  • London Motorcycle Show 2023 - BMW R18 Transcontinental 4K
This is a short video from the BMW stand at the MCN Devitt London Motorcycle Show 2023. I'd had a look at the stand at Motorcycle Live in November 2022, but there's a couple of new models here that I thought were worth sharing.
BMW Motorrad is celebrating 100 years this year, and one of the Heritage Range special models, the R9T 100 Year Edition was on display. They also had the epic R18 Transcontinental. It's a barge, but a nicely finished one, with a six speaker stereo and every toy on the planet!
I hope it's interesting (and apologies it's a bit late... it's been a bit busy since I got back from the show)
    Thanks for watching.

excellent review man. I took the bait and chopped my GSA in for one in mid August. Took some getting used to but once you know how, you can cover ground quickly and she will lean way over to the pegs. that said she is best on sweepers and i have had over 50 mog on every trip. Sound system is a blast in towns and villages. Finally, get a powerbronze short screen and lose the tall one, hard to see through rain on visor and that bloody great window

Awesome! I’ve ridden the standard R18 but not the Transcontinental, but it is a work of art and engineering! Interested that you switched from a GSA, but it sounds like you are enjoying your decision! Ride safe.

Wow, fabulous bikes but either would be wasted on me. I wonder have much they cost ? Many thanks for showing them.

I think the Transcontinental starts at around £25k in the UK. The R9T 100 years edition is just over £18k (prices as of March 2023, as comments are up for a while!)

I think they start at £25k in the UK and go up from there… I think if you drop it you need a crane to get it back up!

Such polar opposites.. the RnineT looks fantastic.. can’t say the same about the R18 😬.. I like the base model but is that still a motorcycle or is it a car with two wheels missing?? 🤣

It’s nuts isn’t it. Not really my sort of thing, but it is something special!

Where's the "my new bike" video, André? 🤨

There’s a foot of snow in the valley and I’m knee to waist deep in snow on my dog walks 🤣. New bike is in the garage awaiting less slippery and salty surfaces. I also made the mistake of going back to work 5 days a week… shocking I know! It’s just until the end of April, and then I can get back to having more time for bikes. For now I’m mostly messing around with my GS in the garage in an attempt to get it ready for the Kielder 500 in a couple of weeks time.

May I ask why? You can use the thumb wheel to navigate and select, and the bike screen so you don’t need to take your hands off the bars or look down.

Not sure you need that when riding? Or at least it’s not ideal.

I like the stripped back R18, not this thing.
