i feel like its come to a point in Togashi's hiatus that no matter what the editors say, he's determined to finish the manga the way he wants it to. he's serious about it and wants to complete it before he passes, so they could grant him that instead of denying his original vision.

@@gabbyz2164 oh so sorry about my late reply! but what i know about togashi and his works is that he never queerbaits anyone into thinking his characters are LGBT because if there is subtext, then they most definitely are, or he wouldn't make the characters come off that way. he's created a couple of other lgbt characters in his manga as well, but what i know is that the editors of the company he wanted to publish hunter x hunter under did not approve of openly lgbt characters. i don't think that stopped him from hinting at it though through subtext, interactions between characters, monologs, so he wasnt completely prevented from integrating what he wanted to

In that one scene where Killuas was talking about gon being light.. I think it was so beautiful. Truly. I think it's so romantic in nature. I'm not too objective on this, but I really do believe that this is the exact moment Killua fell in love with gon and started to realize he felt a bit more than friendship towards him. It's killua respecting Gon for who he is and realizing that he is light and he always has been, he's the one who saved him and who's always been so bright and optimistic and always makes the best out of any situation. In this scene, Killua lets himself down in Gon's light, allows himself to feel this ''wow'' moment of pure admiration and love, and it's absolutely beautiful. (MAJOR SPOILERS) That's why I felt like crying when Killua was watching Gon sacraficing himself to kill Pitou. I remember his look being filled with despair because he was about to lose the one person he loves most in his life, his light.

Authors don't usually confirm these things. I think he did mention that he originally intended HxH to be more queer and the producers didn't allow it, but that doesn't mean the current versions of Gon + Killua are queer). I have seen an old tweet from him where he was apparently confused by Gon + Killua being shipped. It may have been coy since he must obviously at least know that they look pretty gay together.

I just remembered a scene from the new Shera where catra is running away in the forest and says "Adora doesn't want me......... not like I want her." And I think that is the same as the scene where Killua is crying and repeating the Gon is his friend when he's trying to go rescue him. I mean except for the part that killua is trying to run to gon and catra was running away from Adora. But the feelings are the same. sadly, the focus in the manga is currently on leorio, kurapika, and the dark continent. it may take longer than 1 or 2 seasons worth of story to get back to gon and killua (right now only gon has a brief appearance in the manga beyond where the anime ended)
A little off topic but still on topic in the show Miraculous the english voice actor for the main character Marinette and Killua are the same person and in the show miraculous Mari is head over heals for the other character Adrien who is constantly calling her "Just a Friend" and because of Mari hearing that so often it's obvious that the voice actor believes this is the only was to confess love to their love interest therefore using it for Killua when describing Gon.

I have nothing wrong with shipping. But what bothers me is that, when women are as close as Gon and Killua, their seen by the majority as nothing more than very close friends. Anytime it's 2 boys like this, a majority of people assume it's gay romance. People wonder why men have a hard time expressing their feelings and this is why. Their young and nobody has made them feel weird about it so they just remain close. But the moment people beging assuming how they are sexually, they'll either go for it, or drift apart because now it's uncomfortable. Just the way I see it. I use to be this close to my friends too, until people started making us feel like it was more than a friendship.

A little off topic but still on topic in the show Miraculous the english voice actor for the main character Marinette and Killua are the same person and in the show miraculous Mari is head over heals for the other character Adrien who is constantly calling her "Just a Friend" and because of Mari hearing that so often it's obvious that the voice actor believes this is the only was to confess love to their love interest therefore using it for Killua when describing Gon.
He's just a friend , she's just a friend Miraculous vibes.

I'm indifferent about shipping, so I came to watch the video to see if I would start shipping, but most of the facts there are very simple, they can be summed up as friendship. I have nothing wrong with shipping. But what bothers me is that, when women are as close as Gon and Killua, their seen by the majority as nothing more than very close friends. Anytime it's 2 boys like this, a majority of people assume it's gay romance. People wonder why men have a hard time expressing their feelings and this is why. Their young and nobody has made them feel weird about it so they just remain close. But the moment people beging assuming how they are sexually, they'll either go for it, or drift apart because now it's uncomfortable. Just the way I see it. I use to be this close to my friends too, until people started making us feel like it was more than a friendship.
