I'm sure hes a nice guy and I have nothing against him. I just don't understand why hes so popular. Maybe his storyline of him first entering the cup series during Nascars lowest viewership point gave people something to cheer for, but I really don't get it.

I think it is fantastic that Ross, Martin, and others didn't just roll over and let the final 4 race amongst themselves at the front of the pack. It's about time someone not in the 4 won the last race. I feel that gives credibility to the sport.
Nothing wrong with how Ross raced Blaney, he had a job to do. If you dont want anyone else racing then just put the championship 4 on the track by themselves. All the other drivers there have sponsors, teams, owners and fans who expect them to go out and race. Not just run parade laps around the circuit at minimal effort.
Ok as a Chastain fan i wasn't upset that Blaney got a good deal of the post race coverage, if Chastain won the championship i would want the same attention on Chastain that Blaney got. But they should have shown Chastains burn out and watermelon smash, that would not have taken anything away from Blaney. It is what it is, can't wait for Daytona 500🏆
I'm happy Chastain won.... If it's only about the 4 championship drivers, only have 4 cars out there. Otherwise quit complaining he's on the track "catching and passing are two different things".... It's up to the #12 to get by and take the lead, not any other driver pull over and give up the lead.
If i remember right, Blaney had the 2nd fastest 15 lap run time and the quickest 30 lap run or something of the sort. After back to back 2nd place finishes the past 2 years made him the race favorite. As exciting as it would have been to see everyone bunched up for a green/white/checkered finish, its good to know the best car and best driver among the 4 won the chip.
Here’s an idea LET DRIVERS LIKE ROSS CHASTAIN RACE OR HAVE ONLY THE FOUR DRIVERS ON THE TRACK!!! I didn’t see anything wrong on Chastain’s part he is paid to win races and that’s what he was doing. NASCAR needs to stop having these non-competitors racing with mittens. It’s either have a true race duel with only the final four cars or else realize that because there are 36-40 cars on the track that a non-competitor can in fact win.
NASCAR is the only sport that I know of that allows teams to compete even though they do not make the playoffs! If they are still going to allow them to compete then LET them compete! Every driver out on that racetrack owes it to their team owner, owes it to their team, owes it to their sponsors, owes it to themselves, and owes it to their fans to do everything they can to try and win that race!
@@Wisconsin222 I wish that NASCAR would bring back the old Winston Cup points format! With this current format, a driver could go out there and win every race except the last one and not win the championship! If NASCAR is bent on their current points system then they should just award points as they are currently doing and do away with the "CHASE" and whoever has the most points after the last race is the champion! Perseverance and consistency does not pay off in this current format! Having a one race shootout amongst four drivers with thirty two other drivers on the track is just plain stupid! It is in my opinion that NASCAR died the same day that Dale Earnhardt died!
If any driver ever "pulls over" for anyone else, then Nascar ought to pack it in. Every team has sponsors, employees, owners etc. that want to see (and pay) to get their car in victory lane. That's what they ALL get paid to do. If a driver wants to win bad enough, then they will take whatever risk they need to. Blaney let him know at that point he was a bit faster, but also not fast enough to take the chance. Had it not been for the championship, it might have went a little different. Good on Blaney to realize the risk wasn't worth pushing it.

I agree with the blandness of the final four, half is teams trying to keep drivers sponsor friendly and the other half the drivers just being normal nice people and nice drivers. Given that they're all young enough not enough rivalries have grown between them either. Blaney did show like 2000% more character in and out of the racecar this race than any other.

Realistically, I don't think for a second that NASCAR would DQ the champion. They don't want that publicity. Think of how bad that would be for the sport. Everyone would be sour about it the entire off-season and it would set a sour tone for the next season. Then again, maybe that's what we need to get NASCAR to move away from the one-race championship.

They other thing with how the truck race behavior. Things got missed, like Jesse Love, 3 starts, 9th at Gateway, 13th in the 11 truck at Kansas and in Phenix 4th. So many good story liners missed across the board. Pretty hard to keep sponsors when their drivers do what they need to to get TV time and nothing. And what about all the fans of all drivers who don't get to see their driver who did the work and not get mentioned. Without the fans, there is no Nascar
I have absolutely no problem with how Chastain or Blaney handled that situation. Chastain has every right to try and win that race. This issue all came up because of this stupid format and stupid car (that Nascar does not want to seriously fix) at a track that isn't that great to begin with
Kyle Larson is the only one in the last few years that actually deserves/earned the championship and that's coming from someone that hates Larson. This format is a joke and if you think a title means anything, you're in need of a brain scan.
Show quit waiting NASCAR because the drivers have told you what they need to make the racing better and the cars handle better for them quick cost in the more money if you want to wait on horsepower fine do the other things they are talking about and it will keep your viewer base and possibly expand it
I FULLY AGREE WITH U........ OWNER AND DRIVER NEED TO WORK ON IT/ TRAINING WITH FAN ENGAGEMENT??????? JUST EXCELLENT DRIVE DOES NOT PAY THE OWNER OR THE DRIVER FOR THE RACING ??????
This is the nascar you get when it stops being the grown up, experienced drivers that dont want to wreck, so they can afford food that week, and starts being the kid with sponsors who is cheaper to hire.
#1 the “next gen” drivers are way too aggressive #2 the “next gen” drivers are cheap to hire. Not in the long run as they destroy your equipment and your fan base and sponsor ability but the fact that none of them are really marketable or like able. I don’t care for any of the young drivers; as a fan of the sport for over 30 years I watch now mostly outa habit my fandom died when Mark Martin hung it up.
Chastain and Blaney both did nothing wrong Ross would look like he didn’t care about racing if he didn’t block him and Blaney would be a push over if he didn’t hit him
On a side note, who here watched the awarding of the million dollars in the NASCAR contest? Now, how many of you said that #3 was going to win before the balls dropped?
I agree what the hell are they waiting for in fixing the short track package. Take everything to the test and TEST it. It would be cheaper to do it for a solid 3-4 days than losing race fans.
Yates said they can up the HP by 100 without much work. Not sure why they went with a wider tire is beyond me. 18 in dia. Ok. But they shouldnt have made the wider
So question then. He straight up told the media he hit Chastain. Hamlin earlier admitted to ruining Chastain's day. Hamlin was fined. Blaney isn't. Can someone explain? Not trying to be a smartass here, very curious
The championship race is NOT a good representation of the talented drivers. Who ran in the top 5 all year? That shows the drivers who should compete against each other! I personally didn't care about this race I wanted to see my driver #11 and how he was doing but tv didn't talk or show anything outside of the 4 this was the first race that I didn't pay attention to all year. And hello Ross won..... They didn't even bother showing that victory! The guys that compete every week up front are the championship drivers.
That's been how Hendrick (and a lot of Nascar) has been for years. Jimmie Johnson was so damn boring. They train them how to talk like perfect PR people. It's all due to being scared they will lose sponsorship that they don't realize it hurts them in the long run. Seriously, right now, if you run a corporation, why would you sponsor most drivers? Again, it's supposed to be advertising. You need a face and attitude that helps get attention and can help you make sales. Almost no drivers could help with that
What’s a big personality? We’re in an era where a big personality is typically a clown or a vulgarian. In the words of Tony Soprano, whatever happened to Gary Cooper?
It’s all $$. Not talent, anymore. And sponsors & owners let it happen. When there are another 10-15 ready to go back at the shop. Put them on a chassis limit for the season. JMO.
This whole, Kyle Larson is the best driver in the world, thing is overblown. He is obviously not the best driver, or he would have 20 wins a season to give merit to that statement. The difference in talent, given he drives for the best team as well, is not that large. Larson is not magical. His 2021 season was magic. Otherwise, he is a top tier driver but not head a shoulders above the rest.
@@bighand1530 not sure if anyone will ever be able to do what Larson did in 2021. This new gen car its going to be difficult because the cars are so even now
He is because he can race in so many different disciplines of racing jump into any car run up front and win. So he is way more talented and way more diverse than so many other drivers. Other drivers say hes a Badass what he can Do from anything dirt track to NASCAR and Indy car very soon so very few can say or do what he does across racing.

Good on him - I hate manufacturer-forced strategy.
If Ross cared he wouldnt have raced the 5 so hard on the last restart. kyle Larson is champion if he gets the lead.
The reason those four in the championship cuz they take their job seriously
Denny Hamlin would have made it had his wheel not crapped out. And prior to that, there was also Chris Buescher.
Lmaoooo
I dont understand why Nascar doesnt understand that as a fan we want horsepower. Its not fun watching and listening to cars that race like ours.
Door Bumper was spot on today!
4 speeds skinnier tires more horsepower!!!
Don't tell Steve that!
He'll go with one speed, wider tires, and less hp....just because he can't swallow his pride and listen to the fas.
I HEAR YA LOL I LIKE HIM BUT I KINDA SEE WAT YA MEAN LOL@@Ka_Gg
As soon as the pit crew dialed in Blaney's car, he was untouchable
Penske dialed him in, he wouldn't listen to the crew chief
@@davids5006 I meant the car. They fixed the issues with his grip. I agree with you you
Though*
@@Jimmieadamsp I misread it, my bad
@@davids5006 it's all good. I can see how you interpreted it
There was no traction compound. Different tire more passing lanes and groves
Tj is the only reasonable guy on this show
Show quit waiting NASCAR because the drivers have told you what they need to make the racing better and the cars handle better for them quick cost in the more money if you want to wait on horsepower fine do the other things they are talking about and it will keep your viewer base and possibly expand it
Why handle better that's stupid
I FULLY AGREE WITH U........ OWNER AND DRIVER NEED TO WORK ON IT/ TRAINING WITH FAN ENGAGEMENT??????? JUST EXCELLENT DRIVE DOES NOT PAY THE OWNER OR THE DRIVER FOR THE RACING ??????
Bring the Championship to Rockingham and you fix all those provlems! NASCAR should at least buy The Rock for an R&D track!!
This whole deal isn't about show.
If a driver doesn't have the go, the show doesn't matter.
L O L
I agree what the hell are they waiting for in fixing the short track package. Take everything to the test and TEST it. It would be cheaper to do it for a solid 3-4 days than losing race fans.
Nascar need to do incident points in playoffs. black flags and End of line penalty.
No other form of RACING HAS a playoffs! It's taken away so many fans and it's only going to get worse!
nascar needs to bring back happy hour
Hendrick did the graage 56 deal this year so the cup stuff suffered. Next year they have a lot more data to use that other teams dont have access to.
The LeMans deal had no impact on the Nascar side. In fact it probably helped them!
Yates said they can up the HP by 100 without much work. Not sure why they went with a wider tire is beyond me. 18 in dia. Ok. But they shouldnt have made the wider
He has got the personality of a dial tone.
That's funny but only old people know what that is
Watch cleetus McFarland...real racing on asphalt...if not, dirt all day
So question then.
Did I mention dirt is better than a fixed nascar race? Dirt all day
Good job ross for bucking the fixed system..hate it, they'll run you out of the gig in 2yrs for it
Blaney going to fill the hole Harvick’s leaving me with
I think part of working at Hendrick is completely deleting your personality publicly, all of their drivers are so boring on camera it's painful.
Almost no drivers could help with that
Bowmans not that bad
What’s a big personality? We’re in an era where a big personality is typically a clown or a vulgarian. In the words of Tony Soprano, whatever happened to Gary Cooper?
THE RACE WAS LOUSY
It's iRacing's fault ...
The Steve's need to be replaced.
The young bunch have Cell phone personalities. Text them see how fast they would respond with Emoji's
All I heard throughout this whole ordeal is a multitude of reasons why the playoffs are stupid and we should revert back to an old Chase format.
Do Brett and Freddie have any kids together?
It’s all $$. Not talent, anymore. And sponsors & owners let it happen. When there are another 10-15 ready to go back at the shop. Put them on a chassis limit for the season. JMO.
NASCAR QUIT RIGGING THE RACES AND ITLL BE GOOD ITS OBVIOUS
Ford designed this car for the playoffs and their new design will be better
I can always count on you guys complaining about the most trivial bullshit. You have much bigger problems with this format.
Blanks blocked before and got wrecked
Dirt dirt dirt
phoenix is a snoozefest zzZZ 😴😴😴😴😴😴😴
Jonathon davenport, ricky thorton Jr, Hudson O'Neal, Chris madden..nascar champ couldn't hold their nut cup
RTJ not being the champ this year shocked me.... I'm a
T-Mac fan though 🤷🏼♂️
Millbridge better than Martinsville...go dirt racing..it's not fake
Any format that gives you Ryan Blaney as a Champion just highlights how flawed it is, lol.
I dunno if Kyle Larson will ever have another 2021.
He’s the best.
We got our first female cup champ. Cryin Ryan complained about every driver that didn’t pull over for him and let him go. His mangina must have been drippin.
Hello,? Dirt
yall sound like a mad ex wife
Nascar is fixed..go real racing with dirt
Blah blah blah..fixed racing and championship..go dirt racing
