Hey Brian, I had an important question I've been debating for a while now. If you were accepted into both public health schools at Yale and Johns Hopkins for an MPH, which one would you pick? There are obviously pros and cons for the both of them. But having gone through the program at Hopkins, I feel you'd have a good sense.

Hopkins 100%. However, heavily skewed towards my own interests of course. I only applied to the MPH programs at harvard, UNC, hopkins, and emory. My interests were primarily in favor of 1) part-time programs, 2) had an informatics-component, 3) flexibility to explore beyond the core public health topics. Hopkins easily checked all the boxes because of how flexible their program was and I took advantage of their other schools (e.g. business, policy, and biomedical informatics) to explore my interests. All the other MPH programs felt way too rigid (50% of Hopkins program is electives since it's 80 credits). Also, the network.....is huge. I've been able to get a lot of unique opportunities because of it. Certainly can't go wrong with Yale either, but I have a hard time picturing myself anywhere else. Hopkins was one of the best experiences I've had in my career.
