Not many, if any band can do this for a 3 hour set. They played as if possessed by the Gods of Titan!
I think this tape runs a little fast here... just try slowing down the speed a bit... at 90% or so... impossible here on YT, you've to download it first.

And think about this: Achilles came close to the END of the show every night. He sounds like he could play all night here
I sometimes burst out laughing after listening to live Led Zeppelin since it's so outrageous and unfair how far these guys are ahead of anyone else.
