Fun facts: TOP stopped performing "Act Like Nothing's Wrong" due to the respect for his ex-girlfriend's marriage. This song is about her. Though fans really wanted to hear this live again so he performed this live during 0 to 10 concert behind the stage and only had the screen playing on stage (this screen design caused quite some controversies because of another group, you can look it up).
TOP uses a lot of figurative lyrics, art vocabulary, and wine names so sometimes it is very hard to understand his lyrics, especially when translating it to English.
His outfit in Doom Dada live stage IS A PAINTING from Piet Mondrian. TOP is obsessed with art so the more you know about art, the more you will realize how much art he puts on his work.
I attended MADE concert where TOP performed Doom Dada live and I'm telling you goosebumps don't lie. I never screamed so much in my life

Thank you. I needed something to cheer me up so badly after all the trauma this week. I saw this and immediately watched.
1. "I'm T.O.P. I do what I want." This is the most important thing to know about him.
2. Act Like Nothing's Wrong was written about his ex-girlfriend, so it is a true story.
3. Turn it Up was a clap back song directed at MC Mong whose nickname was Monkey. So that's why the monkey. MC Mong pulled out his teeth to avoid going into the military, so that's why the teeth pulling moment is there.
4. T.O.P is a Scorpio, so there's a strong current of sexuality running through most of his lyrics/mvs.
5. T.O.P's great-uncle is the most famous abstract artist from Korea, Kim Whanki. His family is mostly made up of artists. T.O.P is also one of the most significant art collectors in Asia, so you're always going to get a lot of art references in his songs/mvs. "Rap Basquiat" refers to the famous African-American Neo-Expressionist artist, Jean-Michel Basquiat.
6. The outfit in Doom Dada live was based on the work of Piet Mondrian, another famous abstract artist.
7. Doom Dada has so many references that essays have been written about the meanings! (and no, not just from me!)
FINALLY, SOMEONE SEES THE 2001 REFERENCES! That has been driving me crazy for years with reactors! They would say it was Planet of the Apes, etc. The Evolutionary Chart up the hill: I think he's saying he's the head of the evolution of rap.
T.O.P was quoted as saying, "I wanted to make a unique video that looks like a cult movie with some fun elements."
But also know that there are several different versions with different lyrics. (The ones you were looking at had some mistakes.) Like GD, T.O.P loves wordplay and there are a lot of Korean puns and colloquialisms that aren't really translatable.
But my opinion is that like "Turn it Up", this is a diss track, informing the other rappers out there that he is the God of Rap, "the Rap Basquiat", and he will make listeners go crazy like "a clear pinot noir"......what other rapper raps about Basquiat and Pinot Noir??!! ALSO, he's a wine connoisseur so a lot of wine references.
The video also includes a horse painted like a zebra, a Zoetrope machine (in reference to the fact that .TO.P has acted in several movies and won 2 acting awards), a portion of his massive collection of chairs which he's obsessed with, a Salvador Dali red mustache, AND a fast rap that is only .05 seconds slower than Eminem in "Rap God".
So, you know, T.O.P covers all the bases! LOL

Doom Dada's music video seems ridiculous at first glance but it actual holds A LOT of imagery because he's an intelligent man of art. For example, the motorcycle scenes are actually really clever ways to portray a diss about other rappers compared to him. While he could lead the industry with ease and goof around, the others were like children who wanted a chance to drive. Even when they were given the wheel, TOP's hand is still steering and leading the industry despite him relaxing on the side. It shows that TOP needed zero effort to lead the industry during that part of their career. The confidence and unique artistry within that man is just captivating. TBH he still holds a really tight grip on the industry even after 5 years of a hiatus. Everyone's reactions to seeing him in "Still Life" is proof of that.
You'll also find that their live stages are THE BEST in kpop. Their stage presence is no joke and literally TOP has rapped that ending part of "Doom Dada" faster than the backing track before. Once you start watching their live stages, concerts, and documentaries... your expectations of other stages from groups will be so high.
true..the end...coz bigbang introduced me to kpop, my standard of live performance sooo high that i still cant find idol live that match to bigbang live..something diff, something bold and new but still refreshing n relateable..

T.O.P wrote Act Like Nothing's Wrong after a breakup when he was a trainee. Apparently the girl wanted him to choose between her and his career, because trainig was taking too much of his time so he chose his career but it hurt him deeply. He stopped performing that song to respect the girl's wishes.
There's another great song that he wrote and I consider it's very underappreciated, it's called A Good Man (it's from 2009 or something like that) and the whole group performs it; maybe you can check it out at some point, you can find a version of it with subtitles from their Love and Hope Tour.
A good man is one of all time favorite! Wish TOP will write more for group 🥲

As others have mentioned, T.O.P is really into art and he is known for his collections of paintings and artsy chairs and furniture. "Doom Dada" is all about the art movement called dadaism, which was a movement that started during WWI where artists rejected logic, reason and the aesthetic of modern capitalist society -- hence why you see the depictions of evolution and the angry baby, etc. in T.O.P.'s MV. The art movement spanned visual, literary and sound media, including collage, sound poetry, word collages, and sculpture, which is everything you saw and heard within "Doom Dada." (Yes, even the suit he wore in the live performance of "Doom Dada" is designed using the image of a famous painting.) Dadaist artists expressed their discontent toward violence, war, and nationalism, and were connected with nonconformist radical political thinking and parties. Although "Doom Dada" seems crazy, if you understand the concept behind the song and images, you see that the message is actually very deep and T.O.P is making a cultural and political statement.
In order to really understand most of T.O.P.'s songs and MVs you have to be pretty well versed in the art scene, because a large majority of his lyrics, images and metaphors have to do with art.
t.o.p is the most "rare" but top is a lover of art and chairs, he is a fan of salvador Dalí, which we see in his videos many references, he has dedicated himself more to acting individually, he has dramas and movies that make you cry top is an excellent rapper also a great actor soon he said he would have his individual album it is also said that he recorded something also as an actor so I am very excited to see what he will bring in what he loves ❤️

TOP is my first/ult bias in kpop, i’ve been a fan of him since 2012. I love how he creates his own standards and doesnt really follow the trends. His mind is creative and unique. He is also an art collector , model and actor. He is so versatile and always excel. He is art. He really gave a justification to his stage name T.O.P.
People have written dissertations trying to interpret Doom Dada MV, hahaha! Yup, TOP loves to educate VIPs about Art via his insta, mvs and lyrics. Some references in Doom DAda include 2001 Space Odyssey (you are right!), Blair Witch project (walking through the woods). The opening scene is a reference to a famous korean movie called Nom Nom Nom. Then the Salvadore Dali moustache. The running skeletons are an early form of animation called a zoetrope. The painting of a deer is by a famous korean painter Kim Whanki who is related to TOP. Hence the copyright Whanki Foundation on the MV. And of course, featuring TOP's own chair collection.

Also Eatyourkimchi did a very good analysis and awarded it their Most Bizarre Video award Search on youtube "The 2013 Eatyourkimchi Awards - Part 1", go to the 5:23 min mark. The opening sequence is from the korean movie The Good, The Bad and the Weird. Its on netflix. TOP dressed like the hero in the movie and the side-car is also from this movie. Remember TOP is a theatre studies major.

The suit that T.O.P wears is based on a work by a well-known artist Tom Sach who is his close friend, who gave him that work as a gift. His apartment is an Art Gallery literally speaking, in case you don't know T.O.P is a notable Art Curator and houses like SOTHEBY AND CHRISTIE call him for auctions. He is also a great wine lover, he is an exceptional taster, and he has his own vineyard in France and his first harvest has already come out, his brand is called L Spot. For reasons like these, VIP takes them as examples to follow, they are simple, they are not perfect, but they are always in search of achieving their dreams, and they encourage us to do the same, to fight for our dreams.
In my opinion, TOP is underrated, he is just a genius! So complex and simple at the same time. He's so handsome, kind, funny, maybe weird, but all of that makes him the artist and the person he is. He is also a great songwriter, and amazing actor, and an astonishing singer with that awesome tone of voice he has. He's the full package!. He truly deserves recognition. TOP is an actor. You may want to check out his movie Commitment on Netflix. Its a spy movie. Another movie is Tazza The Hidden Card which is about gambling and swindlers. It is what Zutter MV is loosely based on. I like Tazza cos TOP really showed his acting range here.

Their band is so talented and cool. The suit he’s wearing is definitely an art piece named after the artist who painted it called Mondrian. In the Doom Dada lyrics he reference being the rap Basquiat. Basquiat is a famous painter whose painting sold for millions. TOP is a world renowned art collector and he’s curated exhibitions for Sotheby’s.

I saw Doom dada live on their Made tour. It was amazing. Two concerts and it was just as good.

Definitely recommend spending some time with his lyrics-both he and G Dragon, especially as they learned more English, started making really wild puns that played back and forth, with translation. There’s a lot of really out-there references, to art and film.

This song was originally created to show his love for 90's hip hop and style. Particularly Biggie Small (one of his favorite artists). Turn it up was kind of a diss made towards another Korean rapper who tried to skip the mandatory military service. Doom Dada was a nod to Dadaism and all of the artistic aspects during that movement.

They used act like nothings wrong in a movie that starred t.o.p. and seungri, called 17, its good. Doom da da, at the time alot of kpop groups started to have rappers similar to him and still this is the pattern today (deep voiced etc.) He wasn't happy cause they never credited him and he felt he was better, thats why so many flows -it was a flex. this was the song that he reintroduced the Original to kpop. When you look at the lyrics that's why he says some of what he says... and the clothes... Mandrian a famous painting. Top has an artist pedigree, he's heavily into the art world and has curated a Sotheby's event in korea...the first and youngest ever to do this. BIGBANG songs, the members' solos especially TOP's and GD's tend to have a lot of references they're almost never straightforward so its extremely difficult to translate in English and I have encountered some people who think its nonsense.. but their songs are never that. their songs usually have korean expressions or terms that can't be properly translated unless you have a deep understanding of the language..
I think that’s why TOP and GDragon is well respected among the KHip-Hop community is because they will never be the typical KPop Idol Rappers… I dont know if u are aware that KPop Idols is look down in Sokor and almost always the lowest ranking among the entertainers in the industry… Trot Singers is like the God tier level among them but Bigbang change that and they still are that one group who have the most General Public followers! They can topped Korean Music Charts in any genre they will put out just like Still Life! They are that group despite those “scandals” will always be listened to by those GP. Back to lyrics, yes their lyrics will always be very good… As what they say, KHip-Hop rappers look up to them coz they break that stereotype of Idol rappers who is just an insert to a kpop group since they are just for visual or since they dont sing well in a kpop group…. Their swag and cool is legendary within KPop ang YG is known as the home of KPop Top Idol Rappers… There is always different if u will hear rappers from YG among other agency no hate… As what other reactors say, Bigbang is composed of solo superstars formed into one supergroup.. The song was dedicated to his girlfriend. The woman that loves him before all the fame and before his new physical form. This woman loves him when he has nothing. Im always curious who was this woman because when TOP release this song it was so true and heart wrenching.

Because he applauded the band, i feel i need to give BB's live band some love as well. Their live band during the concert is predominantly black, they have toured with them (as far as I know) for three of their concerts. I think they also toured with GD? Not sure tho.
