@@j_freed yes, I play in E flat tuning instead of standard tuning. So when I go down to "drop D" its actually drop c# for me. I love that tone on a strat. Hell even a whole step down from standard tuning is addictive to play. Listen to Clapton play voodoo Chile with that tuning. It is just unreal.
I love how the bottom line for you is the music, the gear you use and the sounds you create, nothing flashy, everything simply working as it should. thank you
@@MatthewScottmusic How do you manage the volume ? I have a Fender Bassman 50w from 64 with 212 cab and I barely pass through 3.5/10 with my band (indie instrumental rock). I use it clear though.
@@thisisjtom If you want a cranked amp, but at reasonable volume through a real cab, check out the Fryette Power station. It drops any cranked amp to line level and then re-amp's it with it's own onboard 50/100w tube amp! If you just want a great budget option to use headphones/recording get a Suhr reactive load + IR's. They also sell a model with built in IR loading.
@@wootks I have a TTwo Notes Torpedo Captor which is -20dB. It works great and is a very useful tool (DI, loadbox, attenuator etc.). I was wondering how Matthew could manage his own volumes on such beasts he plays in each video. It must be freaking loud as hell !
I could listen to you just jamming away for hours man amazing guitar work the sound just touches my soul. I hope i get to be able to play like that one day
Matthew Scott i saw this video with goosebumps. I feel like i just listen a MASTERPIECE. The way you play some chords bending some string in the midle of that chord. I love all those notes coming from your fingers. Pure Talent.
That was a fantastic blues jam Matthew. Never stop letting your heart pour out of your guitars. Thank you for sharing YOUR gift of music with all of us.
Matthew, I like what you did. You mixed the acoustic guitar and the electric guitar together. Many people forget that in 28' or 29' the blues came out and was only on acoustic guitar. It shape the way music is today for all rock fans. Good seeing you getting to the roots of rock n roll🎸🎶
I get what you are saying but the Lindsay Buckingham Mac is hardly early Mac, it's the middle-of-the road, chart topping, mid-70s Mac (and nothing wrong with that!) Early Mac is the Peter Green, blues-dripping Mac! Check out th-cam.com/video/ivS5wjwGbn8/w-d-xo.html or th-cam.com/video/0yq-Fw7C26Y/w-d-xo.html for a wee taste.
@@dcaudwell Touché! Just an honest verbal snafu though. I’m very aware of Peter Green, Danny Kirwan, Christine ‘Perfect’, Bob Welch and so forth. Pretty sure this tuning is used on some of the “Buckingham-Nicks” album as well, though the memory is sketchy! Love Peter Greens Mac
@@mickeeteeze Nice! The Mac has great moments throughout all its various incarnations. Peter Green remains one of my top handful of guitar icons though and I still regret not quite being old enough to see him at his best.
OH MY GOD BROTHER !!!!! I just watched that short you did on Jimmy's Bold as Love. The chills I got, I mean damn brother. I have no idea why you don't have lots more subscribers. I love your channel. I love your content. You do realize you were born in the wrong era. I can see you at Woodstock on stage. Lol. Don't change anything about this channel. The stories behind these vintage guitars, the music you play, keep the videos coming brother. PEACE ✌
drop d with single coils is a perfect mix. it gives the guitar a nice deep rich sound to it.
Reminds me of Ty Tabor from King's X
Drop c# is a touch better 😂
@@therangersinger because that’s one lower isn’t it? 📻 🎸

Drop D or half step down tuning on Stratocasters just work so much better.
inspirational as usual.
a little jealous as usual.
thank you

Nothing flashy as he struts a 10 thousand dollar strat and a five thousand dollar acoustic not counting amps and pedals
That tone!!!
Amps just sound better when they are cranked like this ! Solid job mate
Got to crank them up! 🙌🏻✌🏻

Thanks Matthew. For another most enjoyable Jam. It all comes back to the Blues. When you feel it in your bones you know it’s right. ✌🏼
And feel it I do! ✌🏻👍🏻
Holy crap bro that was one of the coolest things I’ve ever heard and I don’t even listen to country
be needing some more of that !
I’m a fifty year picker and that sounded awesome
watching Matt’s videos on a rainy day hits different.
Awesome! We need more of that!!
I want this to be my alarm clock music.
Now this is some blues I can get behind
Hell yeah. Chris Stapleton vibes.
Stapleton has songs like these ? Can you give sum examples? 🙏
Hillbilly Blood, Whiskey Sunrise, Watch You Burn
The dove is a perfect rock acoustic
Wow. Outstanding
Thanks Mattew, old gear sounds incredibly great. I love your 59 Strat. Greetings from France, Love to everyone !
Always the best from you
Ol' Slow-Hand AxeMan - musical valium - nice one
Man, this reminded me of the TV show Renegade BIG time.
Got goosebumps from the tone. Great playing!
awesome!
That reminds me of "Wanted, Dead or Alive" ..... and that's a _good_ thing!
@The_Mathew_Scott Let me guess, I've won some sort of prize or freebie, and all I need to do is pay the tax and/or shipping? 😆😅🤣😆
Good stuff....Matt.
I was amazed to find out that one of Clapton's favorite rigs was the 70s Dual Showman
with JBLs. And you have one. Hard to find.
Got chills from that one.
Sitting at breakfast while on holidays in Thailand listening to this though ear buds. Great start to the day.
It's so good, you don't need drums or vocals. Definitely need more of these tones.
Like a Chris Whitley vibe--awesome.
Sounds like driving down a dusty road in your favorite old pickup or Jeep.
bigbang - welcome to the mountains - vibes!
I wanna play like you one day
My unstable mind just took a trip though time. Excellent jam!
Matt. Matty. Matthew. That Strat sounded AMAZING. Uugghhhhh
Would love to know a few of those licks. Within the first 2 minutes I’m already mind blown 🤯
This is the tone
So soulful! That princeton is just killer

Living next door to this guy …. Cant hear
myself playing
Loving that Princeton charm :)

Sounds massive!
This how I feel every time I pick up the tele
Cool!!!
man, I can only imagine what you would be capable of playing on a vintage ES 335/345/355, waiting for this day...
Matthew, could you please do a video showing us how you film your videos, and how you get these beautiful colours?
Sounds real good
Brilliant,I really look forward to your videos.
That's so so so good
Awesome Matthew , simply awesome.
I always think of Lindsay Buckingham with this type tuning/electric/acoustic mix. Early Mac. “The Chain” and all. 👍🏻🎸
I also got “the chain” vibes from this! I could jam or listen to this for hours!
@@mohamedtlass3842 Yea, it’s that ‘picking notes to slow backstrum drag’ on the dropped “D”. Has that VERY DISTINCT ring! Good stuff!!
