From the 20th century, I can warmly recommend these short-story and novel writers, just to mention a few from the many: Sadeq Hedayat (صادق هدایت، سه قطره خون); Bozorg Alavi (بزرگ علوی, چشمهای ); Simin Daneshvar (سیمین دانشور، شهری چون بهشت); if you feel ready to read a whole novel, you can read for example from M. Moadab Pour, who is a contemporary writer and whose novels are in colloquial style, easy to read as a learner of Persian too. His name: م.مودب پور and you can search for example for رکسانا
