Rank system in Korea is very different from all other countries. They get recruited in three different ways. Enlist, NCO, and Officer. Enlists are basically ones who are in their mandatory 18~21 months (depending on a branch) service and go from private (one bar) to sergeant (four bars). So all those with SGT and CPL in the video had only been in army for 1 to 1 and 1/2 year. We have some NCO in the video (SSGs with chevron) they come in the army as SSG and after a year or two they will get promotion and become two chevron. So in a sense the one who stayed in the army the most is the captain (three diamonds) who probably did 3 years at least (he seems to be a company leader so probably 3 or 4th year).
In easy, anyone with bars is in their mandatory service and will leave the army after 18~21 months. (Some stays and continue as NCO but not usual)
With chevron, they are all NCOs. Koreans can choose to do their mandatory as NCO or officers but from here they are usually treated as actual occupation (doing this for living)
With diamonds, lower rank officers. Most officers end their careers here.
With bamboo leaves, high rank officers. You want to get at least two leaves to get a pension. Regiment leader has three.

That dudes an officer with some years in as an officer. Every retired and current NCO and CO told me not to do anything stupid and that for my first year in even as a CO I didn't have an opinion unless pressed for one even on simple matters. 10 years in as a CO and a promotion and another coming oh have times changed LOL

The first soldier shown, the PFC, is a private first class, which is the lowest rank and given to those who just started their mandatory enlistment.
