I've been doing ub ziplok tek as I don't have a pressure cooker. My first time doing ub tek, went mss into ub bags. It took forever just for there to be visible signs of germinationI had almost all contamination except one that I dumped into a gallon ziplok bag. I fruited it right in the bag and I got the best fruits I've ever had. I regret not taking a clone to keep those genetics.. anyway , this time, I went mss into 4% honey and maple syrup. Took a week to grow the mycelium. Have 2 bags I injected ub bags and 4 that I dumped into gallon bags. I shoot the lc into the ub bag, taped it.. shook it good and dumped right into ziplok bag. It's been 5 days and everything is looking great. The 2 that I put in ub bags I did shake one and not the other and they're both just about done filling in the window on the bottom of the bag. Liquid culture is friggin amazing. I'll never not do it again. When I get nice fruit um just going to put a biopsy into honey water to clone it. I don't have agar and the one time I tried it, it failed. The ub bags are wet but my hypothesis is that you can put more lq into it hence more mycellium spread throughout the grains, because there's more wall area in the gallon bag so it gets out of the rice and condenses on the wall of the bag.. shaking would be a good thing imo. The more you do it the more resilient the mycelium will be once it grows out and you take a clone. No? It's like stressing it so you have tougher genetics in future generations. I would think anyway. When I used my lc, I also only sucked up mycelium globs with the syringe so it's as thick as I can get it. So far tho, I'm vouching for ub ziplok tek. Fruited in the bag with just coir. Grown from lc.. I think I can do alot with just that. I may just NEVER end up having to buy a pressure cooker since I just boil the lc jar for a half our to sterilize it. After watching this I may try another shake but I think my technique has the mycellium spread quite nicely

I started some 250ml jars from spores when the way over inoculated plates came out 3/4 clean.
Shook them very early, after myc was spreading through grains but nowhere near 30%
Shook again after they spread more, and I’ll leave them now, just experimenting

    This works!
This is my very first go at this.
I used transpore tape instead. Thought I messed up with the exchange. I replaced with microcore re shook it and holy cow! Mycelium exploded within 2 days. I will be fruiting in a couple days!

Have you ever used UVC on contaminated plates? I keep wondering if there is an exposure level that could hurt the bacteria or mold but not kill the mycelium. I guess I shall try

I am pretty new at this but I have def noticed that occasionally contam won't show until AFTER the shake & break. I lost 3 jars recently that just got taken over my mold that was hiding in some of the grains and made it through PC and just did NOT show at all until after I shook. I also caught some contams a few times when I did my shake. Once, as soon as I hit the jar against my palm one time a huge green grain ball came out of the middle of the jar. Bummer - but great to catch it early like that.
