    Thank you! The first one broke my back - tried with a car jack and had to pull it out by hand half of the way. Watched your clip, and used the first post as a lever to take out the rest - such a breeze. 8 years later and you're still helping! Thanks!

    Brilliant!!! I sent my sister to Home Depot with a list: Rope, cinder blocks, and a 4x4x8. She came back. Tested it out. And it worked brilliantly. Thank you so much. Hope your farm is still going strong. Godspeed Patriot!

      You can actually use the tool with the handles and the weighted pipe you use to put them in to pull these. It’s actually much simpler and quicker instead of doing any rigging. Search it up on TH-cam, it’s way quicker

    Thank you so much. I will be using this tomorrow to pull some posts. I knew there was something to doing it that had to do with leverage, I just wasn't sure exactly how to do it, but now I do!!! Thank you so much!! Hoping all is well and sending much love and praying for many blessings!!!

    This is such a simple yet great idea, I’ve been trying to remove my posts for years without success. Thanks for sharing!

    I use a variant of this technique, which does not require the cinder blocks. I have a long 2x4 (8' typical), with a couple of holes drilled through it at points nearer one end (perhaps 2' and 3' from one end). I usually use a 3/8" bolt, so the holes are slightly larger than that. I drill that same sized hole through the post to be pulled, and quite close to the ground; the idea is that with the bolt passing through the 2x4 and the post, the 2x4 should be laying pretty much flat on the ground. Then I just go to the far end of the 2x4 and lift....the post pops out of the ground. If the dirt is soft, I place a small piece of 3/4" plywood on the ground and rest the pivot end of the 2x4 on it. I usually start with the 2x4 hole that is neared the end, because that gives more leverage, but if the post is still partially stuck in the ground when I have lifted the 2x4 to shoulder height, I can relocate the bolt to the other hole and thus get more lift height, albeit with less leverage.

    Nice. "Give me a lever long enough, and I can move the world"

      This kind of work is all but forgotten. Everyone seems to want to use jacks and special pullers of various sorts. I say grab you a hunk of firewood and throw a log across it! lol

    Can you do for a metal post w/cement for me??? Please Thank you!!

    The simple lever system gives much better mechanical advantage, the closer you place the fulcrum/pivot to the post. it can be within a few inches as long as there is no concrete being lifted.

    nice job. i'm looking to put up a fence on the cheap to keep a goat in. what would you do

    • @BackwoodsEXPatriot
      @BackwoodsEXPatriot  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Goats are notorious about climbing with their front feet onto the fence and smashing it down, so whatever fencing material you choose, I would definately put the posts 4 feet apart instead of 6 or 8. This fencing material was very cheap but has stood up to abuse and weather nicely, so this is what I would choose www.lowes.com/pd_62294-307-84067_0__?productId=1094819&Ntt=fence+wire&Ns=p_product_price|0&pl=1¤tURL=%3FNs%3Dp_product_price%7C0%26Ntt%3Dfence%2Bwire%26page%3D2&facetInfo=#img Notice it's 4 ft tall instead of 3 and still affordable at $70 for 100 ft.

      Also if I had to make a large pen, I would use wood posts instead of steel, but that's just my cheapness showing! lol

      Backwoods Patriot do you think that barbed wire would keep them in?

    • @BackwoodsEXPatriot
      @BackwoodsEXPatriot  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ELFWAX Well, the problem with standard 4 or 5 strand barbed wire fencing is goats crawl under..So it would work if you put like 8 tight strands for a 4 foot height. Like put the bottom strand 4 inches from the ground, then another 4 inches up, then another 6 in up, then 6 in spacing from there up. The problem is when your goats have kids. They can be very small so usually woven wire is used to cover all the bases.
