Hey Ben, I have an Atari Flashback 8 that just stopped working. It seemed fine then crapped out on me. I opened it(yea I know those things are goin for $120 now, but its mine and I play it) and there was a red wire loose on one end that looked to have to been soldered at one point, but I couldn't figure out where it goes. Any advise?

Since I haven't had any Flashbacks newer than the 5 in this vid, I can't say for certain as I have never opened one myself. It would appear to me that they changed the location of a lot of wires between the 5 and the 8. From the diagram I was able to find the most accurate wire that is red comes off the buttons strip board. It seems to run from the power button to the little board for the power supply connector. Hard to spot but it looks like it's just soldered onto the board so if you can solder you should be able to reattach it. Here's the link to the site I found a diagram showing it opened up: fccid.io/2AMTQ3620ATARI/Internal-Photos/Internal-Photos-3588645 . Hope this helps you figure it out.

@@benrlego thanx for getting back with me. Based.on the photos in that link, the wire I was talking about is around the antenna. So now I'm thinking it may be a booster for the wireless controllers. I'm not sure tho because it isn't shown in those diagrams. Peculiar. I'm getting power to the strip board, and the main board, but I'm not sure I'm getting enough because I cant find anything about the 8 online. I'd be willing to bet it's not enough because it's only about 0.204v. The LED power indicator is more than that at 3.5v or so. What do you think?

@@tank8285 Do you have wired controllers to test with? It would be odd to me if a bad antenna cable would knock out the whole system because you don't need it to play. I also have doubts that 0.204v would be enough, I'd assume that the 8 also has a 5v power supply which would be way overkill if you needed less than a volt. Wish I had one of these too so I could have a closer look than those pics, that was the only teardown for the 8 specifically I could find online.

@@benrlego I have the wired paddles that came with the system, but no way to test them(I'm sure they ate fine). And because I have no video/audio signal, I have no way to test the wires vs wireless controllers. I'm with you on the antenna theory. Would it help you help me if I sent pics?

      @@benrlego oh, and it is a 5v 2a system.
