17:26 Ouch. I remember some conductors on the F saying the same thing ("71st Street"). Other than that, these videos are top notch. They remind me of the best of my old stomping grounds.
I lived in FH up until recently, and I always tried to take the LIRR in, as while the subway regularly screwed me over and got me in very late, LIRR was quite consistent and was generally a more relaxing ride. I was always off-peak travel, so only $5 with the cityticket. That's quite a bit to get for a $2 upcharge. Love the video, take care of yourself!
Pretty cool video! I always thought Forest Hills was a really nice place! And you know what? Now that I think about it, you're right! It does look like the UK! Also, I had no idea EMUs still ran to Hunters Point Avenue, and the fact that it was an M3 makes it even more special!
Another cool video, Tim. With all these LIRR trains. And awesome catch with 3 M3 trains towards the end of the video in Jamaica!!!!And they run shuttle trains that only run between Jamaica and Hunters Point Ave?? It is unusual to see 3 LIRR M3 sets all at the same time.
@@3985uprr true, yeah, I know your from around there, could u do a video tho riding #7 from Sayville, or somewhere around there to Hunterspoint Avenue, I'm from there and I really like that train but idk when I'm gonna be able to actually ride it
@@3985uprr Yeah, I guess, could you do a video riding #37 from Speonk to Hunterspoint Avenue, I really like that train but I don't know when I'm gonna get on it, but I'm from Sayville.
If you drank WATER then you wouldn’t get vertigo. With that said, excellent video. As far as people taking the LIRR, keep in mind that the Queens Blvd subway lines are slow and overcrowded. People save at least a half hour each way by taking the LIRR.
When you say Forest Hills your really talking about the Forest Hills Gardens. From the station south for about 1/2 a mile south 1/4 mile east and west of the station . It's a very exclusive neighborhood. You can only buy and sell your home through the Gardens Corp.. Forest Hills It's self is much larger and a working class neighbor. Across the square was, don't know about now, the Forest Hills Inn. A hotel. When I was a teen ager I sat on the station steps watching Judy Gardland drinking at the open air tables at the in. Two blocks east on the Gardens side is the Forest Hills tennis club and stadium. They used to hold the US Open tennis Tournament there but it became too small at 13,000 seats so they mover it to Flushing Meadows Arthur Ash stadium. I saw many shows in FHG stadium. I came home from the Navy one weekend and walking home from the subway I passed the stadium just as the Beatles lander in a helicopter. The scream of young girls was deafening.
To think they wanted to close this station at some point. Just like miles and miles of railways in England along with countless stations. There’s every chance of a reverse of fortune! We’re currently going through a programme to repair some of the damage done by the infamous “Reshaping of British Railways”, done by Dr Richard *spit spit* Beeching in the 1950s and 60s. The most recent is the project called “East West Rail” expected to open soon.
Tim, LIRR DM30AC's are in electric mode west of Jamaica and in diesel mode east of Jamaica, interesting, I wonder if they run DE30AC's west of Jamaica, I highly doubt it!!
Ha. I used to live right there at six Burns Street. Great neighborhood! Designed by Olmstead family, the same folks who designed Central Park, the campus at Columbia and countless other colleges and parks across the US and Canada. I used to catch the 6:19 train.
4:12 Good to see the M3s on the mainline. 5:21 Nice drag race there. 21:09 Definitely a bit of echo there. 26:53 Nice stopping echo effect there. Also at 33:19/34:08 39:49 Yes, that area is very expensive. Sort of explains why the folks there would prefer the much smoother, quieter commute on the LIRR into Manhattan over the subway. 45:32 Woah! That third rail sparking was awesome. Love all the M3 footage in this! As always, excellent work, Tim! Thank you for seeking those echos. It's good to know that you like them as well. 71st Street Continental Avenue
absolutely beautiful. lets be honest, the M9 sounds like a WMATA 7000 series on steroids
A railfan's delight!! Rush hour action! And a delightful English village surrounding the station. Thanks Tim😀😀👍👍👌👌

Nice. LIRR AM rush must be one heck of a show.
Great job. Next is Woodside, including the Port Washington trains.
Perhaps. They don’t go as fast there.
I’m loving your LIRR stations “tour” Forest Hills is one of the best.
Thanks for the great video! I love watching those position light signals change when the trains rush by.
Has to be a Hefty Smell of Ozone happening at Jamaica Station...All those 3rd Rail sparks....😅

Loved your video I was just there last week love trains wish I could of saw you
I lived in forest hills for 10 years. I always took the LIRR. Was worth every penny. It was also so much faster for me.
15 minutes to Penn Station in midtown baby!
Great job and Ilove it👍

There were echoes.

43:25 That's the same exact set I rode from Oyster Bay to Jamaica today! That train did 559 from Oyster Bay!
Great Video!!!
Brilliant video I am new subscriber to your channel
I hope you enjoy my channel
@3985uprr yeah I enjoy I like American trains
47 minutes of LIRR goodness. Don't overdo it, my friend.
I get what I can get no matter how much or how little it is
I use to operate those 80’s LIRR commuter trains on Train Sim World, I figured they had retired those trains.
PRR 1223 still exists. It's at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania. It masqueraded as the 1600 (actually a G5) in the movie, "Broadway Limited."
Great video 😊
Lived here and 9/10 nobody ever checked my ticket. Now with the peak city ticket no reason to take the E or the R
Do you have any idea if the LIRR plans on FINALLY doing something about the windows on the M7's? They gotta be changed out or something
Probably not they don't have the cash
@carlossanchez-kz4wh they can hire me right now I'll scrub those windows clean with whatever the solution is to correct it lol
What caused that?
It’s a slow process
@@ariesarethebest271 the type of glass they used and the exposure to the sun on the south side of the drain

Forest Hills looks like quite the place. I definitely felt like I was thousands of miles away from New York City in that one area
Did u get any horns from the engineers this morning
None

They do run DE30ACs west of Jamaica to Hunterspoint Ave and Long Island City
@@robertcantore330 Oh ok, got it!!
Well, on the H’Point Ave., Long Island City trains they do. Sometimes they get stuck and they have to run a diesel to Penn Station.
Why do the m7s and m9s have such distinct sounds?
This station was featured in GTA IV
The subway fare is $2.90.
I’m confusing it with the Path fare. As a senior citizen I don’t pay $2.90, but still!!!!?

5:19 train from home
@@3985uprr Not bad. Thought you'd have to leave out even earlier than that.
Ive always wondered, with the trains that come by like this @ 9:12 , is it the locomotive in the back pushing the train?
Yes. And the first cab car has controls and engineer's cab to control the train.
2:26 $2.90 now
