Let’s face it, some states end up as punch lines more often than other states.
I mean who hasn’t heard a dating close relative joke about Arkansas? If you have never heard one of those jokes, I’d like to welcome you to America.
Making fun of places has always been an American pastime. No matter where you live you have made or heard a joke about other places. I've heard jokes about states people, cities, insurance rates, real estate, and rental prices. Nothing escapes a good joke.
Today we find out what jokes get the most ridicule.

some years ago I went on vacation. well, half way thru Ohio my car was low on gas so I went to a gas station. Sadly I had to pump my own gas. not a pretty sight, but in the end I got help from other drivers.
Best part is when I tell this story to others they are generally understanding and say something like, you couldn't figure out how to work the gas pump. then I have to admit I never made it that far. what I had trouble with was opening the cap. stupid thing had a lock key.
since then I got married to someone from another state. After learning this story he asked me why I hadn't bought a cap that didn't require a key. I had never thought of that one until he asked me that.
we moved out of Jersey this past year, and I actually pumped my own gas (kinda) once. highly over rated experience, so these days he's in charge of doing it
I do miss the pizza :(

As an out of state grad student studying in Utah, it is by far the most made fun of state. I was in the Air Force and have lived all around the country, and Utah gets by far the most jokes of any other state I've lived in. The amount of Mormon jokes or polygamy jokes, or the lack or coffee or alcohol jokes, or getting married at 11 years old jokes I've heard from my friends out of state are endless. Which is sad, because it's a beautiful place with a diverse group of people, and I've loved living here so far!

I grew up in Northeastern Oklahoma in a region so close to Arkansas that radio stations called it Arklahoma. I was told growing up at least once by my Dad to let him know if I was dating anybody just so he could make sure that they weren't related. As someone born in Oklahoma (and still an avid follower of Sooners football), I can almost guarantee that all of the negative stereotypes derive from the novel "The Grapes of Wrath" and the hack job that John Steinbeck did on the state and its people. I'd give a bit of consideration though to one particular joke told by one of our most famous citizens, Will Rogers, who said of the Red River Rivalry (the OU-Texas game) that it was the one day of the year when the IQ of both states went up.

I was born and lived in Tulsa until I was 12. My favorite Oklahoma joke, which is mild, is
Q: Why doesn’t Texas fall into the ocean?
      A: Because Oklahoma sucks!

The only thing I heard of about Oklahoma is tornadoes. Surprised he didn’t even mention one thing about them

Dentists? In Arkansas? That reminds me of the joke: Q: How do you know the toothbrush was invented in Arkansas? A: Because if it had been invented anywhere else it would have been called a teethbrush.
