My dad worked on the crew cab line in Flint, Michigan when this truck was built. Often you can still find the "C/C" line sticker inside the drivers door on these. Very cool!!

Already have a lot of the parts square body syndicate gauges, new dual fuel pump wiring from jabin wood, 2018 tan Denali front and rear seats with full console, bp automotive harness. Can’t wait for more update videos

Texas SquareBodies would be the perfect place to do a model year line-up, showing the progression of the squarebody.

I Believe I was informed & told the same as he was ..on that subject.. & yess the the Exterior over head board Cab light are Original 2 all Dually pick ups & optional on some 2500 & 3500 single wheel Trucks

Considering that those bigger crew cab trucks were mainly bought by commercial entities and not really offered to the public. I'd say that's a great buy or find.

Must have paid out the eyeballs for that truck. Seller was in pain letting it go but money has to keep moving.

sweet truck, im like you buff it and drive it. i couldn't do a Duramax swap just because of the cost, but i could do a 6.5. i have a 83 C20 with a 6.2 and i love that truck, has more then enough power and gets 22 mpg on the highway.

Definitely doing the Duramax in the future, but this truck is just too cool to mess with the original look of it.

That crew cab pickup is an antique nowadays.
May I suggest Toyo MT 255 85 16's.... those tires will handle the weight of that truck and they're a true 33.5in tall tire. I run those on a 79 K20 with a HEAVY all steel flatbed on it.

Clearance lights are required by Federal law for any vehicle that exceeds 80” in width. That’s why all dualies have clearance lights. Other trucks can get the clearance lights as an option I suppose.
All 1 ton trucks have cab lights
Not completely true. DRW one tons do but the single rear one tons didn't all get cab lights. Gus, our 2wd one ton, does not have cab lights but Smokey does.
Hummer H1s are obviously single wheel and not a 1 ton, but require clearance lights because …….they exceed 80” in width.
My dream truck has the round headlights but that can be arranged on that truck 😏 beautiful find

My 87 is that same mint green under the white repaint... wondering if it was a forestry truck. It's bare bones 2wd 1/2 ton SWB with a 4.3 tbi and a 4 speed manual. I'd love a K30!

That is one big truck...and a darn clean one, to boot! I remember seeing a couple of those('90 or '91)back when they were new @ the Chevy dealer I worked at...they were a bright yellowish green and were going to a rural fire department. Cool truck😎👍

I have a 87 K30 Army Truck M1028. It is my daily Driver, Just installed a LQ4 with heads and cam, 4L80E trans, Holley Terminator ECU, Vintage Air. and Dana 60 Axles. You can't Hurt that Truck.

I started off with the exact same srw 3+3 truck for my project, except it had a utility bed on it when I got it. Zero rust anywhere. Same forest service green over tan interior. 350, sm465, np205, 4.56 axles. I’ve swapped out the dented manual doors for power and put a good fleetside bed on it. Seeing this video has me motivated to get back to it. Thanks.
Close..my dream truck would be a 4 door plus ext cab enough for bench seat that lays down for sleeper. Oh. And a Cummins 12valve

I was building my 84 welding truck a k 20. It had a bad rear end and a guy I worked with had a k30 4x4 for sale for I think 1800 dollars. I think it was a former gov truck of some kind plane Jane rool down windows no tilt ect but this was in Washington state the truck had zero rust no dents small block crew cab peanut butter interior
The seats were even pretty good
I drove it home it ran perfict but imedatly swapped the Dana 60 and 14 bolt and transfer case sold the motor and tranny the rest went for iron I had no place to keep it at the time. Now living in rust country sure wish I had saved that bed it was perfict
Oh, man! Unfortunately that's what happened a lot to these trucks and has made them so much harder to find. Regardless, I'm glad you got the K20 up and running and we now have this truck. :)
For a 1990 I thought it was a 78, chevy was definitely behind the curve of pickups of the time 🤣

This guy must stick local. A single wheel crew cab 4 speed 4x4 is a dime a dozen in Missouri and Kansas. I’ve bought and sold more than I care to admit and I’m only 25.

I think the most that would have gone in that tray would be a wheelbarrow and a couple of chainsaws.. Alot of those K30s and 35s get ripped apart as the axles go into Suburbans and Jeeps

I very seldom see any of those generation Chevrolet & GMC crew cabs on the roads nowadays & the same thing with the Suburbans, but the regular cabs on the other hand I still see on the roads sometimes.

Awesome truck. I thought the body style stopped in 87 but obviously not . Just different label for 2/4wd ..color is so cool . I found my build sheet under my front seat in the seat springs ...mines 79 k30 srw crew with 400ci and its all there still and was originally purchased for a hazmat response for local city use and I'm the second owner ...congratulations on your badass truck dude

Last year of that body style was 1988 he probably sold in 1990 cuz it's got that ugly green color on it
haha that's funny, but blazers, burbs, and heavy duty (3/4 ton and 1 ton) trucks stayed this body style 'til "91.
Those trucks normal had a 454 very rare to have 350. And most where manual. U need a ford and a Dodge
I have a '61 unibody in storage awaiting its turn. Definitely looking for a solid Dodge I can afford.
I like this truck alot...id put a bunch of money i to it and drive it everytime i...hell maybe even put a 4 cylinder diesel in it....

You mentioned a duramax swap you planning on running a Allison trans or something different. Just wondering what kind of floor pan massaging it'll take to get the Allison in place if any. Likely going to be running the 4L85 that's behind the LBZ in my van. It's worked well in it and for ease of simplicity, we'll likely just run it

I work for the US Forest Service and am dying to find a FS Green truck like this. We don't order green trucks except for fire engines anymore, and I think it would be so cool to roll into the ranger station in a classic like this. Although I would prefer something a *bit* shorter than the full crew cab, long bed. We still use those but I'll admit I prefer the smaller pickups.
I didn't know that! I love this truck and really can't wait to give it more of the love it deserves. If you're anywhere near the SE, we could make you rolling into the Ranger Station in this truck when we have it more reliable a possibility. @@UNITEDBYTRUCKS Hey, thanks for the reply! I'm over in Utah, but I really appreciate that offer, it's a really sweet truck. I'll shoot you an email just to chat and see if there is anything I can answer about the USFS. Mostly we use trucks like that to haul in a crew and their equipment. So for trail work, buckets, shovels, Pulaskis and the like. Although I work as a park ranger so the last thing I used a pickup for was transporting a smokey bear costume around. Today I am using a Ford C-Max, which is maybe less iconic!

I’m sorry buddy, I need to say this. It’s not the US Forestry or Forestry service it is the United States Forest Service or US Forest Service or even Forest Service. Smokey bear and no the in the name. I’m a Forest Service firefighter in California and been with them for 21 years.
A lot of the trucks that are going to white and not that green and the engine or Hot Shot buggy’s are green.

Awesome truck! I need to get with him, for a few parts. May I suggest air bags on your Duramax. I had to put them on my pickup just to level out the load. To bad I didn’t catch you on the road, you passed through my hometown of Bossier city. Thanks for the video!

@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS Im in Georgia and i have the grille that would be in that truck. My truck is 90 1 ton 2wd that im making a dually. My 2wd single wheel crew cab 1 ton doesn’t have cab lights. If you want the grille you can have it.

Wouldn't a 90 model square body 4 wheel drive be a V 30? Ive also seen the R/V designators used with the 4 digit numbers. 1500, 2500, 3500 and such. Ive also known this to start arguments.

You guys called it a K30 instead of a V3500 because too many do not know what a V3500 is. I have the same V3500 truck in a 1991 model that came with the 4L80E over-drive transmission. It is a civilian SRW Silverado model with all the bells and whistles. Most of the V series crew cabs where base line no frills service models for the military or Government agencies. Particularly the single SRW models.

You said 4 speed & I was looking for the clutch pedal & shifter. I was disappointed when I didn't see it. It's a great looking & solid truck regardless. I'd love to have it myself.
Oh, man. Didn't mean to say that if I did. It's an auto and will likely get a 4l85 that's currently behind the LBZ in my van
NP. I've got my dad's 79 C20 Crew that he bought new. I was drooling over that V30 that you picked up. I've got all the CUCV stuff to convert mine but haven't pulled the trigger yet. Keep those videos rolling.

I bought a 83 2wd Oklahoma park ranger truck that's wilderness green and still has the dept of recreation and tourism decals on the doors. She getting lowered right now.

A lady just gave me a 3+3 because she didn’t have the title! I don’t know if it’s a 2500 or a 3500 yet. I still have to go get it, I don’t know if I’m going to sell it or part it out yet! No engine and no wheels sitting on blocks, but no rust!
