Plus Amish don’t really have anything to rob that someone just wandering in the area would want and unfortunately if the Elders deal with the crime Within them this is horrible but think may be from someone they know
Last time this happened the Amish man was having an affair with a taxi driver. He went on a hunting trip while his lover came and shot his wife with all their children in the home so yeah it happens.
Did you see the story about entire Mennonite families that were being drugged with veterinary gas and r_ped repeatedly by a group of men in their community? Look up the Bolivian Mennonites. It is a crazy story (Mennonites are an off-shoot of the Amish).
It’s rampant thru the Amish community. I think it’s like 1 in 3 girls and women will be SA and/or r/aped. Usually it starts with father on daughter, brother on sister. And if the victim does go to the head of church they are usually victim blamed, made to ask for forgiveness and all that crap and made to pray for their attacker and move on and act like nothing has happened. The majority of the Amish community are just sick ass people
@@jordyb57Some communities normalize abuse far more than others. So it’s more prominent in other communities. Just because it happens in all communities doesn’t mean that the abuse and violence rates are equal
There was a story of an Amish man who was married with children. And he had somehow access to dating sites. And he started having an affair with a Mennonite woman. Along with many other women. And he talked one woman into killing his wife. She had a car and she drove to an area that would conceal her car. She parked and walked a good distance to the home and shot his wife. They almost got away with it too. Also, they do have guns in order to shoot for food or prey protection.

Nancy, it's really sad to see how much losing your fiance hurts you still today and I understand you are married now, but that doesn't mean that you are not always gonna feel emotions over it and be sad.I just have been noticing that recently you've been bringing him up a bit more and I hope you are doing OK 😢😢😢❤.
I’ve noticed that too. She gets very emotional about that, as well as her twins, whenever anything involves children. She’s a savage when it comes to children. Sadly, I’m sure many of us can relate due to our own experiences. One can go through some very difficult and tragic experiences, when much younger, and things don’t always completely smack someone in the face until many years later. It can be therapeutic to finally express feelings about something very painful to one’s heart. Yes, she seems happily married BUT…this is still something very sad and tragic that she experienced and no one can take that away. It calls for sympathy/empathy…feeling compassion and sorrow and…if we can’t relate…we still try to put ourselves in the shoes of others. Nancy deals with it but she’s just never going to completely heal from it. It genuinely shattered her heart and took many years to marry and have children. We understand.
You never get over the trauma of someone being murdered. When your young you dream of what your first relationship will be, picture perfect. Then someone turns that into a nightmare. I survived a murder suicide in 2004 and am still traumatized over it. Not to mention my ptsd.
Also, the Amish aren’t always so humble. In Ohio, they are the largest contributors of the puppy mill problem. Domestic violence is never reported and if it is, the church punishes the victims of it. Even if an Amish guy did this, the church would keep it secret and “handle” it among themselves.
Suspect arrested. Shawn Cranston, 52-year-old man from Corry, Pennsylvania. By looking at his mug shot, it appears that he was not a member of the Amish community.
Everyone in the animal rescue community knows that the Amish don’t treat their animals well. (Puppy mills and abused working horses most common). To me if you can abuse animals, you can hurt people.
My Yorkie came from an Amish puppy mill. Poor thing was caged for 5yrs along with 80 others in barns. Sold her puppies for 3k. She was abused and is scared of the world. 😢
That is a ridiculous statement. I have lived in a amish community. They are like everyone else and likely not as bad as non amish community people. @@theoriginalkrabbypatty

There is no shortage of abusive men in the Amish community. In fact, I’m surprised when I hear an Amish man is a good husband and father. I live in Amish country, the horror stories are endless.
Agreed! I live near here. Lived among Amish my whole life. They are abusive to their wives , children and animals. Yes there are good ones but the bad ones are hidden by the community, that is the scary part.
@@thehattersmadness1957 definitely, it’s hard to be good when you’re raised by bad men. I know good Amish men too, at least they seem good on the outside. No idea what happens behind closed doors. But there are many people who left the community at a young age who have written books in the area I live in, they also tell their stories in general to people and the stories kinda spread in a small town. Where I live, the horses are skinny as a rail and it’s hard to watch. Lots of Amish children are hit and killed on the road because they all walk home after school on very dangerous back roads etc. it’s really sad, especially because it’s so preventable.
My mother was Amish before she was married to my dad. There fore my dad wasn't Amish. They were shunned. They don't have their photos taken or any of the modern appliances. The children must be really young and could not talk.
I grew up a few miles from Spartansburg. My Dad is from there, & there are still a number of family who live there. My Dad, after he retired, was a taxi service to the Amish, because they don't have cars. This is a close knit town & area. There are fund raisers, & aid for the family. I heard the husband doesn't want to go back to live in the house. The two little kids were in the house. I also heard there was a red Jeep parked in the drive & was seen driving up & down the road. This is a road that not many cars are driving on, so it would be noticed. It's so tragic. Hope the killer is found soon, because the people there are afraid.
When my brother was alive he spent a significant time working on the arm amish farms out in Pennsylvania. Most of the people on this are very God loving people. Very good people. But there are ones that are amongst any group of people that are bad and hide that for fear of being shunned. And as for the red Jeep there would be views on cameras right outside of their areas at the cities. Because it had to come from one direction or the other. And periodically they do take in strangers people if they abide by their rules. And allow them to work for food and shelter while they're there. So that is another thing to look at.
I live in the State of Michigan & we have a lot of Amish People & Amish Families & The Amish Community throughout Our State. I love to see them around. Infact , when my Mother was alive & many years ago my Mother had some Amish People come to her house & they built a beautiful Shed for her. They did a beautiful Job too.
We have Mennonites who live in Fenelon Falls,On. an hour north of where I live,in Whitby. I used to live up there, and they had trucks, and cars, and horse and buggies too,but no electricity. They also had a store at the beginning of their homes, where they sold baked goods, furniture, and other things. Just beautiful. Gayle.
A Pennsylvania man was arrested Saturday and charged with the slaying of a pregnant Amish woman whose body was found last week. Shawn C. Cranston, 52, of Corry, has been charged with criminal homicide, criminal homicide of an unborn child, burglary and criminal trespass, Pennsylvania State Police said. He was denied bail at a preliminary arraignment early Saturday morning and is being held at the Crawford County jail. Online court records show a preliminary hearing has been scheduled for March 15; they do not list a defense attorney.
Kay Alana……. Nancy!! Hope you’ll see this comment but there is a girl by the name of Kay Alana from Houston Tx who disappeared under very suspicious circumstances and the police refused to search for her since she had a warrant. She has been missing for one year and still has not been found. Please consider seeing if you can help out her family
Who kills the mother of his children, leaves her bloody body there for his two babies to suffer and cry over unless he is an absolute monster? These people are raised to love God. Even if they had a fight and he killed her out of anger, I find it extremely difficult to believe that he would leave his babies in the house with their dead mother for how long?
The fact that she left the person in the house doesn’t necessarily mean she knew them, this is how trusting the Amish people are. I live in the Amish community and know many of them, that is why I say that.
Actually it does bc the Amish aren't just letting you come to their home. It's one thing to visit, drive thru, buy some furniture and soap. It's completely different when you're talking about being in their homes. That lady would have been exiled if they found an outsider in her home after she voluntarily let them in.
Don’t assume this early in the case that the husband never done it. Just cause they’re Amish means nothing…. Cause they are human. Anyone can suddenly snap and do bad horrible things. RIP and condolences to the family
They are people just like the rest of us. They have a high rate of abuse and incest in their communities, it’s all just hidden by their secretive communities. They also are widely known to be animal abusers, and commonly neglect their animals too. They aren’t Saints.
I believe this was domestic... And having no phones, no cameras, no way to track anyone coming in or out... It's not going to be easy unless they have DNA or find the weapon...
They’ve arrested 3 people in connection with this case. I live in the area. Should be on the news by tomorrow sometime. It’s very sad and depressing. I know people who live on Fish Flats Road and the people arrested as well. Our town is very small. Only around 6K people, so everyone knows everyone or knows someone who knows them.
These people are very private and just want to be left alone! It’s despicable that someone would interfere with her day at home like this! It’s sad that you have to lock your doors no matter where you live!
The communities are not all they are cracked up to be publicly. There is a lot of incest, abuse, etc but the Amish elders “handle” it all and it’s kept quiet. They also are widely known to be animal abusers. They are people just like the rest of society but their crimes just stay secret. Don’t be so naive.
Thanks for doing this story i am from a little town called Dillsburg Pennsylvania wich is between Harrisburg and York. What sick mental case would do something like that they are mostly very nice people they don't bother any one. 😢
I lived in Philly and it shook the region. The Amish wrapped their arms around the killers wife and kids to protect them. Killers family considered moving but they stayed because Amish forgave them and wanted them to stay so they could be helped get thru that terrible trauma. What incredible Christian love.
Hearbreaking!!! Thank yoy, Nancy for your attention to this case. I lived in Indiana, and saw buggies like this as a kid 60 years ago. They sold vegetables, and had the most radiant skin. Sweet people!
I used to live in Hopkinsville, Ky. Amish territory. It wasnt unusual for the husband to have a cell phone especially if he had a business on his property. And they didnt drive but they could pay someone to take them somewhere.
The Amish dont bother anyone... You should never hear a story about them being killed... that let you know that we are in the end times. And the devil is loose everywhere.
Actually there is a lot of bad in the communities, it’s just handled by the men in charge and society never hears about it. Lots of incest, abuse, horrible animal abuse and neglect, etc.
I feel like it’s probably the husband. You can’t tell me that if there was an outsider coming down the road they don’t know, they wouldn’t take care of them.
In that area, that car driving by is highly likely to be a local resident, not a tourist. Yes high Amish population, but plenty of non Amish residents as well.

I hate to say it but incest(esp. Brotherly) is quite common
I live in Mennonite country,
in Ont. Canada. You are
correct about incest.
Ick.
Just because someone belongs to a group or a religious group does not mean that they can’t abuse or murder.
True, very common in these cults.
That's why a lot of their babies have big heads
Nancy always has to make it about her. Like get over yourself.
You never get over the trauma of someone being murdered. When your young you dream of what your first relationship will be, picture perfect. Then someone turns that into a nightmare. I survived a murder suicide in 2004 and am still traumatized over it. Not to mention my ptsd.
@David-ut1xj no she didn't, she is relating her trauma and so you know, that's a way of healing through her trauma so miss me with that crap!!!
@@MizzTracy I'm sorry to hear that, I hope one day the pain is less and you are able to live a full life again ❤️
Also, the Amish aren’t always so humble. In Ohio, they are the largest contributors of the puppy mill problem. Domestic violence is never reported and if it is, the church punishes the victims of it. Even if an Amish guy did this, the church would keep it secret and “handle” it among themselves.
Yep that’s what they do.

Sociopaths abuse animals and move on to people.
Totally agree 💯
They’re HORRIBLE people!!
Thanks for having me on Nancy! 🎉
A 52 yr old man has been arrested.
There's too much going on. Too much violence. Sometimes I don't even want to bring this site up. No disrespect to Nancy Grace, but it is overwhelming me
Obviously, you need to step away from true crime. Its not for everyone.
You need to learn to set boundaries for yourself. If something is affecting your mental health, you remove yourself from it.
Its better to know what’s going on and feel overwhelmed than to feel like the world is all roses and peaches.
True crime keeps you alert and aware.
Trust no one is my motto
@@cassandra2685It’s better to have some awareness of the world without getting to the point that you’re overwhelmed wading through true crime videos
@@Maiden_to_mother agreed!
Absolutely ! Just because they’re Amish doesn’t make them immune to evil acts. Humans are evil, period !
@@thehattersmadness1957you mean, the community supports and protects abusive members?
My mother was Amish before she was married to my dad. There fore my dad wasn't Amish. They were shunned. They don't have their photos taken or any of the modern appliances. The children must be really young and could not talk.
Both were under 5
AN ARREST HAS BEEN MADE!!!! SHAWN CRANSTON FROM CORRY, PA
This is sad 😢praying for the family
Nancy, you are great at this. I appreciate your emotional involvement, reactions, comments, theories. You are wonderful ❤
Read the book Abandoned Prayers. Also woman killed in Holmes County Ohio by her husbands girlfriend.
Gayle.
It's most likely within the family. The Amish usually don't like for outsiders to come into their area.
Look within their own community
Kay Alana…….
Nancy!! Hope you’ll see this comment but there is a girl by the name of Kay Alana from Houston Tx who disappeared under very suspicious circumstances and the police refused to search for her since she had a warrant. She has been missing for one year and still has not been found. Please consider seeing if you can help out her family
I'm put off by him having a friend with him . He was home for lunch . Meal time is is always a family event . That to me is a red flag .
And it was a woman friend with him.

It's seems strange that the killer spared the children yet murdered the mother and unborn child maybe they didn't want this baby born
The fact that she left the person in the house doesn’t necessarily mean she knew them, this is how trusting the Amish people are. I live in the Amish community and know many of them, that is why I say that.
to outsiders? try again
Amish don't lock their doors.
Actually it does bc the Amish aren't just letting you come to their home. It's one thing to visit, drive thru, buy some furniture and soap. It's completely different when you're talking about being in their homes. That lady would have been exiled if they found an outsider in her home after she voluntarily let them in.
Exactly!
He broke in
Don’t assume this early in the case that the husband never done it. Just cause they’re Amish means nothing…. Cause they are human. Anyone can suddenly snap and do bad horrible things. RIP and condolences to the family
Ty very much for the update Nancy !!!
So much wickedness go around in these cults. Its a shame.

The Amish are wonderful people. This is heartbreaking!
I pray they find the one that did this!
They are people just like the rest of us. They have a high rate of abuse and incest in their communities, it’s all just hidden by their secretive communities. They also are widely known to be animal abusers, and commonly neglect their animals too. They aren’t Saints.
You are nuts. They are sicko people and abusers.
Just like any mystery, cops need to do the investigative work. Evidence on the body, in the home, and interviews. It takes some time in most cases.
Nancy Grace you are AMAZING THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO FOR THESE CASES!!
I’m actually very surprised the Amish called 911 to begin with.
For real. I thought they just bury them in the backyard?
@@TD-fq2qd I kind of thought that too.
The suspect who was arrested is from outside their community. They’ll want some justice for that.
Please stop with the awful stereotypes.
I believe this was domestic... And having no phones, no cameras, no way to track anyone coming in or out... It's not going to be easy unless they have DNA or find the weapon...
That's personal someone very close to this woman caused her demise. Her children will have no one . Pitiful.
The community will adopt the children. They normally live in family groups.

The Amish wrapped their arms around the killers wife and kids to protect them. Killers family considered moving but they stayed because Amish forgave them and wanted them to stay so they could be helped get thru that terrible trauma. What incredible Christian love.

I used to live in Hopkinsville, Ky. Amish territory. It wasnt unusual for the husband to have a cell phone especially if he had a business on his property. And they didnt drive but they could pay someone to take them somewhere.
Wow. These comments have opened up my eyes. Had no idea they do all these evil things.
Don’t get your belief system from comments… the Amish are good and wholesome people with, LIKE ALL COMMUNITIES, some bad people.
This is terrifying. I live right around the corner
The Amish dont bother anyone... You should never hear a story about them being killed... that let you know that we are in the end times. And the devil is loose everywhere.
Amen and amen.
Actually there is a lot of bad in the communities, it’s just handled by the men in charge and society never hears about it. Lots of incest, abuse, horrible animal abuse and neglect, etc.
Not true. Look up the high incidences of rape, molestation, inbreeding, and domestic violence within the community. They teach not to report things.
