@@windflare1637 It's obviously a Jack and the Beanstalk reference. The 'giant' probably made himself into a giant since the giant pumpkins suggests he has some kind of magical growing potion. You can also see the beanstalk erupting from the ground. That's probably when he became a giant, living in his giant house up in the clouds on his beanstalk. The hero climbs up and fights him there (hence why the birds are still small). The giant might even fall to his death if it follows the fairy tale, as is hinted by the giant broken glasses.

@Balverine it would be so cool if the way they introduced the balverine was a contract for a werewolf but then as you catch up to it a balverine comes out of no where and kills the werewolf
I loved Lost Chapters when I was a kid. That game was so fun. I hope it has strong TLC elements. Abilities like Enflame and being able to augment your weapons with thunder and fire and stuff were amazing. I've been waiting for a new fable game that competes with TLC for many years now. Praying that this is on par with the original classic.
Fable: TLC came out like 20 years ago? I was in college then. I liked that game, being a long time fantasy RPG fan (FF, Castlevania, Legend of Zelda games are favorites). Fable was a good game and Fable 2 was even better. Then came Fable 3, and I was let down.
Personally, since they’re doing a reset I hope they explain it to keep it in line with the other games. a game like Fable, which has had the old kingdom, is the perfect game to do a reset in without scrapping the existing events of the series
I hate quick time events too, but also think that it would be hard to fight the giant without them, as long as it’s only in this quest, I can tolerate some quick time events. In the bandits section looks like normal fable gameplay so not too worried about it.
@@gh0rochi363but for shadow of the colossus that’s the entire mechanic, making it like that could break the game for a game like fable but also would QTEs, I really hope they don’t add that mechanic
I loved the trailer tbh, and I think it captures the Fable feel very well. When people are complaining about the on the nose fairytale parody, I think they forget the fairytale inspirations in the originals. Like Scarlet Robe clearly being a joke about Little Red Riding Hood. Its not as though this is literally the story of Jack and the Beanstalk, it just so happens to involve a giant and a beanstalk.
I was initially a little put off by how in your face fairy tale it seems, but on reflexion I don't think it'll be a problem. Balverines, Hobbs, demon doors, and even Jack of Blades himself when I think on it wouldn't look out of place in a more traditional fairy tail like setting, plus this is just what they've shown off so far. I wouldn't be surprised if that wereworlf in the trailer is what Balverines just look like, part of me thinks it could be a white Balverine but regular designs change, I mean just look at the difference with earth and rock trolls between fable 1 to 2 and 3. Finally that chicken kicking scene gives me a feeling that when your Strength gets to max you unlock the emote to kick chickens into the atmosphere as a seperate unique emote.
Bravo. Literally, amazing video. You just turned my skepticism around, and you make total sense. This makes me more hyped now. All we need, now, is a release date lol.
Fantastic analysis, people have been very unfair to the trailer on social media. Most of that stems from those same people just wanting 10 minutes of deep dive gameplay and nothing else. The trailer teased so much I can't wait for them to show more.
most of it actually stems from incels and transphobes tbh, the lack of persistent gameplay was a valid concern, but that was vastly overshadowed by the amount of absolutely toxic discourse around how the character looks.
@@RuthwikRao I literally just found out about the reboot and was pleasantly amused by the trailer only to see hicks in the comments upset that the trailer's narrator wasn't white and the "hero" was a woman, and some calling her trans??? If the game is good and the characters are well written is what matters, not how they look. I don't understand mfs these days.
The good thing about fable is that it was never just one thing, the brand is really transformable. If the developers have a good gameplay loop in mind and use a cool karma system i think it will be a really cool fable game.
I'm so happy that we're getting a new fable game after all this time. I remember playing 2 and 3 every day even after finishing the main story I would roam around albion, slay hobbes and hollow men and sacrifice people to the shadow cult and buy literally every home and shop and increase and or decrease the prices just to see the reactions of people. The roleplay potential is massive and that's why I love it. Also I the steampunk industrial aesthetic of fable 3 was literally my favourite thing
Things I would like to see in this new Fable: - No more hollow man, I want the undead back, including their horrifying screams. The current generation of children should experience what I felt in Fable 1 when I saw an undead for the first time and heard its scream after killing it. - No firearms. - No dog, or at least make it optional. I enjoyed the sense of solitude that gave me the first game, and the dog ruined that in the second one. - I want the light-hearted and funny elements, but I also want the darkness of its forests and the unease it brings. - I want to be very good if I choose to, but also very evil, but VERY evil. I'm worried that they might limit this due to current times. In the end, I feel guilty and I'm not really evil hehe, but I want to have the option there. - I definitely want Oakvale to return. - I want a soundtrack that lives up to expectations. All the fans know what I'm talking about.
I really hope we see the story of the archons bloodline continue, although I doubt it, I really felt like the story surrounding Theresa, Scythe, and his descendants was ramping up into something grand and epic, and there were so many questions left unanswered. I'm going to try and keep and open mind, but id be lying if I were to say that I'm not disappointed with the prospect of fable 4 abandoning all of this captivating lore that has been built up by the previous games.
Maybe the main character starts out looking like that, and the more good deeds you do the more beautified and "hero-like" she'll look. And vice-versa (more evil deeds=worse looks/devil horns). So you'd have to progess in-game to affect her looks? Maybe!
Why does she need to look different? Do you expect males to start out with average looks but get more and more sexually attractive to you as the game goes on? Do you get more and more excited the more manscaped he becomes?
I’ve been waiting for this video from you. I had the same initial reaction the first time I saw the trailer.. I watched it more and more and became more excited, like you, I want to wait until we get more info. I will however hold onto hope. Quick question though. Do you think this will be a full on reboot or do you think there will be bits from the previous games? If the the timeline allows it anyway
Thank you for breakdown on the trailer! Im just excited that we will have a new fable instead of the franchise dying! I feel like they will insert fairytales in albion as quest but not as the main storyline! They need to release gameplay footage tbh haha like this year tease more of the game! My fave is Fable 2! ❤️
I’m terrified for the new game because they said they’re “updating it for modern audiences” and that means it’ll be hot garbage that will crap on the original. I love Fable. I want more games but not if it’s gonna be something that isn’t Fable. This could be a Fable game or just a new fantasy game they slapped the Fable name onto.
i'm concerned about the "modern audience" part too. but considering that you could sleep with anyone in all 3 games i hope they don't find excuses to tarnish legacies of well known male character in the lore.
I do hope we will be able to design our own characters. I like the design on this one but one thing I have *always* wanted to do in Fable is explore the world in my own skin. Edited to Add: That said, the fact that the character seems to be a replication of the voice actress's face suggests that character appearance will be fixed in place.
Fable was never like that though. You could change the hairstyle clothes weight tattoos. All that but not their face. They're always going to have the same ugly face.
Hello Skyrionn! Couple of thoughts about the trailer from a game dev. The biggest thing I thought about is how the studio behind the new Tomb Raider trilogy and support on Guardians of the Galaxy (Crystal Dynamics) is helping with Fable. They are really good at immersive, scripted events, which are the sections you are worried may be quick time events. Maybe they are helping with things like the giant's boss battle. Also, while this is a reboot, I have suspicions that this will be loosely based around 250 years after Fable 1. Also, if we look at Forza Horizon 5, there is a limited character customization system there, where you choose 1 of around 10 character designs to be your character. Then you just change their outfit. I could see them reusing that system for this. This would work really well with a voice selection system of some kind I think.
I actually liked this character design but I hope we get something more in depth than a wheel of characters. I have talked with game dev acquaintances before about how, as a butch woman, I see a lot of choices that they make (especially for female characters) as ridiculous to the point of spoiling game experiences. Like the way the team who worked on the human models for Fallout 3 insisted that the female model needed to have the heels elevated off the ground even when they were not wearing shoes; a creative choice that made it difficult to enjoy the game fully until I knuckled down, learned to mod, and put those heels flat on the ground. People even said it would somehow screw up the walk cycle, which, of course, it never did. Overexaggerated swishy hips are on the list of things that drag me out of a game too. I dunno. I feel like in-depth character customization is ultimately akin to an accessibility issue but for social matters rather than matters of disability. In-depth customization goes a long way toward letting people 'outside the norm' share in the 'experiencing the world through my avatar' experience; while the opposite usually just communicates 'Hey, we did not think about you and likely never will.'
@@AuntieHauntieGames I don't think that a lack of character customization really sends the message of not thinking about people. After all not everyone who plays RPG's does so to self-insert into the game, some people just like to enjoy stories and the characters within said stories, and for those folks it doesn't run much deeper than that. I agree that its refreshing to see people who aren't conventionally attractive being represented in games, it kills immersion for me when the entire population of a game in comprised of 20ish year old super models. I welcome more diverse characters as it helps to create the illusion of a living world. Also in past fable games the player character always had a sibling or other family, so it made sense to have a preset appearance because it would be odd if you and Theresa looked completely different haha, ofc we don't know what the story will be yet for the new fable so I suppose that remains to be seen. Honestly though im happy with whatever route they choose, I can see myself having fun with customization but I also like fables roots of "this is what you get, now make it your own".
I see a lot of potential. Unfortunately there a lot of people who look for the negative and not the positive. It is like they want to complain just to complain. I say wait till the game gets released before you judge it.
I cannot believe I didn't clock on to Fin being Simon Peg 🤯 I knew about Stephen Fry and Jonathan Ross but didn't even realise it was Simon even after 10 playthroughs 😅
I have been waiting SO patiently for you to make a video one this! Thank you! Also I think people are being way too critical, and should be happy we're even getting another Fable game, AND in the best era, too! I think it looks amazing with a ton of possibilities and was never under the impression that the Hero show will be who we play as, just based on the customization in the last games. I feel they might have SOME kind of character creator. Also why didn't anyone think if was gameplay? It says so right at the bottom.
I share your excitement, I love fable so much, I just hope that what we get actually IS fable. All of the lore, the pythonesque humor, and most importantly the ability to balance contradictory tones without having them step on each others toes. I'm not trying to be a downer, I just care about fable a lot and I don't want to go into this expecting the revival of my fav childhood games only to be met with a decent modern rpg that is wearing the face of fable without actually understanding what it is or appreciating its story and lore. so all in all, I'm cautiously hopeful, I'm not saying the trailer is bad, we just weren't shown or told enough to put my fears to rest.
I was so depressed when lionhead shut down but now im really happy that my favorite game series of all time is getting a new entry. Fable 2 is my favorite
i would love a new Fable game, tho i am scared of this. it seems like they want to put waaaay more into the game then Fable was meant to be, make it for everyone, a basic game. I loved the choosing between good and evil in Fable the most and i really hope they dont give us a straight storyline without any choice. (also my fav. Fable is II i just loved it
I remember saying "Why didn't they make a game about the fall of the Heroes between 1 & 2?" Taking a look at that castle and the technology I think this game is set between 1 and 2. This might be it. The story of how the Heroes fell.
I don't think Dave is an organic giant. We've seen size shifting magic in Fable but not any inhuman giants. It makes more sense to me that what Dave did to himself is either an inversion of the shrinking spell from the beginning of the TTRPG side quest or an extension of the regrowth spell used at the end of that quest.
I remember there was an "attractiveness" Stat in fable 1, maybe we'll actually see it represented in our appearances instead of being a number? Like this woman maybe she turns into Bayonetta or something if we actually invest in her "attractiveness" Stat, just like we could actually see our muscles grow and our hair change.
First impressions -This looks like a reimagining of the series rather than a soft reboot. -The tone and humour is suitably weird, british and light hearted. The fourth wall breaking stuff needs to used sparingly though so its not too obnoxious. -The games presentation is much more realistic and cinematic. Its graphically impressive but I worry this aesthetic could diminish the charm and character of Albion. -Combat already looks slicker than previous games and could be a highlight. -A voiced protagonist is concerning but it depends on the approach. Long conversations with dialogue choices wouldn't be a good fit for Fable. They need to be an introvert goofball of few words that speaks just for player feedback and comedic effect. This is the impression i get from the trailer which is promising. We dont want quippy marvel comedy. -Overall I think its too early to judge it either way but it'll definitely be a different take.
Theory, Dave uses magic to help with his gardening and shrinks the hero, that's why it was awkward to meet them, not because of trash talk but because Dave assumed the hero was dead. Everything else is perspective. Food for thought?
I liked the graphics and overall environmental design, but something about the tone of the trailer or the character designs made me get a similar vibe as the Saints Row reboot, where that was “updated for a modern audience” I just hope the developers end up not doing that
@@Skyrionn but that bean stock is only large because of his profession of making large vegetables not because he is necessarily a giant, also I love you vids on Behind The Lore of Fable - do you intend to make a video on Gabriel from Fable 4? I also realize the old folk story of their being a giant at the top of the bean stock, but it could just be a reference to it rather than an exact copy of it, no?
I think we will be shrinking the giant first if you look in the trailer the hero is speaking with the farmer and the giant in reasonable size and she had a potion on her waist when walking through the village so maybe we shrink him down
No I don't want to create my own character because I want to make my own story. I want to create my own character because I don't want it looking as ugly as what we were just shown.
I still want to play the remake! I admit in the original series after fable 1, the heroes mostly died. I get it in away it was Albion's way of getting away from magic and heading towards human enginuity. But yeah quick time events are lame. But having to fight giants cool I remember there was a giant mentioned in the first original Fable. That so called balvorine (werewolf) probably a huge wolf. But seeing Jack of Blades and Necropolis city would be see and it's original name origins.
I was waiting to see if anyone notice the sword is acutely the master sword from fable 1 having the yellow guard and blue gem in the middle I assume this is just a better and modern design of it we can also see the similar design of the sword on Sophia sword of fable 1.
At the beginning I didn’t like the trailer because the details flew over my head and the music is new. However, after a few rewatch I think we’re in good hands.
@@Balverine I think it is definitely a mistake to make them look like werewolves but that hardly matters. All that matters is that the sculptor working on this game felt that balverines should look like werewolves. Fable has never had werewolves before but it has always had a monster that is based on werewolves directly, so it is not hard to imagine a sculptore saying "Let's make these more like werewolves."

Damn you're making a bunch of errors in this video. The guy with the kart is clearly not the same guy complaining about the pumpkins for example. And that's clearly a Balverine. Just a different design.
Cmon man its obviously a balverine. The only difference is a slight graphical update to make it look more believable (we all remember how goofy Fable 2 and 3 balverines looked) this looks like a next gen balverine with 1.5x scale on the old ones so that theyre bigger and more threatening to a normal sized hero
I hope the character talks cos I think that would really open an opportunity to enhance the expression system But I’m all honestly no matter what I am so keen for this game. Fable is childhood gold for me
But why do you love that? Why goad and mock the Fanbase and community behind the Fable franchise? Having an Ugly hero character and act like everything is normal...... Clearly they are goading and there is ideological decision making behind it. They simply dont want a good looking 'Sexy' female. Hence the Witch hunt for potential 'wokeness' is justified as we see it happening in so many entertainment mediums nowadays. Fans have a right to be concerned about what they see and speculate on matters. Thats the whole point of a teaser trailer.... Both Negative and positive criticism is justified.
The fable games have been one of my favorite series growing up I love them I’m excited but I wish they would keep up the idea of making your own character and developing them how you want I feel choice of who and what you wanna be has been instrumental in making the fable games what they are any way it goes I’ll be playing but I’d love to see them maintaining player choice
Great job been watching the channel for a long time, the thing I hope for most in the new fable is for our appearance to change with our alignment of good/evil 😈 they got away from that in the third fable I was very disappointed
I fully agree with basically everything you've mentioned here, like yourself I'm a bit worried by the action sequence shown in the trailer, I hope the game isn't filled with all these on-rails action set pieces which, as you mentioned, will probably feature quick time events.
I like guns and a voiced protagonist in Fable more. More options like guns, bows, crossbows are great, yeah I get it, you don't have a blank slate to personalize your character, maybe they'll add a toggle for the voices and line delivery if you're not using voice acting.
Pumpkins are treated pretty strangely here in the US, we use them for two things, making pumpkin pies and jack-o-lanterns. My family used to also roast and eat the pumpkin seeds after making lanterns though.
Not sure how i feel about them ditching the old art style for realism. Also, kinda weird to see a non-British albion. Maybe it's an empire or something this time around.

@Balverine it would be so cool if the way they introduced the balverine was a contract for a werewolf but then as you catch up to it a balverine comes out of no where and kills the werewolf
Could be a white balverine obscured by shadow, after all white balverines are larger than regular balverines
Maybe Dave got big due to "eating his veggies". Itd fit the tone of Fable perfectly
Sadly it won't. It'll be a game filled with DEI and identity politics.
Personally, since they’re doing a reset I hope they explain it to keep it in line with the other games. a game like Fable, which has had the old kingdom, is the perfect game to do a reset in without scrapping the existing events of the series
I would love an Old Kingdom game. Or a game that took place around Legends time.
Meteor destroys Albion reset part 2
I hate quick time events too, but also think that it would be hard to fight the giant without them, as long as it’s only in this quest, I can tolerate some quick time events. In the bandits section looks like normal fable gameplay so not too worried about it.
The only think I’ll say is RE4 which was known for the ridiculous amount of QTEs eliminated them totally
Shadow of the Colossus didn't need quick time events to fight giants
Same lol
Am I the only one who just thinks Fable one is the best and they haven’t been able to come close with the last couple
Things I would like to see in this new Fable:
- No more hollow man, I want the undead back, including their horrifying screams.
The soundtracks were always so atmospheric in fable games. Like you knew you were in bowestone when you heard the background music and so on.
I just don’t like how realistic it looks. Fable should look animated like it’s a cartoon.
i agree but i think that's why, as many people seem to believe, they made the characters "ugly", so it gives a funny touch
Maybe the main character starts out looking like that, and the more good deeds you do the more beautified and "hero-like" she'll look. And vice-versa (more evil deeds=worse looks/devil horns). So you'd have to progess in-game to affect her looks? Maybe!
I think it's possible since they intentionally made her face full of dirt for some reason. She could be a beginner hero
You *like* the design of this character??

Eidos Montreal is helping in the development of Fable, Crystal Dynamics is helping with Perfect Dark
@@Balverine Thank you for the correction! I knew it was a Western Square Enix studio (Before SE sold them off)! lol
I say wait till the game gets released before you judge it.
i wonder if this takes place between Fable 1 and 2 because you can see Fairfax/Bowerstone Castle in the background when the Hero kicks the chicken.
I cannot believe I didn't clock on to Fin being Simon Peg 🤯 I knew about Stephen Fry and Jonathan Ross but didn't even realise it was Simon even after 10 playthroughs 😅
I didnt even know about stephen fry or jonathan ross, as you can imagine, that revelation was a bit of a mindfuck for me lol
6:13 "I accidentally murdered my partner." You and I have very different takes on what an accident is LOL 😂. Anyway, great video.
Reboot ? That simple world already has me on guard as to if they're gonna do things right.
Good to have you back Sky! Can't wait for the new game :)
i'm not convinced untill I see a proper gameplay trailer
I was so depressed when lionhead shut down but now im really happy that my favorite game series of all time is getting a new entry. Fable 2 is my favorite
i would love a new Fable game, tho i am scared of this.
it seems like they want to put waaaay more into the game then Fable was meant to be, make it for everyone, a basic game.
I loved the choosing between good and evil in Fable the most and i really hope they dont give us a straight storyline without any choice.
(also my fav. Fable is II i just loved it
Yes! So happy to see your Fable videos return.
Finally Fable making a comeback. The character with glass gives me Sacha Dhawan vibes😂❤
What a good video, now I understand in detail what this trailer meant
I remember saying "Why didn't they make a game about the fall of the Heroes between 1 & 2?" Taking a look at that castle and the technology I think this game is set between 1 and 2. This might be it. The story of how the Heroes fell.
I don't think Dave is an organic giant. We've seen size shifting magic in Fable but not any inhuman giants. It makes more sense to me that what Dave did to himself is either an inversion of the shrinking spell from the beginning of the TTRPG side quest or an extension of the regrowth spell used at the end of that quest.
Nice to finally find another person with a positive attitude about this game ❤
I remember there was an "attractiveness" Stat in fable 1, maybe we'll actually see it represented in our appearances instead of being a number?
Like this woman maybe she turns into Bayonetta or something if we actually invest in her "attractiveness" Stat, just like we could actually see our muscles grow and our hair change.
I'm hoping this game has great customization. That and choices that make you feel like they impact the world around the player.
First impressions
-This looks like a reimagining of the series rather than a soft reboot.
I hope they keep the morality and economy systems
The most important part is that we can still kick chickens....chicken chasers unite 🐔!!!!!!!!!
Yay! I was waiting for your take!
I’m admittedly not very familiar with the series, but this game seems pretty cool! Very impressed by the graphics!
I hope we can customize our hero's appeareance
I don't recall being able to do much of that in previous games.
Hopefully they let you change the main characters face cause damn her face is tough
And Gender even since mostly open world game shows you genderlock protagonist but in the end we can change gender
@@ZaiKerizmI think you’ll get to pick gender like the last two games, more people will want to play it then
@@terrymelody9340 it would be stupid not to include choosing between male and female character since that was in Fable 2 and 3 before
Theory, Dave uses magic to help with his gardening and shrinks the hero, that's why it was awkward to meet them, not because of trash talk but because Dave assumed the hero was dead. Everything else is perspective. Food for thought?
Thank you for the break down. I went to look for vids and was surprised at the weird debate. We're just getting excited about the news!
I liked the graphics and overall environmental design, but something about the tone of the trailer or the character designs made me get a similar vibe as the Saints Row reboot, where that was “updated for a modern audience” I just hope the developers end up not doing that
That 4th wall break at the end of the trailer reminded me Fleabag. The hero sounded like Phoebe Waller-Bridge
When are you gonna do the Lore video of the Hero of Oakvale? Or have you done him already?
He's done numerous lore videos (a couple hundred), so I'm sure it probably was already done lol.
@@itsJoshW I've looked for the Hero of Oakvale only focus video and so far nothing that I can find
Curious why you believe its the giant that changes sizes rather than the the hero that strunk themselves when entering his house
Because it's clear the Hero climbs a beanstalk to the giants house.
I think we will be shrinking the giant first if you look in the trailer the hero is speaking with the farmer and the giant in reasonable size and she had a potion on her waist when walking through the village so maybe we shrink him down
YES!!!!!!!! NEED MORE FABLE VIDS
Plz let us customize our own hero's looks 🙏🏽
Are we sure it's in the age of hero's? I thought that was bowestone Castle in the chicken kicking segment
So late to this video but my guy you deserve so much more credit for the amazing content you put out.
I was waiting to see if anyone notice the sword is acutely the master sword from fable 1 having the yellow guard and blue gem in the middle I assume this is just a better and modern design of it we can also see the similar design of the sword on Sophia sword of fable 1.
Dave is standing next to her when they are looking at the pumpkin.
I hope we will see Theresa
Thank you Skyrionn for this video! I know it will be great
At the beginning I didn’t like the trailer because the details flew over my head and the music is new. However, after a few rewatch I think we’re in good hands.
Totally a balverine. Just got beefed up by a designer the same way deathclaws got beefier between Fallouts 3 & NV and Fallout 4.
I don’t think it’s the same, balverines never looked dogish imo
@@Balverine I think it is definitely a mistake to make them look like werewolves but that hardly matters. All that matters is that the sculptor working on this game felt that balverines should look like werewolves. Fable has never had werewolves before but it has always had a monster that is based on werewolves directly, so it is not hard to imagine a sculptore saying "Let's make these more like werewolves."
@@Balverine In 1 they did look more wolflike. They had less hair then the one in the new game. But in the age of heroes they where more wolflike. I have a theory on why.

I've never played Fable. I had the first one on the OG Xbox but who knows where the disc went. This trailer looked good, I hope it is not just a CGI trailer, it did look good and I love the "era" and humor of this.
I'm terrified that they might just have heard "Jack from Fable" and thought "Oh yeah, the bean guy" and went with it
That’s a reach. There are literally some ex Lionhead devs on the new Fable team.
Absolutely needs to be the mythical Old kingdom.
Damn you're making a bunch of errors in this video. The guy with the kart is clearly not the same guy complaining about the pumpkins for example. And that's clearly a Balverine. Just a different design.
“Accidents happen” Dude you threw a fireball at your wife! 😂
I hope the character talks cos I think that would really open an opportunity to enhance the expression system
But I’m all honestly no matter what I am so keen for this game. Fable is childhood gold for me
I love how the developers made the community react like angry npcs.

I personally think quick time events keep you in the moment not out of it 😵💫
i NEED Richard to be in this game and be a recurring character. That alone will sell it to me.
I always thought Europeans liked roasted Pumpkin, I personally could only eat it after a Caribbean chef puts it in rice.
