“Playing Days” card of Mr. Lincoln 😂😂😂 Reminds me of Chris’s other clever joke about saying that the model he was working with was not up to scale , or built to scale, a Back To The Future reference, in a prior video
One thing that always sticks out to me on high grade vintage is that they are usually in the older PSA slabs. Have to think most of those would be graded much harsher in today's standards.
The McKinley is a non sport holy grail. It was the missing card from the set. Had to send in for it, the holes are punched from the company. They kept it out of the set so people would keep buying products.
yeah, but PSA said it's a 10 so it's obviously very different than the endless pile of commons that are the same, sans a centimeter of framing the image. It's silly. If people want to do that, it's on them.
Chris, Life long Chicagoan. Walter's autograph was actually pretty easy to get. If you ran into him. He would always sign. Think I have 3 or 4 things signed by him. Just like Ernie Banks. Would always would sign. I think you meant his autograph is rare on a card. Peace and love
@@marcamy If your a set builder, some will pay big money for cards like that. That years cards were hard to get in high grades even comming out of the packs.....there had to be to big pocket guys who really wanted it.....I got a banged up copy they can get much cheaper!!
It’s refreshing to see a recently graded PSA 10 slab (‘59 Topps Mantle). Many of the PSA 10s sold are in old slabs and wouldn’t grade “near mint to mint” (8) today & that’s if the cards aren’t trimmed. The $30k for the 75 Topps common player is mind numbing. I found the ‘52 Topps set w/ a PSA 8oc Mantle vs a single PSA 7 Mantle lot interesting. If I had the money, would have went w/ the set if the cards looked good upon close inspection. the Babe Ruth is my favorite
This is exactly why I don't understand people selling their complete graded sets in one single lot. You aren't getting even close to value doing it that way.
In general people like to build sets , not buy them. So you are right . But heirs and people who want a quick sale will sell as a set . Don’t have time to do it individually .
@bryanl3659 normally I'd agree, but in this case, it wouldn't take longer as you can do them individually either all in 1 auction or even 2 or 3 with no extra work for the seller. You send them to the auction house and say do individually 🤷♂️
Think how long it takes to sell singles of a set compared to the set itself. If you’re still making money selling the set is completely legit, specially you get what you want and can go out right away and get something else.
Chris your a high roller. I'm meaning that your page and how you run your business is top of the line. Could you come and me up to go to the Chantily card show. I would give you a "crisp high five".
I have been following the 2003-04 Exquisite Collection since it came out 20 years ago and and don’t throw out the term expert loosely. But, in this circumstance I have to speak up as an expert. The Reggie Miller is 100% shilled. A PSA 10 went for $3,000 in March this year and 9s sell for around $2,000. At best that card is $1,700 in my humble opinion. The Carmelo Exquisite is also shilled. I own some 2003-04 Carmelo Exquisite cards so as much as I would like this $12,000 sale to be real… it’s not. This rookie card of his typically goes for $2,500 - $4,000 ish depending on condition. During the COVID boom this would be a realistic price and maybe 3-5 years from now but not right now. I would also say the Exquisite Foursomes of the main 4 rookies in that class was shilled although less than the other two. I would still say that’s a $10,000+ card even. At some point it was over $20,000, again, during COVID.
4:45 It's more like "Laughing all the way to the Bank!!" Time for the Seller 😮 That has to be the MOST generic 5-Digit card ever sold ! For some ppl money must REALLY grow on trees 😵
The McKinley was a short print and getting it along with the entire set of 25-30 was redeemable for some other item... so that card had been redeemed and canceled...
Chris, I’m having a difficult time remembering which 2003 Chrome Lebron parallel you have. X-fractor /200? I would love to see an updated safety deposit box video one of these days. I’m also curious if you plan to ever sell the Lebron, maybe when he retires or gets inducted.
I'm 75 years old and and have been in this so-called "hobby" since I bought my first pack of cards in 1958...all I can say is "who is buying these cards at these prices?"
Now if I would have put my pack-pulled ‘59 Mantle in a penny sleeve and top loader back in the day and held for 65 years, maybe my 5 cent investment would be worth $300k now. (Less grading fee.) Nope, played with mine. BTW in joining CIA what references can I provide? Not registered at any other auction houses, just eBay. What else is valid? Can I use your name? 😅
The 1932 caramel President set have all the presidents on cards up to newly elected Franklin Roosevelt in it... but they neglected to make the Garfield card . I guess because customers complained that the card was missing they made the card available to people that wrote in and requested it but because it wasn't a regular card it was Marked with a canceled stamp or stapled into the envelope much like the 33 goudey Nap Lajoie card was. Very few card were ever made, or survived. If you had one without damage...it's worth.huge money....even in poor condition!
Chris-Reggie Miller?! This Knicks fan might have to cancel his subscription. (Just kidding) That ‘68 set, and the fact that there is one better, is bonkers. For those of us used to handling well-loved ‘68’s it’s difficult to imagine any of them ever being PSA 10’s, let alone a near complete set.
PSA used to grade a lot easier. If they re-graded the set it would probably average out a 7 or 8. The difference in centering between the Mantle and the card next to it is severe but they are both 10's
I love the “that’s a playing days card of Mr. Lincoln” line haha. Great video!
I lost it at that line too. Hilarious
Spot on sir
Best line
Could even say an XRC as it's 1 year prior to his presidency. 😂
“Playing Days” card of Mr. Lincoln 😂😂😂

I loved the hilarious realization of that being an "Honest Abe" playing days card!
One thing that always sticks out to me on high grade vintage is that they are usually in the older PSA slabs. Have to think most of those would be graded much harsher in today's standards.
Agreed
Which is why when you see one like the 59 Mantle, it goes for big money.
All those mantles are beautiful....wish I could buy those
The McKinley is a non sport holy grail. It was the missing card from the set. Had to send in for it, the holes are punched from the company. They kept it out of the set so people would keep buying products.
Thanks for that! I did not know.
Just fabulous all around. Thanks Chris! All on my wish list! Lol😉
30,000 dollars for a gem mint 10 common 1975 Topps Doug Rau is nuts in my opinion..
yeah, but PSA said it's a 10 so it's obviously very different than the endless pile of commons that are the same, sans a centimeter of framing the image. It's silly. If people want to do that, it's on them.
Wow! I’m still keeping both kidneys. Kudos to your research department, Chris. Hope Chantilly is successful for you.

There is nothing that can justify a "fool and his money are soon departed", to spend 30k on a common player card, just for its PSA 10 label.
@@marcamy If your a set builder, some will pay big money for cards like that. That years cards were hard to get in high grades even comming out of the packs.....there had to be to big pocket guys who really wanted it.....I got a banged up copy they can get much cheaper!!
It’s for set registry. Imagine you have rivals and in one fell swoop you step on all their necks.

Love high rollers The 52 set struck me as a great value for buyer
That last honorable mention is crazy, I wonder if anyone ever asked Lincoln to sign a card. Always love those weird non-tcg/non-sportscards.

Somebody already commented but yeah that McKinley was a SP. Lincoln is also considered his rookie if nonsport cards have that
That patch with the 4 rookies is a steal
That lebron is way oc on the back. Makes a mockery of the psa 10 premium.
Great content as always regardless
That first card needs its own video.🔥🔥🔥
Would love for PSA to explain what kept that 1959 Mantle from being a 10. Can’t imagine the card looking any better.
Lincoln playing Days card. Good one.
Maybe it's just me, but I prefer regular rollers to high rollers

Surprised BBCE authenticated still has any premium.

Those UD Exquisite sales are completely fraudulent. Heritage is a scam site. They belong in prison.

Yes, you can use my channel as a reference, that will be plenty.
@@collectorinvestordealer how about on my mortgage application? you got any pull with Bank of America?
This is the most ridiculous episode I can remember since I began watching the “rollers” videos. WOW!!!
The Connor McDavid is not RPA. It’s just a patch auto from his rookie year.

Hey Chris, still have your Topps Chrome Lebron black refractor? Haven’t seen an update in a while on it.
I do still have it. Might be time for an update video
Hey Chris CID Hey! 👋
Playing days, automatic #1 ranked Lincoln master set. 😂
Chris-Reggie Miller?! This Knicks fan might have to cancel his subscription. (Just kidding)

4:36 Miller was your favorite player; which NBA team was your favorite/the one you rooted for?
Likely some history buffs bid the McKinley upto 21k.
The 59 Mantle looks much better than the 57 Mantle, 57 is off-center, slight slant cut, probably wouldn't grade a 9 if submitted today.
Good call on the slant cut
Playing days LINCOLN!
384 for babe rookie? That's very strange should be like 3.8
I choose to believe that is babes ghost.
What will happen to LeBron's cards when all the names from Diddy's parties come out...
They will triple
Lincohn's " playing days card' laugher! McKinnley's card had to be pulled from the set.....
Wonder if Geoff Wilson bought the gold LeBron. He's working on the LBJ Rainbow
he bought it in 2020 for 3 million
How the heck is that Larry Doby a PSA 8 when I have sent FAR better cards in that get a PSA 3.5 or lower??? It is such a SCAM.
Yes I agree..but you must take into consideration that it’s in an older slab..in todays PSA grading it’s not an 8
