  • She seemed like such a genuine and down to earth person. Suga was Exceptionally good in this one. It could have been a very difficult episode but he put himself out there for us. Very touching moment about her dog though... and I ended up sharing my story. It was such a surreal experience for me.

I really enjoyed your explanations on colloquialism translation. I think they always sound odd when we try to explain them but they add to the color/tone of communication. I really like her as an actress and I liked her authentic rapport with Yoongi. Thank you for sharing your dog/pet story; animals are so much a part of our family and having a thoughtful closing of life is important.

Yoongi is so clever and he is probably one of the best talk show hosts in the world. (I am not exaggerating) He is genuinely relaxed and comfortable talking about his inner self with no pretention or barriers. So the more he opens up the more his guests open up. It seems obvious but I am not seeing anyone else doing this like him. Great questions and great insight. Digging deep while still keeping it light is an art. If artists want to be seen and heard they need to get a spot on Suchwita!💜

Thanks for sharing about the funeral for your daughter's pet. You might want to listen to Jin's song Tonight that he wrote about the passing of his pets. What a good, caring and supportive father you were to honor your daughter's method of honoring her fur baby's memory.

John, I thought your comments about SUGA giving a master class in this episode were right on point. I noticed that he talked more than usual but didn't think through why he would do that. Thanks for explaining!!!
P.S. I was surprised at first that SUGA would choose to start an interview show, because when I watched interviews of BTS members, SUGA barely said a thing. For instance, on Stephen Colbert's show in 2018, Colbert asked where the BTS members wanted to be in 10 years and SUGA said "36" (he was 26 at the time) -- possibly the shortest answer Colbert has ever heard. It's so interesting to see SUGA in this new, more relaxed format.

I love that you take your time to explain Korean contexts for foreigners like me to better understand what's being said. Thank you John!💜

This was a very good episode. I felt like I’ve learned some new things about myself. Sometimes hearing someone else say that “It doesn’t matter “.

"I laughed so hard I lost my belly button" is the cutest saying. I like the idea of it. When I laugh a lot, I get hiccups because of my diaphram moving quickly (probably because of the heaving motion). I'd imagine that that saying comes from the idea that when you laugh really hard, you start to gasp for air and your belly moves in that heaving motion. Maybe the idea is that your belly moves so much it falls off and you lose it. That's my theory anyways. So cute and odd.

Actually more literal translation would be 'Belly button popping off' Not much better. Lol

Gosh so sorry to hear about your family pet's passing. The send off you guys did sounded beautiful. We don't have stuff like that in my country but it's nice that there's something so well thought out to help with the grieving process of pet owners. The marbles idea seems so pretty.

I'm sorry your family lost your beloved dog recently. I don't have any pets (just plants) so I don't know about pet funerals but I do know we have pet cemeteries in Colma, CA. Rituals help us bring closure to our feelings of loss. I am so touched that you and your wife supported your daughter's wishes in this situation. ❤‍🩹

im sorry for your loss. but how interesting, the marbles.. in some ways, your precious doggo is still with you all in some kind of physical form.. just a bit different. i never knew they did that sort of thing. i find it to be a nice sentiment for those who would like to keep a trace.
my biggest reluctance in getting a cat or dog of my own as a kid was my worry that i will not be able to handle it when they pass on eventually. theyre just pure and precious beings and i was a very sentimental kid (still am, just a little less so haha)
lee nayoung is very interesting and unqiue. i found it impressive that yoongi was able to keep a flow of natural conversation with her. he talked less when he needed to and talked more exactly when he needed to. he tried to keep the same tempo and rhythm by responding on unexpected ways when she responded in unexpected ways. i think the word is spontaneity lol

Ohh anju is such a nice way to call drinking treats. In my country we call them cutters. Technically you can eat them at any time and you can eat them with side/staples like a meal. But if you eat it on it's own with drinks then it's cutters. I think the name is to refer to a food that cuts through the alcohol. It's usually highly seasoned with spicy hot tastes. It usually makes strong alcohol seem less powerful in taste because of all of the competing tastes and heat from the food. We don't have a word for the food you eat before drinking though so that's interesting.

The thing about Korean Anju or Banju is that... there is almost no specific food that act as these. Almost any food can be Anju. And if you are eating it with rice and drining..then the whole action...of drinking.. not the food is called banju. I know it is a bit confusing.

I agree with your comments regarding his interview/host skills. He doesn't allow the convo to go quiet, or stale/awkward. If he sees she needs to think a bit about her answer to his question he quickly picks up on it and gives his opinion to kind of give her time or let her ease into it. I feel like he really makes people feel comfortable. I love that we get to see all these sides to him. From his acting to his hosting, to performing all on his own. Yoongi's truly proving to be a jack of all trades in the entertainment industry. So so proud of him!

You have to be able to be very quick to catch what the other is feeling and is capable of. He is very good. I was so impressed. This was a hard one. She often would not answer or respond in an unconventional way.

I didn’t know who this actress is. I do now. It was nice to see Suga interacting with a female guest. Thanks again for giving your perspective and sharing your knowledge about related things Korean.

7:34 the slippers are probably BT21 or TinyTan, which are official BTS goods..
