Great video, my daughter had a loan of a logic flail, for cutting thistles she was told by the owner not to drop it low on first cut and to just cut down in stages and it made a great job and left hardly any lumps 👍
Hi James + Josh + Lee, Great fun and all three grass toppers are good in there own field ( pun ) grassland, meadow, paddock. Great machines, good cuts. Catch you soon Take care
Nice one Guys They all done the job machines for all users have found slow and steady works best for using a flail need to get are winton verge mower out to cut in the ditches been using a Major cyclone for most of are topping / jungle clearing jobs not quite the same finish as a flail but no belts to burn😀😀 out Thanks again
I have an old foster tl 7 pasture topper on an even older International 584. I have cut thick rushes with it that were up to the bonnet. First gear sharpen the blades take your time no problems
Another great video, thank you. We have a Del Morino flail - absolutely brilliant, great height adjustnent and amazing cut. Well worth tapping up for next demo
If someone said I had to drive that Fendt over that kind of stuff every work day for the rest of my life I would be delighted! I like all of those actually, that I bet that quad bike setup would have been good for the industrial sites I used to cut as it has a nice low centre of gravity for those steep sides and enough power to blend up all the stuff you find on them including the litter and whatnot. That side shift on the other one will certainly come in handy, that function certainly saved me a lot of time/faffing around on my old forklift.
The problem with the Winton is that there isn't enough of a gap behind to get rid of the material, I have a chapman atv flail and I had to take the guard off the back and it's performance was way better
Interesting trail but horses for courses, a comparison between the flail and rotary would of been good to see. I use a McConnell topper 9 9ft cut rotory topper and cut acres of rushes like in the video.
Here in Galway in 1985 topping high thistles for a neighbour with my John deere 2850 and major 9ft topper, I hit a dead sheep. I still have that smell up my nose.
Ladies and gentlemen, I think we've found worthy successors to Top Gear/Grand Tour 🙂 Great video. Bet Harry and Jeremy will be fans of this channel soon.
what quadbike was pulling that topper? wondering if my Honda 250 could pull the topper. The hitch in on the rear axle so I'm not sure last time it pulled a 10ft sailboat downhill. The field is an 2 to 1 acres I'm unsure but the field is on a 25 to 30 degree angle.
This was a Suzuki 500 auto. A 250 wouldn’t be big enough for a flail I wouldn’t say. Maybe on flat ground, but flail would be heavy and push you down hill and you would need 4 wheel drive up hill.
Thanks Al 👍🏼 That could have been one of the older versions with a centrifugal clutch, where now they are designed to stall rather then over cook the belts.
Can anyone help me with this I run a 630 spearhead topper and it’s not very reliable and looking for something else it doesn’t have to be 6 metres but just seen a razor back on here but don’t know what they are like. Can anyone give me some advice.
The banter is off the chart! Throughly entertaining video!
Hahaha, thanks dude 🤦🏻♂️
Definitely the best example on here comparing flail mowers. Thank you 👏💪👍
This is very top gear like layout wise. Great vid
So it is haha. Just smaller budget 😂😉
Great content, had me in stitches and some excellent machinery

We've got the Chapman FM150 pro flail, sit nice between all these.
It's never let's us down yet,beast.

Ideal Darran, how’s the Winton verge topper? I would love to try one of them.
@@MachineryNation It's a good bit of kit if works fully of set and use as a Heage flail if your brave enough 😀😀

Great video, thanks
Thank you Patrick 👍🏼
A very good Thursday evening to you all from Wellington Somerset
Fendt 724 is a nice allrounder 👌🏼 Mulching looked awesome 💪🏼 TMC and Berti are some heavy mulcher with quality❤
Interesting one team one way of getting your grass cut. Something for everyone needs.

It is such a beautiful tractor. And I still haven’t driven a Fendt 🤦🏻♂️😂
Liking that you are telling prices 👍
Deep pockets but short arms 🤣🤣 great video lads ! Lee saving the day bringing in the big guns 👊🏻🤣
The man proving he watched to the end 👌🏽 he saved the day 💪🏽
@@MachineryNation no point in just watching a bit of it 🤷♂️ great vid lads
@@theowebsterelectricalservices thanks mate. Appreciate it 👍🏼
Ye are like the top gear of farming......... but better !! 😂👌❤
More like ‘choose a gear any gear’ haha
Great video keep it up 👍🏻
Thank you 🤩
Old school when topping for cattle and sheep is the old long match box side ways for sheep straight up and down for cattle
I have the wessex version of the logic using y type flails. It would be interesting to see if they were any better in the rushes
I always prefer a rotary topper goes through heavy rushes fine aslong as you have good shear bolts 😅
Yeah we used a Winton for Rushes earlier in the year, worked great 👍🏼
The problem with the Winton is that there isn't enough of a gap behind to get rid of the material, I have a chapman atv flail and I had to take the guard off the back and it's performance was way better
Yeah 100% We mention this at the end.
Nice fendt
Beautiful tractor!

I'll stick to my URS 100, it's just fun xD great video
Bet max was all over that fendt 😂 😅
He loved it Ant, proper Fendt fan lol

This a perfect blend of Clarkson’s farm and Top Gear 😂
@@nickhosegood9700 hahaha
Did you know James, theres always Logic when buying a topper 😂😂😂😂

Cracking video lads all I keep saying now is whale tail flail 🤣🤣
Leave the sheep back into that field now, they would love that fresh cut stuff, middle topper is good value for money I think
We had a logic flail, rushes were hard work for it as you’ve found out. Burning belts off was the biggest issue we had
Thanks Al 👍🏼 That could have been one of the older versions with a centrifugal clutch, where now they are designed to stall rather then over cook the belts.
@@MachineryNation quite possibly. Didn’t know they’d made changes. Good wee machines for paddocks and foot paths
Do you know what ye need to do guys how to measure and cut a new pto shaft video
We can do 👍🏼
Have the smallest Winton flail mower, and use it with a Yanmar 16bhp tractor.
Nice, how do you get on?
Obviously need a few passes on heavy growth, but fine on shorter grass and weeds.
Come on James. Im disappointed with the Fendt outfit. I was expecting a rear flail as well
I tell you what, Devonian Top Gear is off to a flier.
Hahaha, more like ‘bottom cog’ I recon lol
@@MachineryNationI thought you might not like being called Low Range!

The temptation is to copy top gear. Top gear is a dead donkey. Be unique
i own a tractor thats over 500 hp
need a bigger tractor its small
