    The fact that he’s talking about how he loves Pittsburgh and he chose it out of love, compared to those videos of Shane hating on the fact he had to make his movie in Pittsburgh and how that was one of the things that ruined his movie rly says something imo

    The way shane threw this amazing opportunity in the trash is very frustrating

      I mean, I’m not trying to defend him here, but he probably knew he’d win because of his fans, who probably stroke his ego, so he didn’t try.
      By winning, it only furthered his internal idea that he’s a great filmmaker, when, again, it was his fans fueling him.
      So, sure, I guess you could say he threw away the opportunity, but, in the end, it’s a competition that he “unfairly” (debatable, they did *choose* a famous TH-camr...) won.
      I’m more sad about how he used his fame to win, and that it caused the opposing filmmaker to lose, when she clearly had a passion in film.
      Few attended her movie after the first screening, while Shane’s theaters were full (apparently only while he was there. When he was not, it was empty).
      But, if you mean the opportunity to be a filmmaker and to learn, let’s be honest with ourselves. He wasn’t thinking about that. I feel like they should’ve done a better job when choosing who to put on this show, though I understand why they put Shane Dawson. It’s an easy way to bring attention to this show, having him.

      Honestly I wouldn't mind a TH-camr making the transition from making DIY videos to actually working in a professional environment will still be interesting. It just so happen to be Shane out of every other TH-cam filmmakers at that time and it wasn't a very good experimental thing. Look at Zachary's face, he's like what the fuck and so out of it. I kind of wish a network could try it again, but be very selective in their choices I guess. I mean, there's a show call Project Greenlight, where producers, Executive producers, and a studio will allow a first time director to direct his/her film and it's a docseries like the Chair is. The Chair basically was suppose to be the spiritual "success", to Project Greenlight. And now sometime in 2022, Project Greenlight is going to be revived on HBO Max (for the 3rd time around that is as that show too struggled with other things). Give it a watch as you can watch some of the clips of the old show here on TH-cam.

    Shane may have been told "oh yeah the movie is funny keep going" but it's due to the child like tantrums he throws if he gets any negative feedback. I honestly think they were just trying to get it done and get him away from it and them.

    The look on Quinto's face when Moore says "He's going to keep making 'Shane Dawson movies'" is great. Like "God, please no."

    • @jamiegdubois
      @jamiegdubois 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yeah, Quinto’s reaction is priceless lol. I also love that Moore basically gave him a backhanded compliment by saying he’d be making “Shane Dawson movies” but “not for hire or get hired by other people”, so he’s basically implying that Shane may keep making “movies” (which is such a general statement and not even a compliment even) but no one in the industry will probably ever want to work with him. EDIT: I know I’m replying a year late so idk if you’ll ever see this but I just found your comment really funny.

    I think it was an interesting idea to do this show, and picking a known youtuber vs a film student is also an interesting idea. Picking Shane specifically makes sense so he could bring in viewers and he seemed to like making short skits and music videos. However Shane's ego, not his talent was the problem. If Shane took this amazing opportunity seriously and viewed it as a learning experience, then maybe he could've made a much more decent movie. And it could've maybe opened more doors for him. I think being successful on TH-cam maybe can stunt growth when someone becomes popular and all the feedback they view is praise for mediocrity. And every negative comment is just viewed as hate. All of it is just very unfortunate, and maybe picking another TH-camr who had a passion for film making would've been a better choice.

    • @JoanieDoeShadow
      @JoanieDoeShadow 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If it has been someone like Freddy Wong or one of the guys from WungFu or something the experience and experiment would have been so much better for everyone involved... But they shot themselves in the foot by selecting a TH-camr based on popularity rather than the quality or genre of their skits.

    As HORRIFIC as Shane was to watch and listen to on this show Anna was not much better. Overdramatic, indecisive, constantly soliciting people for reassurance. Unable to make decisions without her husband right there and talking out even the smallest of decisions for 10 mins between each take and knowing she got on the show because she was friends/collaborators with one of the producers makes it even worse

  • @cancerising
    @cancerising 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    the show was a rly cool premise but they don’t need to have one director have an advantage over the other (like shane’s fanbase) and if it’s not working they don’t need sweet talkers and enablers to help someone like shane blow a bunch of cash on something that clearly wasn’t going to work from the beginning
