I own a 2015 EXL since it was new and give it a solid 9 out of 10. Only 3 things I would change about the Pilot design. 1> more than 2 cup holders in the front. I'm glad Honda recognized that in the 3rd generation and now has 4 cup holders in the front. 2> I wish the EXL came with a Navi option instead of the leap in price for the touring pkg as the only way to get the Navigation 3> The wiring harness should come standard on all of AWD Pilot's instead of just putting it in the Touring only. Now if I decide I want to tow something I must first pay out of pocket for a wiring harness myself. That blows

We've 3 kids, compared 2014 EXL and 2016 EXL side by side at a dealership and went ahead with 2014 EXL. ONLY $1000 difference (Strange, eh?) BUT we still went ahead with 2014. It's spacious, seats are WELL PADDED and made for rugged use. 2016 is loaded with loads of girlish stuffs (Chances of stuff breaking down is high ) , but 2014 is meant to last. Hate 2016 backside look, but loved 2014 rugged look. Dont like 2014s alloy wheels (I may buy another fancy set, this is meant to be my kids hauler and my second SUV..so not much worried). I know fuel economy and stuff, I dont care spending 200 per year max on 2014 over 2016. Our first preference was space and comfort, 2014/2015 model was PERFECT. For style I am buying a Mercedes GL 350 in two or three months. Pilot is meant for utility and older version fits right in.

Awesome comparison for those considering either Pilot. I test drove both over the weekend and bottom line, the 2016 has a smoother ride. The driver seat of the 2015 is uncomfortable. However, the space in the third row is more spacious in the 2015. I did go to the dealer to purchase the 2015, thinking I'd get a great deal, however, after the test drive, chose to purchase the 2016. The smooth ride sold me, especially since I spend so much time in the car. Both my husband and I love the ride and it's perfect for those adults who do not want a minivan.
I have a 2015 toyota corolla sport but im wanting to trade it in for a new 2015 honda pilot i like the taller feel of the 2015 honda pilot and the box shape of it i dont like the 2016 one and im also trading it in because im going to need the extra space because im planning on having a baby so i need something we can easily grow into and has much more space the honda pilot is a very very good suv and by its self is a very good car brand so i will be going soon for my honda pilot.... my sister in law baught a 2009 honda pilot touring and its gorgeous with tan leacher inside silver paint in the inside its a very gorgeous suv i cant wait to buy my own 2015 honda pilot... 😍

The look has certainly changed on the outside, but Honda is trying to open up the market of the Pilot to those who may have not liked the more box style look of the previous generation. However in this new design they were able to gain much better fuel economy and when adding the complete tow package, can now tow up to 5k lbs! We certainly wouldn't see any factory minivan do that!

Actually the 2016 Pilot has more room in most interior dimensions. Your passengers will be much more comfortable with the space of the 2016 over the 2015. I own a 2015 and I am more comfortable inside of the 2016 when I sit in any of the three rows.
Code Red captains chairs in the Second row of the Pilot came in only the Elite trim in 2016. They were unavailable in any Pilot before then. Then in 2019 they introduced captains chairs for the second row into the Touring trim along with the Elite. This is how it is today as well.
I really love the 2016 pilot. Until I sat in one. As a tall man it is much shorter roof line than my 2012 pilot. When I do final want a new one, the 2016 will not work for me. Damn shame.

Earth Dreams technology has a problem with high pressure driven raw gasoline blowing past the piston rings and diluting the oil in the crankcase, this of course will eventually cause premature engine wear and catastrophic engine failure. Oil must be changed more frequently than the manufacturer's recommendation to prevent this from occurring.
Honda missed the mark with the Pilot '16 styling. It looks like every other SUV out there. They had better come up with a real quick and good refresh to keep people interested. They would have been better off updating the 2015. Honda has another lady-generation Civic on their hands with this clunker.

I have a 2015 Pilot to trade in for 2024 Pilot Elite, the curved design of the 3rd gen is bad. That’s why I waited for 7 years for a redesign and here we are for a 2024 pilot elite.
Imma Turkey There are compartments added to the back and front of the 2016 Honda Pilot that, though they may not be labeled "cup holders" they are nearly in the same shape and could certainly hold a cup. These were not in the 2015 Pilot.
The back glass can't open like the old one, the head rests are always up on the new one so guess what. They will cause blind spots in the rear view mirror (fail) the design is ugly and it looks like a minivan. Nothing about that new pilot is nice. RIP Pilot. So sad. Best Pilots are from 2006-2015. This new one looks like an Odyssey rear ended a CRV.
It certainly has a more feminine look. Sorry guys, the women in our lives play a big part in our decisions and Honda knows it. I have had several women tell me how much they like the new Pilot better than the old. There will be many husbands who will get really excited because their wives are finally considering a Pilot as an option!

I will not be upgrading or exchanging to get the newest model. I won't be getting it at all. I like knowing that after my boys are out of high school and I'm done taking them to all their sports stuff, I can still drive my car because it DOESN'T look like a kid taxi.
Disappointing these center consoles continue to get wider. Difficult & uncomfortable for us Bigger Drivers with large legs. Also the Push button Start, makes these the easiest to steal.!! Push button START/STOP & Push button shifters are just WRONG!

You can't fit a 4x8 sheet of plywood in either year version. It is a mid sized SUV not full size like your Tahoe.

I have a 13 Pilot LX, and I like it’s design better. The newer Pilot gained a lot, but I think it lost a lot too! The second generation is the best.

I own a Pilot 2020, Highlander 2019, Pilot 2004, and 4Runner 2004. Pilot beats both Toyotas, but all are great.

2015 was better, the new one just looks like a giant CRV. The boxy version is better because an SUV is supposed to be boxy not curvy
