- how to service the variomatic / exchange the belt
pretty easy, just 2 things to be carefull:
1) the screw above the oilpump cog wheel, use the SHORT one, the long one blocks the cog wheel
2) before tigthening the v belt pulley, squeeze the belt into the clutch / driven pulley, then block it, then the you can properly put the v belt pulley onto the crankshaft stump, so the thick washer sits on the toothing of the stump
AC = air cooled
LC = liquid cooled
rest is easy peasy
i liked this setup, near to original status:
- original exhaust no cat
- dayco 834x22 kevlar
- malossi cvt
- 14,5gr 19!!x17mm rollers PIAGGIO not malossi they are always damaged very fast, just adjust the weight by sandoapering the metal inside the rollers
- outer cvt disc, 0,5mm distanced to the outside
- intake area flowed
- cyl foot removes, which blocks the intake
- exhaust port widened a bit, but original timings
- air filter box optimized with malossi soonge and additional small intake tubes in the top back
- boyesen reeds
- mikuni 180 carb of the early runners
its oval, and has a bigger area at low slide openings = more power
- sebac fork
- bitubo shock at the back
- best tyres of course ;)
- 250mm oversize disk at the front
give DR PULLEYs a go, with the original cvt, cause watch this:
• PULLEYs faster than MA...
Never tried pulleys in a runner.

Very amazing video and so helpful thanks!!!!! And one question bro on my 180 runner the carburetor is leaking fuel non stop from the overflow hose and I lose even more fuel than runner drinks 😂 could that be a stuck floater?

How strong is that impact wrench? Is 100nm too much for the multivar bolt?
Hi i just bought the malossi cvt but the teeth of the backplate is not in the correct grooves i believe, did u use the spacer wich was in de box?
was there a spacer? I forgot.. Sry

Are the whatshers bigger than the hole by the coolfin back? The two you put first near by the belt i was always thinking That ther must be a ring whatsher thats fall in the back of the coolfin vario side you now What in mean?

U mean if the two additional thin washers hurt the belt? dont think so. And if a tiny bit, the fun is worth it!

Nice video! I have a question. Why do my clutch pads keep getting polished and my scooter gets jerky when I accelerate? I have to use sandpaper on the pads every few hundred kilometers. Why is this constantly happening? I used to have a gilera vxr 200 and this never happened but on my piaggio x8 it's killing me.
must be a x8 special issue? weak clutch bell.
@@FreakMoPed8 it's a x8 150 street... I guess this model is prone to clutch problems.
Your clutch is slipping, buy a race clutch bell, more grip
@@oesamajeb3148 a race clutch bell doesnt make any grip lol. It's just a cover the for the clutch.
Get a pm tuning adjustable clutch. Comes with clutch springs aswell. Also get a malossi variator. Big difference in acceleration and top speed

u can experiment with distancing the outer disc, with washers on the inside yes
You can add washers so belt is lower on the variator but know you will probably lose belt travel when variator is fully open and high speeds will be more revvy. Original Config is 1mm washer behind pulley then 0.5mm infront of pulley then kickstart cog.
