@@mtha7796 elephant sanctuaries aren’t really a thing in the UK! We do have some zoos though :)

@@austin.and.millie Because horses are native to your region and elephants are native to this region and this is part of our culture. There are horse racing in your country, right? Isn't it supposed to be in the forest?

@@mtha7796 i see. are you saying that it is ethical to ride elephants? there is a lot of evidence to prove that otherwise. whereas it is scientifically proven that horses not only enjoy being ridden but that it is actually good for their physical and mental health to be ridden. horses that are involved in horse racing in the UK are very well treated. it’s not something i tend to involve myself in however, i have never been to the races before and probably never will as it doesn’t interest me. i suppose what im trying to say is that regardless of culture, elephants shouldn’t be ridden, especially not by tourists as it takes them away from their natural habitats. it can also cause a number of health problems for them such hurting their backs. it is well known that trainers often abuse them to perform for tourists. it wasn’t something we were willing to participate in. i hope that makes more sense. thank you for watching x

@@mtha7796 with all sports / tourist attractions regarding animals, there will always be a debate as to whether or not it is ethical. I’m not entirely sure why horse racing has been brought into this discussion as we have not once openly discussed it or supported it in any way, both on social media and in person. we did our own personal research on the ethics of elephant sanctuaries and felt that the best option was to visit a sanctuary that does not allow certain procedures that could be viewed as unethical or harmful to the elephants. we implore others to do their own research and choose a sanctuary accordingly. hope that makes sense, all the best to you.
