Good to see a muntjac again. They used to come into my garden every evening at dusk to eat ivy. They had beautiful manners and left my roses alone, wasn’t as delicious as ivy. The laboratory that took over the Manor House put a a deer proof fence up and I never got deer in my garden again. I miss them. That was a lovely episode of your life, I loved the flints, the walls of my house are flint. It is very special…..the flint I mean.
How sad that the deer proof fence was put up and your muntjac were so well behaved as well! Thank you for watching and commenting. Have a super rest of the week, take care🦋🌻
Hello Vanessa - greetings from Poland You've just hit my jackpot! That was by miles, the best video EVER! The camera work and commentary were brilliant. Red kites at sunrise with a family of swans - peace and tranquility. The ancient artefacts brought by Farmer Jason were unbelievable. Lying below the surface of his fields for thousands of years. This part of your vlog proves a point - if you're nice to people, they are nice to you. The best part? - chinese water deer escaping your pink jacket, closely followed by a squirrel. Then a muntjac deer, stonechat, lapwings, buzzard and egret. Brilliant! Fantastic! Thank you again.
It is also one of my favourite moments in our journeys to date. Meeting Farmer Jason and learning from him about the land that he worked on and the pieces of history that he had found, is just unforgettable! Thank you for reminding me about it again. Take care🌻🦋
What a nice farmer to let you stay on his land and the tools that he found I can't get enough of your videos with the walks out with the dog and to see the wild life then the volgs
Many thanks for a wonderful start to the day. 6pm in the morning, a happy start to my day. I lived in that area for many years before moving to Egypt for 10 years moved back to the UK and settled in Lincolnshire. Still love the fens.
Wow, you have travelled about a bit, John! Egypt must have been a great place to live. Many years ago, I backpacked around there and loved it. Then we took our children when they were little too. The Fens is a special place as well. Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Take care🌻🦋
I couldn't believe it when I saw the ancient tools and held them in my own hands. It was an incredible experience. Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Take care🌻🦋
Wow! What a flog? That is incredible and words fail me to thank you. `you certainly have an eye for nature I would love to have an narrow boat. Thanks.
How right you are about Farmer Jason! He is an absolute star and is like a walking museum with all of the knowledge that he has. Thank you so much for watching the vlogs. Have a wonderful rest of the week; take care🦋🌻
Thanks for another beautiful video, I love Buzzards and I see more of them these days up in the north west of England where I live these days. Take care and all the best. Stevie
Buzzards are beautiful birds aren’t they? I didn’t know until I started seeing them more that there were several different types too! Take care and all the best to you too, Stevie!🌻🦋

Evening Vanessa hope ur all well? What a great vlog Vanessa full of beautiful shots of the wild life, very David Bellamy with the low shots of the grass and descriptive commentary. What a nice man farmer Jason was to show u his historic artefacts and it was very interesting to watch😀👍. Thanks again and have a nice weekend and coming week 😀🦅🦢🦋xx
David Bellamy! 🤣 Thank you, Simon for your lovely comment. Farmer Jason was an absolute treasure wasn’t he? And so patient to let us moor on his land! Have a super weekend!🌻🦋
BEST episode. You are so relaxed, the chuckles and quiet whispers in nature, were so captivating. Deer are magical exept when they eat your runner beans. Smart and generous farmer Jason.
Hi Kelli, thank you so much for your lovely comment. It must be amazing having deer in your own garden once you’ve harvested all your runner beans! They must be great lawn mowers though!🤣🦌 Have a super weekend🦋🌻
Hello again it was good to see you moored up today by the steam train today. We saw you before we left at ten mile bank so it is only fitting to see you on our way back. Keep safe
@@themindfulnarrowboat Hello yes that was us. The river is starting to flow a bit faster now but river was clear all the way through. The only point to watch out for is the bridge before Ditchford lock has a large piece of metal hanging down in the navigation path if you keep well left it is fine.
It was lovely to meet you and 'Mr Mindful' last week. We love the videos, to see the landscape and the wildlife. This latest is great - loved to see the deer. There are lots of them in East Anglia especially up in Norfolk. Farmer Jason was a treasure too - what luck to meet such an interesting chap.
Hi Stephen, it was lovely to meet you both too! It was incredible luck to meet Farmer Jason with his archeological treasures. Your boating adventures and exciting discoveries are ahead of you too! I bet you can’t wait. Have a super weekend!🦋🌻
He exists? Stephen, I believe you may have been put under some sort of sinister voodoo ghost spell and only imagined that there is a Mr. Mindful. He's only an illusion.
I was speechless at the time and I kept staring at the chipped flint thinking ancient man made those marks and now I’m holding it! Farmer Jason could easily have his own TH-cam channel with his stories of the Fenland! Have a super weekend!🌻🦋
Kite flying at sunset...no strings attached..cant get better than that (unless they weren't kites??) Farmer Jason nice man...thanks for the history lesson Jason :) Thanks for the journey Vanessa, thumbs up from you know where.
It was brilliant meeting Jason and learning about the past from the incredible treasures that he had found on his farm. Thank you for watching, take care🦋🌻
I live in Montana and I go look for Arrowheads in the summer and find a lot of things that mans artifacts where WOW I'm glad 😊 I got to see them thank you narrow boat
Good evening Vanessa, very interesting these objects found by the farmer Jason, your shots are always so beautiful, beautiful nature, good weekend and good week
It was so exciting to be able to hold the tools from the past and know they were held by ancient hands. Thank you for your lovely comment, Jean-Louis! Have a super weekend!🦋🌻
Hi Vanessa ,great vlogs as usual I love them! This maybe a stupid question, why do the narrow boats sail on the right hand side of the canals and not the left?
Hi Glyn, thank you for your lovely comment. I think the answer to your question goes back to the maritime law that boats pass port to port. Wishing you a wonderful weekend🌻🦋
Hi Frank, thank you so much for this. It is one of our favourite memories from our travels to date meeting Farmer Jason. Have a wonderful week. Take care🦋🌻

Hi John, thank you for your lovely comment and I hope you are keeping well. Farmer Jason is such a fascinating person to talk to and it was so kind of him to let us moor on his land. It was my first spot of Chinese Water Deer which was the first deer in the film but then you are right, the second deer was a muntjac and they look so similar from a distance. Chinese Water Deer are the only deer not to have antlers, instead the males have a pair of very long canines which look a bit like antlers but hanging outside of the mouth! Thank you for watching and have a super Sunday and week ahead!🌻🦋
