Trust me till now it happens in small towns and rural areas of India. My friend's aunty has killed 7 baby girls through an abortion till now as her husband's family doesn't have any son so they are worried about their bloodline as according to them girls are paraya dhan and they have to leave after marriage so they can't carry the blood line of their families. She is still being forced to conceive and give birth to a son but after these abortions her body is getting weaker day by day although she feels guilty for killing her babies but she doesn't have any other option besides she already has 2 daughters. I bet if she keeps on conceiving for a son she will die sooner or later. Our societal system is extremely f*** up.
Do ppl still do that? I am 40 and I come from a remote village. My mom always said that my dad’s mom and dad wanted a girl and they used to call me gold. This is now so rare and may be 1% does this.
@@rasmitarait7745India has been modernized now ? Is not like Pakistan and Bangladesh, because I have a positive perception about Hindu and Sikh women , much more emancipated and taught than Muslim Desi ?
That's baby 19. Babies just fall out of her uterus now. Seriously, after 3-4 births, labour goes super fast, but your risk of uterine rupture also goes up exponentially (the uterus is a very intense muscle and the more you use it, the more irreparable damage you get). 3-5 kids is really the max recommended, safety-wise. Every additional pregnancy becomes increasingly risky to mom because you never fully heal after pregnancy - some damage always stays.
The prophet Muhammad pbuh said to treat your male and female children equally and that if you are to be slightly softer with one then to be like that with the female. This is when he say a man who was sitting in a chair with his son in his lap and daughter sitting on the ground.
@@Angelitabebe I think you are confusing culture and tradition (which vary drastically in different countries and at different points in time) with religion. One can make a compelling argument that the Quran actually has a much more egalitarian stance on women than the Bible. And I am saying this as a non-religious person who just likes to study religions. And then of course there are different branches and schools of thought in every religion. Some of them are more progressive and some of them are less so. And then there are a minority of radicals that give religion a bad name, which is also typical for any religion. What I want to get through is that demonizing Islam as a whole is just a misinformed stance on the matter.
My grandparents did that. My mother the oldest and her brother still got meaningful names but their sisters were named "the next one" and "the disturbance" 😅
Wtf, I read the comment's & if you guys are really serious then that's messed up!! 😳 some cultures are cruel when it comes to having a baby girl, it blows my mind!! I'm asian & my dad always wanted a boy but got 3 girls & refused to give up on a son so after having 3 girls already, they finally got their son. I'm the oldest girl & when my baby brother was born, I was already 16yrs old. My mom even told me once, if their 1st born meaning me was a boy then they would've stopped having kids!!
Many cultures are like that. I'm also Asian and my parents have always reminded me that I'm unwanted. My younger brother is the golden child. My mother told me once driving me to work when I was in my early 20s (she insisted on driving me even though it's not far by bus) that she was ready to abort me like in her first pregnancy and wondered why she didn't. PS I was raised by my grandmother in my parent's home until I was 12, when she walked out on us
Arab, India, China hate baby girl. In India it is prohibited to do USG because parents tend to kill their baby if they know it will be a girl. In China with one child policy, people try any medical thing to make the baby being a boy, and many of them will abort it if it is a girl. In Arab, they just hate girl in general. Women is like a prisoner in their patriarchy and islamic culture.
Oh gosh this made me laugh sm 🤣🤣🤣 considering the recent news where the mother ended up putting their baby into the over instead of the food cuz she thought that was food 🥲🥲🥲 and then the kid died ..ok now it’s getting sad as I am explaining it .. but it was funny at first .. it’s still is 🥲 k bye
Fun fact: the father is the one who determines the baby's gender, because the genotype of the woman's egg is XX, meaning she can only contribute an X to the zygote. The genotype of the male's sperm is XY, meaning he can contribute either an X or a Y to the zygote. So if a couple keeps getting girls, it's because the dad keeps giving X's 😊 (TLDR: dad determines baby's gender, if it's a girl it's bc he keeps making it a girl) Another fun fact: the X chromosome is about five times larger than the Y chromosome and has about ten times the genes of the Y chromosome. So more traits are accounted for on the X chromosome, as well as more diseases. That's why X-linked recessive disorders such as colorblindness and hemophilia are more common in men: if a male inherites the allele for such a disease, they don't have another X chromosome to carry the dominant allele that allows them to not have the trait (the disease). Because females do have another X chromosome, they need two recessive alleles for the disease for it to be present.Think of it as a backup- they carry the allele, but don't present the trait because they have another allele that dominates the recessive allele that gives the disease. (TLDR: the x chromosome carries more traits, as well as more diseases. Since men don't have another X chromosome, they don't have a backup for the diseases and can get them more easily)
Zoubaida was the very famous and respected wife of Harun Al-Rashid, a Muslim leader in history. Zoubaida was called zoubaida, a word for soft butter, because she was very soft with people as a child. As an adult, she was an amazing leader in her own right and helped build up society in her time. I believe she had many amazing buildings built and took care of people. I wonder if she is the reason you were named that
Omg, so accurate💀 My father's name is Ahmed, and when my older sister wasn't even born yet, everyone thought that she would be a boy, so my parents wanted to name her Mahmoud. Now stick with me. My grandpa's name was Mahmoud. So when she ended up a girl, they called her a beautiful Egyptian name Engy. Their imagination ended with me (I'm the second girl, my mama is Russian, my papa is Egyptian), so they just called me the first Russian name they could think of. Now I'm Olya. .. 💀💀💀 They didn't even bother, lmao

This hits because I’m white and I married a Pakistani man, we had 5 girls before our first boy, another boy came 5 years later. He never chose the names but I gave some Islamic names and some American so it worked out. ❤
As a white female, I can confirm my name wasn't decided like that. My mother's grandmother's name was Selime and she died 40 days before my birth so they gave me her name. Selime means solid, flawless, true, pure, pure-hearted.

@@AgentMercerits definitely not islam Islam has elevated women or girls. The prophet our mothers must be loved, respect and taken care of 3x than our fathers, he said, the one who raises 3, 2, and even 1 girl children/child properly will will be close to him in jannah. And women are not allowed to take their husbands name after marriage, you must keep your father's name. Is that even possible from where you come from? Every culture have a way of wanting more male children, in those days it was Abt having enough family members to work on the farm lands, protect the family... Ofcourse you can't do that with bunch of women. And in Islam, women must be taken care or, all needs must be fulfilled, so more women means more expenses for such family. Women are not burdens, but are treasures in Islam, hence they must be handle with Care.
For many cultures, definitely not only islamic or Arab, in Europe too, yes, girls were not as desirable as sons. There were a lot of factors, from more practical ones, like a son would continue the name/the business of the family, daughters needed dowries to get married etc etc etc. ... to the completely insane ones, like the toxic idea that producing sons was evidence of the father's virility and masculinity.
I still have my father's name because my husband's name is too common and my husband wants to take my last name. But actually I would like my mom's maiden name or have her first name + dottir as a last name. We can do all these things in my culture. Much more free than being forced to carry your father's name.
You're not alone ,sis. A very close person in my life told me that I should adopt a male child in the future cause a male child can look after me when i'm old when I told her I would like to adopt a female child one day. We're very close and she has helped me grow up , looked after me in my childhood. That day it struck me that I was never that satisfying for her. Idk what others think but ik what she thinks about girls while being a woman herself
Yes but in many many traditional cultures (not just muslim) people prefer sons, and in American culture it is acceptable to make jokes about people who are deamed too hold back in the past with their believes
Yeah it suck. One of the first things islam tried to stop and this is still the mentality of some people. There are people who try to have a child their whole life and never get to. Imagine getting mad when God blesses you witha healty child.

I guess the culture camd from their people
China too
Trust me till now it happens in small towns and rural areas of India.

@@Angelitabebe who said you that?

If you want a specific gender than you are not mature enough to become parents period.
Bro got a whole golf court
The way he wanted a refund 😂😂
Fun fact: the father is the one who determines the baby's gender, because the genotype of the woman's egg is XX, meaning she can only contribute an X to the zygote. The genotype of the male's sperm is XY, meaning he can contribute either an X or a Y to the zygote. So if a couple keeps getting girls, it's because the dad keeps giving X's 😊
(TLDR: dad determines baby's gender, if it's a girl it's bc he keeps making it a girl)
Another fun fact: the X chromosome is about five times larger than the Y chromosome and has about ten times the genes of the Y chromosome.
So basically the dad has skill issue and terrible luck? Cause for it to be X 18 times is something else

Do people hate their daughters or something? It's a bundle of joy either way. Girls deserve just as much love
It’s a cultural thing, males carry on the family name and carry more authority, it isn’t just Islam where this is practiced
Women's testimony is worth half of a man's testimony.
I still have my father's name because my husband's name is too common and my husband wants to take my last name. But actually I would like my mom's maiden name or have her first name + dottir as a last name. We can do all these things in my culture. Much more free than being forced to carry your father's name.
